’We Met In December’ is the latest book by Rosie Curtis.

This December, unlucky-in-love Jess is following her dream and moving to Notting Hill. On the first night in her new house-share she meets Alex, the guy in the room next door. They don’t kiss under the mistletoe, but there’s still a spark that leaves Jess imagining how they might spend the year together – never mind the house rule against dating. But when Jess returns from her Christmas holiday, she finds Alex has started seeing Emma, who lives on the floor above them. Now Jess faces a year of bumping into the man of her dreams – and, apparently, the woman of his. Jess is determined to move on and spend the year falling in love with London, not Alex – but what if her heart has other ideas?

If you’re a lover of fun, romantic stories, then this book is the perfect book to curl up with.

The story is seen through the eyes of newcomers to London, Jess and Alex. Both are at a new starting point in their lives, a new career path and a new home. They’re both new lodgers in the of Jess’s best friend fancy house in Notting Hill. One rule of Becky’s house is that there is to be no relationships between the housemates, but this is difficult when Jess and Alex are attracted to each other and have a connection.

The story progresses as the pair settle into their lives, Alex leaving behind his career being a lawyer and training to be a house whilst Jess joins a small publishing house and both deal with new unexpected feelings. As well as story being seen through their eyes, there is also the inclusion of smaller stories. Jess’s best friends Sophie and Gen are a fun injection into the story, as the 3 women progress in lives and the dynamics between the 3 of them makes for fun reading. Also Jess’s grandmother is a lovely character, a kind hearted woman who was there when Jess’s mother was away travelling. I loved Alex, a man who’s at a turning point in his life and is finding himself in a place where he’s at his happiest.

Reminiscent of a Richard Curtis film with a touch of Bridget Jones, ‘We Met In December’ is the perfect book to curl up during the dark nights. With glorious characters, setting and a festive feel, this book is ideal for fans of Giovanna Fletcher.

You can pre-order ‘We Met In December’ In December Amazon and will be available to buy from good bookshops from 3rd October 2019.

Well, this has certainly been a great trip! What I loved most in this book is the way it portrayed London. Since I've recently visited it, it just brought back all the memories from walking its streets and neigbourhoods. And as for the story itself, its a light rom com, a bit predictive, but still quite charming. Perfect for a lovely day inside with a cup of tea or coffee :).

A big thank you to NetGalley for a free sample of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

I started to read this book, but wasn't interested in continuing. The story was cute, but didn't develop quick enough to draw my interest & keep me reading, so I decided to put it down.

It was a lighthearted read, not bad but not exactly what I was expected! The two main characters in this book are pretty likable people. However, I just could not buy into the romance. I needed something more.I thought there was a lot of potential to make this book a lot more than what it turned out to be.The writing is good and easy to follow.

To be honest, I didn't finish this book because I just could not get into it. The characters and the story line were just not captivating to me. Sorry!

What a perfect book to read over the winter holidays - my work shuts down for a few weeks over Christmas, and I wanted to tear through holiday books. This was a fun, quick vacation read.

Personally, I was really excited to read this book, the blurb sounds quite interesting ...
But,
When I started reading , I didn't connect with it from the first chapter, but I kept going , waiting for,

1. The plot to finally become more exciting,
2. The Characters to be at least tolerable, or even human .... " I was like for god's Sake, just give me a normal human reaction !!! "
3. The writing style to become enjoyable and not boring.

As this is the first book for me by this author, I don't have much to say about the writing style, because maybe this author will write another book " With interesting story " and I will enjoy it.

It was promising especially because the main concept which is all about choosing what you really want , no matter what age you are , what others think , and what hard work that would take from you ..

but For me , I didn't enjoy this book at all .

The story is not especially original or creative, but it is just soo sweet and cosy and really really nice to follow Jess and Alex through London. The whole book felt kinda "London-ish", in a good kind of way. My only real complaint is that the ending was way too short. After a year-long build-up, only a few sentences and a short epilogue was definitely a let-down.

I also would have liked to get to know more about Jess' work at a publishing house. She doesn't tell a thing about it. From Alex we get at least glimpses of his work, but mostly it's only that he is totally knackered after yet another night-shift. Instead the author really focuses on their relationship with each other, and also with other people. Which is also fine with me. I felt comfortable in their company!

This book was greatly written and the author's voice shone through. It wasn't for me though. I disliked the main characters commitment or lack thereof to each other.

Struggled with this book,. I didn’t connect with Alex and Jess or the story. I was really disappointed because I saw this book all over social media and I was really excited.

I loved this book! If you’re looking for something a tiny bit festive but an easy, funny in places, girl meets boy, they fall secretly in love with each other and almost never sort themselves out this is the book for you.
I love the characters, they were likeable and there were a few great one liners which made me laugh out loud. i found myself imaging the places they were visiting throughout the story and really wanted to pack my bags and move into that shared house (takes me back to my uni days). I’d love a sequel to see how they’re getting on as I felt it finished a little too soon for my liking - it was perfect for the story but I’m a sucker for always wanting more.

This was a good, easy, holiday read. It wasn't super deep and I doubt it will stay with me for a long time but I enjoyed it for what it was.

I enjoyed this slowburn, charming and subtle style romance and found it to be a quick read. A real highlight for me was Alex and Jess’s walks - I haven’t visited London before and the descriptive writing really transported me to London and all the scenic places they explored. I also enjoyed seeing Alex and Jess’s relationship develop throughout the course of the year and the alternating point of views allowed me to connect with these two characters. I found the supporting characters also relatable and enjoyed seeing how the housemates interacted with each other.

Despite it’s title, We Met in December is not a Christmas read necessarily, so if you’re looking for a full blown holiday Christmas read then you should definitely keep this in mind. Personally I felt there was some missed opportunities to inject a bit of drama at two key points in the story but despite this I still enjoyed We Met in December overall and found it to be a great holiday read that I binged in a day.

Lovely, feel good romantic read. A little similar to another book I’ve recently read, but that didn’t detract from the excellent writing and believable characters.
I will look out for this author again. Thank you NetGalley for my advanced copy.
