Neighborhood book club gone wrong... I was hooked from the beginning. This had secrets, lies, love, evil, friends, family and betrayal. It really has a bit of everything. It was fast paced with excellent writing and an overall easy read. It had a great mix if characters whom some you loved and others you loved to hate. Secrets are revealed through the book so there was never a dull moment. The book also had plenty of twist to keep you guessing. I loved it!

Fantastic start to a novel. Great building of suspense throughout. Leaves the reader wanting more. Will definitely be looking out for the full novel

I'm a big fan of Joshilyn Jackson and I've read all of her books but this one may be the best yet! Her writing style is compelling and unmistakable. I can't wait to find out Amy's past and how Roux is connected.

I’m hooked after just the first chapter! This book has been on my TBR list for months now, and August can’t come soon enough.

Very excited after reading the excerpt and think this will be one of the best thrillers of the summer. Let's hope the August weather is as hot as the plot was. Looking forward to reading more that's for sure!

I am so bummed that this was just an excerpt. The storyline really pulls you in and has you wondering more about Amy's secret.

I'd forgotten that this was just an extract so I got to the end of the chapter and thought, "Wait! You can't leave me hanging like that!" But apparently you can! Now I'm just biding my time waiting for this book to be released as it had me hooked from the beginning!

I didn't quite realize that this was just the first chapter. I don't feel that there was enough to give a complete review of the book. What I read was interesting and intriguing but whether it will hold up for the entire book, I could not say.

This extract made me want the read the book even more. The writing is eloquent and sophisticated. I cannot wait to see this book on the shelves so that I can finally read the book in its entirety.

Holy moly, the first chapter of this book sucked me right in! I both want to keep reading and am apprehensive about what I'm going to read next- it's the perfect amount of tension. Amy Whey is a new mom and part of a neighborhood book club. While she isn't the official 'host' of the monthly book club, it does take place at her house. The book opens on book club night, and a new neighbor, Roux, joins the group of moms. She is like a wind of change to the group dynamic, intriguing some and upsetting others. As the evening winds down, Roux entices a few of the moms into a version of the game Never Have I Ever that jumps right to confessions of past sins. Apparently Amy has something in her past that Roux knows about. I go back to my belief that Roux is an ill wind that is going to stir up all kinds of trouble for both Amy and the neighborhood. I can't wait to read the rest of the book!
