A recipe for love:
One cup of homespun country farmer
Two dollops of hotshot city chef
A sprinkle of funky little restaurant
Increase the heat until romance sizzles.
Hannah Little doesn’t have much use for fancy chefs or fancy restaurants, but that’s exactly what Three Willows Farm needs to survive. When a local restaurant wants to feature her produce, she’s thrilled. But the contract means working with an egotistical, and (let’s face it) drop-dead-gorgeous head chef from New York City.
Chef Drew Davis can’t wait to run her own kitchen. If taking a job at some trendy farm-to-table restaurant in the middle of nowheresville will get her there faster, she’s on board. She has no intention of staying though, and that means the feisty farmer who keeps trying to tell her how to do her job can’t be anything more than a pleasant distraction.
My thoughts:
Recipe for Love was a quick enjoyable read. It fell somewhere in the middle for me. Nothing stood out that made this book amazing and I didn't hate it. I love foodie books but I really didn't connect with this book like I thought I would.
Thank you for the publisher and netgalley for this book in exchange for my honest review.
It was sweet and relaxing. Felt like a warm jumper and a mug of tea on a cold day. But at the same time I found myself a bit bored. Probably best if you are in the mood to chill and read a sweet romance without much drama. Overall it was enjoyable but nothing amazing.
(My review was written at the time of book release but some how didn't got posted.) I love this book. Any book with a chef in it makes me crazy. I've been married to a chef for 24 years and I can so relate to the descriptions of the chefs and the women who love them. I love the farm to table concept and really enjoyed the farm life scenes. There wasn't a thing I didn't love about this book. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
(I bought the audiobook version when it was released.)
This was a nice read, I enjoyed the book but I wasn't exactly wowed either. The author's writing style is engaging, the farm-to-table setting was interesting and I enjoyed learning more about it. The romance was well paced but I couldn't feel the chemistry between the two leads. It was nice to see a biracial lead for a change but it was very far in the background - I would have preferred a bit more focus on that and a bit more on Drew's background. Overall a pleasant read, but I'm afraid it's not my favourite by this author.
This had your typical lesbian romance characteristics. There were two likeable and engaging main characters and the usual troubles the characters have when trying to begin a new relationship. What was different was the occupations of the main characters. Hannah operates and maintains her own farm that she allocates who receives her produce first. Drew is a recent implant from the big city chosen by a restaurant in Hannah's town to be their head chef. Hannah is quite leary of what she thinks of Drew's big city ways. However, when she spends time with Drew she realizes that all of her thoughts were misconceptions.
It is well written and has many sex scenes which are may raise a few eyebrows.
I would recommend this slightly different romance.

I loved the food part (who wouldn't? ;) and the setting, the main characters were likeable and well written.
What? What? I am so disappointed in the ending? Why would the author leave it just at the right moment? Were we supposed to guess what happened next? Hmmmm....I'm disappointed.
This is a fairly predictable story. I liked the romance, the characters and the environment. I liked it but it was a very simple, sweet, cute, familiar and slow story.
It was too similar to other stories I have read that I can only recommend it if you have not read an upper new York, urban small town restaurant hiring a female chef that falls for the local grower.
I loved Aurora Rey's Cape End Romance, so the start of a brand new series was phenomenal to see and even better when getting into the story. I csnt wait for the next installment.
The only thing I know is that when I finished this book I wanted a BLT sandwich the best tomatoes available. It's a lovely story set in a small town. Hannah owns a farm where she works hard from sunrise till sunset. The writer makes it sound so idyllic that I'd move right now to a farm to grow my own produce. Being a foodie Drew and Hannah's story was just an extra next to all the food talk in the book.
I enjoyed this gentle romance with its well rounded characters and appealing storyline. Sometimes you just want to immerse yourself in a book that makes you feel that the world is a good place and people are there for each other and this book does just that.
There was great chemistry between the characters and the way the author described the setting had me right there trying out some great wines and picking vegetables to cook up later in my cozy cottage. The supporting characters were effective and added to the story, I can see a series developing easily from this book.
What a sweet romance this is! The two main characters are Hannah Little and Drew Davis. Hannah is a self-employed farmer in upstate New York who sells her produce to a restaurant called Fig. She also has a farm stand where the public can come and purchase her wide variety of produce. She works hard and loves what she is doing, but she doesn’t have much time to find romance. How convenient that Drew relocates from New York City to takes the head chef position at Fig.
Hannah’s first impression of Drew is that she is a slick, city chef who won’t fit into the upstate small town. Even with this negativity, Hannah is attracted to Drew. Drew, on the other hand, is instantly attracted to Hannah and wants to get to know her better and have a little romantic fling.
Ms. Rey writes a good romance. The plot is straight forward with a very slow build up of the romance between Drew and Hannah. Once they eventually get together, the sex scenes are very steamy. The main and secondary characters are well developed. I really enjoyed Hannah’s sister Clare.
This book is a good read for someone who does not want to deal with a lot of suspense or mystery. It is a book one could read by the pool on a lazy day. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.
I'm not sure about this book, I had very hard time connecting and so I read it in 2 weeks. very long read. I saw many positive feedback so maybe it's just me, i really wanted to read it twice but I could not
good writing thought for sure
Darcy wants to become head chef at a top restaurant in New York city, she figures the best way to fast track from sous chef to head chef is work as head chef in the countryside of upstate New York for a couple years and then head back to the city for a head chef position. So, she gets a job at a farm to table restaurant. Hannah provides the fresh produce for the restaurant and she is not impressed at first with a fancy city chef and they clash. After a while they get close, but are their worlds too different? and is Darcy destined for the city while Hannah is meant for the country?
The characters had great chemistry and the dialogue throughout the book was great. The food was amazing and the setting make me want to visit a place like that. Loved the way the weather kept on changing and how the fruits and veggies influenced the mood and the tone of not only the food but also the story. There were lots of secondary characters which kept the story interesting.
Great book, sweet, loving and full of delicious food.

I loved this book so much! Lots of tropes that I enjoy: Drew, the big city chef that arrives to a town and Hannah, the farmer who thinks she's looking down on them all because it's not New York. The chemistry between the main characters was great, and the secondary characters were charming (I loved Hannah's sister).
This was one of those books that where I love reading about the girls' jobs. The restaurant and the farm. Girl power! They know what the want and they get it by working hard. It's awesome and inspiring.
The drama that *has* to ensue was, well, not surprising (but it shouldn't be, we know from the start what it's going to be) and I love how it was dealt with.
So, fun read! It makes me want to go and grow some organic vegetables.
Aurora Rey writes the yummiest stories – and in this case I mean the food as well as the romance. ‘Recipe for Love’ is the story of hard-working farmer Hannah Little and new chef in town Drew Davis. Set in the beautiful countryside of Upstate New York, with its fields of delicious produce, the setting is an integral part of the whole. I really want to go there now. Hannah can’t quite believe big city Head Chef will ever fit in. Drew arrives with the attitude that this will only ever be a stop-gap. But when they start becoming more to each other than friends, hard decisions may have to be made. I would find it hard to pick who was my favourite between Hannah and Drew. Hannah was kind and conscientious and had obviously found her niche in life. Drew thought she knew exactly what she wanted but meeting Hannah was not in the plan and seeing her deal with that made me love her all the more. The supporting characters were so well drawn and I especially liked Hannah’s sister, Clare. Through her eyes we saw so much of what was going on. It was a lovely romantic story, with just the right amount of will they-won’t they. It was also incredibly sexy. One particular element of the love-making was hot, hot, hot. But you’ll have to discover for yourself what that was! I adore Aurora Rey’s writing and will never get enough. She transports me to beautiful places, with beautiful women and I can guarantee I will have a happy, satisfied smile on my face by the last page. Highly recommended.

This is the first book I have read by Rey and I enjoyed it. Hannah Little is a farmer who contracts with her best friend to supply veggies to his restaurant. Drew Davis hails from NYC and knows this is her big chance to make it on her own if she just spends a couple of years in this small town. When they met they are attracted to one another; however, Hannah doesn't like Drew because she appears to be a big city hot shot.
The first thing I liked about this one was the author decided to base a MC on a non-traditional look (Drew). So many romances typically have the traditional blond hair, brown straight hair, blue/green/grey/hazel eyes and it was refreshing to have brown skin and eye color other than brown. Overall, I felt that there was chemistry, but it could have been better if Hannah wasn't so stuck on trying not to like Drew for silly reasons in the beginning. I did really like Drew's character. Even though she is from the big city she acclimates well to small city life. Rey does a good job with the sex scenes. The were hot and steamy and the MCs seemed to connect well in the bedroom.
Overall I thought this was a good romance. I rate it 3.5 stars.
3 Stars., This book was alright. It is about Drew Davis, a NYC chef who gets a job at the restaurant, Fig near Ithaca, NY. The restaurant is farm to table who is using a local grower for most of its produce. The farmer, Hannah Little, is a little skeptical of the big city farmer who showed up on her farm. Drew and Hannah have to work together for the restaurant and they get to know each other. As they get to know each other, Hannah realizes Drew isn't as much a big city girl as she thought..
I thought this book was just okay. It wasn't bad, but I just never got super into the story or the characters. They did not evolve as much as I would have liked throughout the book and I wished there was a little more tension between the two characters. They kept talking about how they couldn't hook up, but it never caused any problems or anything. I would skip this one unless you really need a book to read, it was just kinda average and not the best.
Recipe for Love is subtitled A Farm-to-Table Romance, which describes it perfectly. It has all the ingredients needed for a warm, easy and enjoyable romance that hits all the right spots. Aurora Rey does a very good job of changing up some genre stereotypes, and gives us interesting butch-femme dynamics. The story has diversity and contrast seamlessly written into it all the way through. I really like Hannah and Drew, and their close circle of friends and family are all great - providing two or three perfect hooks for follow-up books. Please write them!
Overall, I like this book very much, four-and-a-half starts but in the hope of more stories, rounded to 5! Recommended.
This is a great romance. Being in the food industry myself i enjoyed the farm with all the fresh vegetables and the variety of foods. Definitely made me want a blt with homemade mayo. I agree nothing better than a warm tomato straight from the vine. What more could you want food and romance.read this book you will love it.
The newest romance by Aurora Rey, Recipe for Love, is a fun-filled story set in a small town in upstate New York. This is a light-hearted and delightful tale that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Recipe for Love places a big city chef (Drew Davis) as the head chef for a new restaurant called Fig in a small town in upstate New York. The theme for this establishment is “farm to table” which means trying to use food that is mostly grown locally. Of course this sets up the meeting between Drew and Hannah Little, a local farmer who supplies Fig with most of its produce. Sparks fly immediately between these two characters, but this is definitely a slow-burn romance, so it takes a while before the two realize what those sparks really mean.
The characters, both main and secondary, are well-developed and real. The descriptions of the setting makes me want to become a farmer just like Hannah, and I’m sure I’ve gained at least five pounds reading about the delicious food in the story. Ms. Rey has done an excellent job of creating a world and a story I would love to live in.
If you like a lovely romance with engaging characters, a beautiful setting, and good food, then this is the book for you.
