First of all I picked this book up because I love Bride and Prejudice and thought a book about Bollywood would be right up my street.
The book itself was ok, now and again things seemed a little rushed or easy but maybe that’s just me. I liked the fact that you had the movie reviews and I now have a ton of movies I can sit and watch and maybe if I did watch them I would understand more of the references.
Nevertheless it was still an interesting and easy read and the Colin Firth references were on point so instant win there

I absolutely adore this book. Witty, fun, believable characters - I wish it had been around when I was in my teens, however it is DEFINITELY one of those YA books adults can enjoy too. I feel so inspired to go and watch lots of Bollywood movies now!! I can’t wait to see what else Nisha writes too. One of the best YA books I’ve read this year, my so-called Bollywood life is one of those books you can’t put down.

As soon as I heard about this book, I was instantly excited for it! It sounded like a cute, fun contemporary that could split up the more hard hitting ones I’ve been reading lately but sadly, I did not enjoy this one!

In My So Called Bollywood Life we follow our main character Winnie who has a huge passion and runs a blog about Bollywood movies who has just got back from film camp to find out her boyfriend has cheated on her after she asked for a break from him over the summer. But, there’s a “prophecy” that they’re basically meant to be together and then she meets Dev and oh no, she must choose between the two🙀

My biggest problem with this book was Winnie, I just thought she was such an unlikeable main character, I mean it starts off with her stealing and burying some of her ex boyfriends things! And I know what happened to her was so horrific but throughout the book her wineyness just grated me so much, I wanted to shake her and tell her she’s worth more than him. Also considering she has such a passion for Bollywood, her love and blog are hardly even mentioned apart from at the start of each chapter.

I also really thought that this book could have definitely benefitted from being in 1st person rather than 3rd, I feel like it would really help me connected with Winnie more!

One thing I did like was the writing itself! I think the author is a super talented writer, unfortunately, this book was just not for me!

I know that so many people are going to love this when it comes out and I’m sad that I didn’t!
