A good sign of a well-written character is an emotional response to them; in this case, I didn't like them. This worked for the story so I became addicted to turning the pages.
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
I struggled to NOT put this book down, as just as when I thought I had it figured out, there was a twist that had me glued further again! The first time I've read this author's books, but definitely not the last time. Recommended.
Dear Publishers.
Firstly, thanks very much for the opportunity to read and review this title.
Unfortunately, I just wanted to let you know that I won't be reading and reviewing this title due to the large number of titles that I currently have on my shelf, and my inability to read them all. Also, I feel that a review at this late stage probably won't assist you or the author. For these reasons, I've decided to tidy up of my Netgalley shelf and I will be removing this one from my TBR pile.
I hope to be able to read and review further titles for you in the future.
Thanks and Regards
Kim
Psychological thriller that involves marriage and all the tumultuous ins and outs is all I needed to read before I knew I would be sucked in.
This is a paced read that involves emotions set in India and later in London with police involved from the very beginning. Mia and Roy are at the epicenter of this marriage that will test every one of their limits. But how far are they willing to go to save their marriage?
I struggled to get into this book from the off. I didn’t warm to any of the characters and it didn’t feel like it was going anywhere.
It’s rare that I don’t finish a book, but I just wasn’t gripped, and I gave up half way.
This is one of my favourite genres, so I was a little disappointed.
A clever and twisting plot that constantly leaves you guessing. Great twist at the end which I didn't see coming. There were lots of times when I thought I had sussed things out, only to be completely wrong.
My three-word description of Your Truth or Mine? by Trisha Sakhlecha is captivating, edgy and cunning.
I found this compelling and hugely entertaining. It is a delightful tale of fiction with frissons of suspense, chills and eeriness. Married couple Mia and Roy Kapoor are totally committed to each other. But when a young woman is found dead, Roy becomes the prime, and only, suspect. As Roy and Mia’s life unravels, they must question everything they know about each other if their marriage is to survive.
This domestic thriller questions how well you really know anyone and highlights the extent to which some people harbour secrets and tell lies to their nearest and dearest. This was such a dark, sophisticated tale by Trisha Sakhlecha that kept me enthralled from the very first page. The plot begins with a blast and quickly unfolds into an ominous story with frissons of love, loss, deception, drama, manipulation, jealousy, obsession, violence, and murder. The author writes the masterfully fleshed out characters displaying various personality traits - those of vulnerability, craftiness, and susceptibility.
This is an ambitious offering from a début novelist that measures up as an engaging and thought-provoking read. Overall, I had no issues with Your Truth or Mine? and it bedazzled me!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Pan Macmillan via NetGalley at my request, and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
Absolutely loved this fast paced unpredictable gripping story
Plenty off twists and turns
Not what I was excepting.
Thank you netgalley, Trisha Sakhlecha and Pan MacMillian for allowing me to read and review this book
Convoluted and not a great read in my opinion.
I had no empathy for any of the characters at all, none of them had anything redeeming about them.
Oh, I really enjoyed this. Fast paced with a humdinger of a twist at the end, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a fantastic psychological thriller.
It had me hooked and did not take me long to get through this at all.
Whilst reading the book, I thought I had guessed straightaway what was going on, but I was so wrong!!
This book will stay with me for a while!
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of Your Truth or mine for an honest review.
I must admit I struggled to get through this book.I didn’t particularly like the characters and it didn’t engage me from the start.
I have read much better suspenseful stories with better endings recently.
Wow! I thought this was such a chilling and riveting read! I had a hard time setting it down and needed to know more! It’s one of those that starts in a way that makes it impossible to put down and continues to make sure that it’s done throughout the book! Lots of suspense, chills, thrills, and shocks! And so well written, because you feel what the characters feel! Recommend to those who love ones that I love!
Will be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!
A really good thriller and it will definitely have you wanting to turn each and every page. It has that old touch of frost feel to it.
I have to be completely honest, when i read the first few pages of this book I thought it seemed promising but then it stayed on the same wave length and nothing happened and it was just getting rather boring to me, I love a thriller with interesting characters and lots of twists and turns. This to me has a lot of build up and I'm not sure if it will pay off because I didn't keep reading but honestly it wasn't for me.
Mia and Roy Kapoor happily married enjoying life normal daily life. Then a knock on the door Roy is being accused of murder .Life as they know it falls apart & the twist turns darkness sets in.How well do you really know your spouse what secrets are buried in the past.A wild ride of a read a rollecoaster that will keep you racing through the pages Mia’s pointbof view Roy’s point of view grab this book.#netgalley #panmacmillan.
I enjoyed some parts and the break down of trust was well done a surprise sort of. sadly the ending though was plotted,it felt disappointing as I know we don’t want to draw too much attention to the character that did it but I cdnt recall them that much at all .i mean it made sense but I didn’t really recall them earlier on wd have liked a bit more on that character .i remembered a scene it not much more
I felt for the female character and her childhood ,I cd see the lies that are told ,violence they are faced with by others mentally and physically can cause such pain forever in people and this was well explored .
Just thought wd grip me more though I did turn the pages fast I thought there may be more to it ,a double bluff ,a clever motive I don’t know .
It made sense and was a good domestic dark story and did make me feel things it just for some reason didn’t quite make the magic
Thankyou netgalley and publishers for advanced copy
A psychological thriller full of twists and turns that have your head reeling with disbelief, never knowing who is telling the truth. Exactly what I expect from this genre of book.
I admit neither of the characters in the forefront, Mia & Roy, actually appealed to me, I wasnt particularly rooting for one or the other but I think that made it all the more addictive.
I only gave 3 stars as for once I just couldn't fully picture the characters in my imagination which made it hard for me to fully immerse into it.
I'm really not sure why this book has so many good reviews, because nothing happens for the first 60% of it. In fact, the only reason I persevered was because of people saying how amazing the twist was, but when it came, the payoff wasn't nearly as good enough as I'd expected. Sure, I didn't predict the end, but I just didn't care enough about any of the characters to be astonished or invested in what happened.
There are so many better thrillers out there with stronger endings. This one really isn't worth the time spent reading.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.
