I have not read the first book however did see the movie. The writing is very engaging and it was a clever and sweet story to read of which I did cry at towards the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this lovely story in exchange for a honest review.

I’ve just finished reading this bittersweet book with tears in my eyes but also hope in my heart.

7 years after losing her beloved Gerry, Holly is slowly beginning to rebuild her life. She found great comfort in the first year of her grief through the emotional heartfelt letters Gerry left her .. They connected her to him even after his untimely death and were always signed ps I love you.

With a new relationship beginning with Gabriel, Holly is struggling with the reminders of her first love. Gabriel also finds it hard competing with Gerry’s memory. Holly is approached by the ps I love you club a group of terminally ill people who want her to help them compose personal letters to their loved ones. Will this help Holly or will it put another obstacle in her way in moving forward.?

This sequel to the hugely popular ps I love you was every bit as touching and beautifully written as the first book. To lose the love of your life is unimaginable and the journey of grief that accomplices it was written with such empathy and understanding. Moving on and starting new relationships whilst remembering old ones was beautifully portrayed.

I applauded Holly for her strength throughout this book. Her willingness to help others in turn helped herself. Also her ability to acknowledge and remember her love for Gerry alongside her understanding of Gabriel’s needs was fantastic. It is a gentle reminder to us all to enjoy every moment we have with our loved ones and not to take anything for granted.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for my chance to read this fantastic book., I truly loved every page of this uplifting thought provoking book .

It took me a little while to get into the book and try and recollect what happened in PS I love you, I’m glad I persevered as I enjoyed meeting all the new characters. It was funny, sad, and I admit I cried in places. It was a bittersweet story and I can see how the recently bereaved may want to give this a miss.

'Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss you'll land among the stars...'

7 years ago, Holly's life was changed for ever when she was widowed at the tender age of 29, following her husband Gerry's death from a brain tumour. She is left floundering, but her story soon took a turn when after his death it is revealed that Gerry had a plan all along. He left Holly a year of letters, guiding her through her grief and pushing her to take small steps to help her to begin a new life without him. And of course, all signed 'PS, I love you.'... It's now been 6 years since Gerry's last letter, and Holly's life is about to be changed once again, after she is approached by the PS I Love You Club - a group of individuals with terminal illnesses who are desperate to leave meaningful messages for their own loved ones to receive after they've passed. But is Holly really the best person to help them with their goals? And what will she have to give up in exchange?

Now, I need to start of by saying that I am a huge fan of the original PS I Love You, both the book and the film, so when I heard there was a sequel I was almost painfully excited. I purposefully didn't read the synopsis before starting the book, as I wanted to go in with no preconceptions at all about where Holly's life would be, and I'm so glad I did as it meant I had the full OMG moment when I realised what was going on!

Essentially, the book begins with Holly speaking about Gerry's death and his letters on her sister Ciara's podcast. Shortly afterwards, she is approached by the founder of the PS I Love You Club, which is essentially a small group of people who have all received a terminal or life-limited diagnosis, and have all been inspired by Gerry's act of love towards his wife. They want to leave their own messages for their loved ones, and given that Holly was on the receiving end of Gerry's letters, they want her help in crafting the perfect missives to leave behind. The problem is, Holly is only just starting to feel like her life is back on track, and working with the PS I Love You Club could drag her back to the worst time of her life. Or at least, that's what her friends and family are fearful of. But more than than, revising the letters makes Holly question how she really feels about the whole experience - did the letters really help her to move on, or did they instead prolong her suffering, by leading to an inevitable second goodbye?

Personally, I loved the idea of the club. It was a really beautiful way to honour the intention at the heart of Gerry's letters, and I loved seeing how different everyone's ideas were in relation to the format of their messages. It was also incredibly moving getting to know the members of the club and their stories, and I really appreciated how well-written they are all were, in the sense that each character has a completely distinct story, and a completely unique approach to their messages, but that the reasoning behind their messages made complete and total sense. The characterisation was just totally spot on is what I'm trying to say!

The writing was also perfect. In some ways, the it is far deeper than in the original novel. Holly is more introspective, and now that some time has passed, she is in a position to almost critically analyse her grief and how it influenced her life, along with the letters and how they impacted on the situation. Ahern writes about grief with a clarity that is almost scientific, whilst also being incredibly moving. As someone who lost a parents a few years ago, I really appreciated how she was able to sum up the complexity of grief and its every-changing state without rely on cliches and cheap tricks. The writing in this novel is just stunning, and it really made you reflect on and question things to do with Gerry's letters specifically, but also death and grief more broadly, and when compared to the first novel you can definitely see how Ahern's writing style has matured and grown. She also showed real talent in managing to keep Holly's distinct voice from the original novel, whilst also showing how time and experience had changed Holly and her perspective on life.

Another thing I loved is that there was a lot more focus than I expected on Gerry and Holly's relationship, which I absolutely loved - there were all of these beautiful little flashbacks to various times in their lives together, and I thought it was a really beautiful way of reflecting on the fact that even once someone is gone, and has been dead for several years as is the case with Gerry, your relationship with them is still so vivid, and so much a part of who you are. Yes, other books have touted the same idea that the ones we love never truly leave us, but I don't think I've ever read a book that made me really appreciated the message quite so fully until reading this (ok, maybe except for Harry Potter!)

All in all, I'm blown away. I'm rarely a fan of sequels, especially when it comes to books like PS I Love You. The original was so good, why risk ruining it!? But in this case, I think having the second book was a great idea - the story and characters are so strong that it is clear this book was written out of love, not just to try and sell a sequel. The resulting book is nothing short of breathtaking - it is heart-breaking yet uplifting, and for anyone who has experienced grief it will likely be incredibly cathartic. Ahern has also managed the tricky act of summing up the first book without it being a boring dump of information, so even if you haven't read the first, you have no excuse not to pick this one up. I promise you, you won't regret it.

I finished this with tears streaming down my face - the same effect as the original PS I love you. I though it was a great idea to catch up with Holly Kennedy a few years after her husband Gerry had died and left her with a year of letters. Holly has moved on, on the surface, and is about to move in with boyfriend Gabriel when she does a podcast for her sister, about the PS I Love You letters. This changes her life. She has a meltdown year and will never be the same. Where she ends up is where she needs to be. She acknowledges her changes and finally embraces her life. There is one final surprise at the end. #emotional #psiloveyou #postscript

Having previously read PS. I Love You, I was immediately drawn back into "Gerry and Holly's" story.

The book begins seven years after Gerry's death. Holly is in a new relationship and moving on with her life, until her and Gerry's story goes viral on her sisters podcast.

The PS, I Love You club is then set up by a group of terminally ill who fall in love with Gerry's letter concept. The book follows Holly's journey after Gerry's death, considers his reasoning for doing what he did and how it and the group (reluctantly) has changed her life.

I cried multiple times throughout this book, but yet couldn't put it down. It's a fantastic, touching, laugh out loud, emotional read, that I highly recommend to all. It will make you tell your loved ones you love them and consider everyone else's life journey too.

This book completely broke me and simultaneously put me back together. A brilliant sequel to P.S. I Love You.

I bought and read PS. I Love You when it was first published and I adored it so I was delighted to hear a sequel was coming out. I wondered if it would capture the emotions that the first book did and I’m so pleased to say that it did, perhaps even more so!

Postscript is set seven years after the end of PS I Love you and Holly is doing well. Then one day she is invited to help with a group called the PS I Love You Club, which was inspired by the story of the letters that Holly received every month in the year after Gerry died. Holly is really unsure about it, she’s moved on and doesn’t want to go back to those feelings but at the same time she knows how the letters helped her and feels she should at least hear the club out.

The PS I Love You Club is a group of people who are all facing their own mortality and they want Holly to help them leave letters behind for their own loved ones. On attending a meeting Holly agrees to help and from then on we see her relationships with the individuals in this group build.

I loved this book, it explores grief and loss in so many ways but it’s done in a way that ultimately feels uplifting. Holly explores how she feels now about the letters Gerry left, and she ponders how he must have felt when he was writing them. We see how she uses her feelings to help others work through their own approaches to leaving something behind.

Postscript is a wonderful book – it will make you cry, it will make you hold you loved ones a bit tighter but it will also make you smile and it will ultimately leave you feeling uplifted. I’m so glad that I read this book, it’s definitely one of my favourites of this year and I recommend it!

How lovely to pick up with Holly Kennedy again. Seven years after she lost her husband Gerry to cancer and a follow up to PS, I love you.

Holly has managed to move on with her life. She is dating and considering moving with with her new boyfriends, Gabriel.

Ciara, Holly's sister has been asking for ages for Holly to join her in a podcast to talk about coping with grief and how the famous PS, I love you letters from Gerry helped Holly in the aftermath of Gerry's death.

Following the podcast, Holly discovers that there is a "PS, I love you club". Holly is invited to come along to a meeting with one of the members of club but Holly is not happy and for the most part, neither are her family. Worrying that Holly will revert back to how she was when Gerry first dies.

I enjoyed this book immensely and although I felt that it were a little longer than it needed to be, but that didn't effect my enjoyment.

Ensure that you have the tissues handy though.

To be honest I was really nervous to start the reading this novel, as just the mention of ‘P.S. I love you’ and I feel my eyes filling up!

But wow, what a book! The novel did not disappoint and as I suspected, I ended up trying to surreptitiously hide my tears as I sat at the kids’ streetdance class whilst reading the concluding chapters!

Beautifully written, with such raw and heartfelt emotion from beginning to end. It really captures Holly’s journey so well and continues the story with a realistic sense of ‘hanging on’ whilst still trying to move on with her life.

I enjoyed every minute of reading this...I didn’t want it to end. Thank you Netgalley for the preview read and thank you @Postscript for making me laugh, cry and cry a bit more!

This is the story of Holly several years after the death of childhood sweetheart Gerry. She’s survived, she’s coping and she’s getting on with life. After a podcast about her PS I love you letters, she is hounded by a customer from the shop she works at who really wants to talk to her, but Holly really doesn’t want to relive that part of her life. She leaves a business card with the words, The PS I love you Club. Intrigued but cautious, Holly finds out more, and it literally turns her life upside down. The most fantastic emotional sequel to PS I Love You. Bring tissues!!!!

I have to be honest and say I didn't love P.S. I Love You, but I wanted to give the sequel a chance. And I'm so pleased I did because it went above and beyond my expectations.

7 years later. Although Holly still grieves her husband, she has moved on with her life, working her sister's vintage shop and dating the lovely Gabriel. Just when she feels like her life is finally on a steady road, her sister asks her to share her experience with grief in their local podcast. Reaching more ears than they expected, Holly's life is thrown into reverse when she is introduced to the P.S I Love You Club. Started by a keen listener of the podcast, the group comprises of terminally ill people who want to leave a part of themselves behind for their loved ones. However, they need Holly's help. She needs to find the strength to face that part of her life again and help people fulfill their final wishes.

The amateur writing-style in P.S. I Love You was replaced by a strong narrative that pulled me in from the very first page. The characters were much more likable and I really felt the emotion through the pages. I sobbed my heart out and thought it was brilliantly crafted. It's rare that a sequel is better than the prequel but in this case, it absolutely was. I fell in love with the P.S. I Love You Club and my heartstrings were well and truly pulled.

This is the follow up to P.S. I Love You.
Severn years have past and Holly is getting on with her life. She works for her sister ciara and is dating Gabriel.
Holly helps her sister ciara with her podcast talking about the loss and grief of losing Gerry . From the podcast a group called the P.S I Love you Club is set up and they want Holly to help them .At first she isn’t to sure her family don’t want her to do it as it may drag her backwards. Holly eventually decides to help and is swept away with helping them all.Hoping helping them will help herself.
Great follow up book.
Thanks NetGalley

We return to Holly Kennedy in this sequel to “P.S I Love You “ it’s been seven years since she lost her husband Gerry to cancer. She has slowly started to rebuild her life again, dating and considering moving in with Gabriel.

Holly’s sister Ciara persuades her to take part in her podcast about coping with grief, where she talks about how her letters from Gerry helped her in the throes of grief. Afterwards Angela Carberry tries to persuade her to write a book about her experiences, when she declines she sends her a business card with the words “P.S I Love You Club” printed on it. She is furious she used Gerry’s saying, that is very dear to her.

The P. S I Love You Club members are a group of people who are dying , but want to leave their loved ones with their own form of P.S messages. By helping these members, will it bring back all the pain and grief again of losing Gerry?

Sometimes when you read a sequel, you worry that it will never be as good as the original but I’m pleased to say that this wasn’t the case!!

At times I could not see the words as tears streamed down my face then in the next second I would roar with laughter. An emotional rollercoaster of a book, but one that is so beautifully written. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that has affected me so much. (Well not since P.S I Love You) it made me think about my own mortality and of the people I have loved and lost.

A must read book that will steal you’re heart and stay with you long after reading it. Have the tissues handy!!!

I was so excited to read this book. I adored PS I love you and as with many books was left wanting to know how life planned out.

I started the book and found Holly with a new partner and wasn’t sure I was happy about this. I wondered if having a sequel so late on was actually a good thing. But then I read on and fell in love with the whole book as much as the original! The book works through all the issues of should Holly move on, how should she do this and what does it mean for her love of Gerry.

The book is so moving and had me in the at a but also in fits of laughter. The characters are so vivid that I imagine myself in the room with Holly trying to balance a letter on the hands of a corpse!!

The topic of this book is heartbreaking but I love how Holly, with support from her friends and family, works through all the issues and finds the path that is right for her. I love how we learn more about Holly and Gerry as well as learning about Holly and Gabriel and how the intertwining of the two shows that love is amazing and is somehow not diminished but made greater by Holly moving on.

I loved it!

After getting a three chapter taster of this book I was hooked and couldn't wait to finish it.
The extension to PS I love you has been well thought through and plays out so well I just couldn't put it down, I had no idea where the story would continue from the first book but Holly gets approached by a group of people who want her help to leave behind the same gift she has already had from her deceased husband after hearing her interview about grief and the letters she had from her husband after he died done by her sister.
As each of the PS I love you club sets out their ideas for leaving their loved ones individual packages on their passing Holly gets caught up in a variety of unique plans and loving messages to those left behind. Surprisingly light reading given the subject matter and a great follow on to Holly's storyline in PS I love you. Highly recommended.

Many years ago I read P.S I love you and I didn’t think that there would ever be a
Sequel, but just as I had overcome the emotional trauma of reading Holly’s story, out pops a sequel!!!

The story follow Holly 7 yrs on from Gerry’s death, and from when she started to try to rebuild her life. An emotional and uplifting read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and was happy to meet some old characters again.

Lovely read but also very poignant and gives you a lot to think about with regards to grief and death.
I am a huge Cecilia Ahern fan, having read all her books. This did not disappoint, I cared about the characters and I thought it was a lovely sequel to PS, I love you. I do think there is scope for more books in the series too!

Picking up the narrative thread where much- adored PS, I Love You ended was a trepidatious prospect. Joyfully, even from the opening pages it was an absolute treat to be reunited with Holly. We join her, seven years on as she reflects in the legacy of letters bequeathed to her by her dead husband, Gerry to help her with the grieving process and find herself. As with the previous novel, it is thoughtfully written, radiating a plethora of tender and emotionally stirring moments tinged with poignancy throughout, as Holly now happy in her new relationships with Gabriel is drawn back to her bereavement and feelings of loss through her participation in a podcast about grief and through her subsequent contact with the ‘PS I Love You Club’. As a huge fan of the first novel, I savoured every word and was just as charmed by Holly’s journey discovering the power of love and healing as I had been first time round.

Not having read the first book wouldn’t preclude anyone’s enjoyment of this sequel as the writer interleaves events from PS, I Love You with this new story. Thank you very much for the review copy. It was akin to a joyful reunion with old, much-loved friends and all my doubts about the power of Postscript to match the first book’s emotional depth were completely allayed with all my expectations happily fulfilled. A Postscript to the Postscript would be most eagerly anticipated for the future.

This is a truly lovely book and I would recommend it to anyone. Whilst the subject matter is difficult it is dealt with with love and sensitivity and a good deal of food for thought along the way. If you like PS I love you, you will love this. Surely another film beckons?
