Don't be put off by death in the title. This book was like a breath of fresh air from start to finish, enthralled me throughout, was beginning to worry about where Jennifer's journey would take her, but thankfully to a happy end

Lovely book Jennifer is given news from her GP that she has only three months to live suffering from a terminal illness. She decides to get her “house in order” and write letters to people who have let her down in the past as she feels being a kind soul they need to be aware of their misbehaviours. Jennifer waits for the fallout but it turns out to be sweet and bitter. It is a sensitive story written in such a way that you love all the characters even the not so nice ones. It is a great read and although I did guess the ending I was delighted with it and how well the story twisted to that end. Very emotional in parts and also funny too. Would make a good movie especially as it is so sensitively written and people may take something out of this if they are suffering emotionally as they can see things can improve and get better

What a great fast paced read.

Insightful, funny, sad and just an absolute joy to read.

The writing style flowed brilliantly, so easy to read in one sitting!

This story really makes you look at your own life, take stock as the saying goes.

The main character Jennifer really blooms as the novel goes on, she grows in confidence and self esteem, it was really lovely to follow and there were a few "Go Jennifer" moments said aloud!

There are no negatives I can give to this book, it's a perfect holiday read (or isolation), I can't review in much detail though as it would most definitely give the story away.

Huge thank you to netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC.

Jennifer has just been given traumatic news by her doctor, and decides to write letters to several people who have upset and disappointed her in the past. The book explores her journey meeting up again with old lovers, friends and family, and trying to discover what went wrong, hoping for some kind of understanding.

Although tackling a difficult subject, this heartwarming story is told in a light, humorous way, and is an entertaining read. The story steadily makes its way with Jennifer regaining old friendships and becoming close again. I felt empathy with Jennifer and her situation, especially as she is trying to find something positive in her life. The characters are well drawn and interesting, showing different sorts of personalities.

Several twists and turns, along with some unexpected surprises made the book an entertaining which I recommend.

A new author for me and a slightly different genre of book, but the description drew me in and I’m glad it did!
This book could have been a depressing read considering the subject matter but it was far from it, it was refreshing to see how the main character Jennifer handled her terminal diagnosis and the way she dealt with it! Jennifer’s frank no holds barred approach to her illness and the brilliance of her letter writing to the significant people in her life was a stroke of genius! This book illustrated the importance of being truthful, saying what you think and living each day as if it was your last! A moving heartwarming read about the complexities of human relationships wether it be with family, friends or lovers, told in a humorous, witty style that was enjoyable and entertaining!
Thank you net galley for this early read.

Great story where you really feel the character and what she is going through. Well written and keeping you enthralled through out.

Wow I absolutely loved this book! During a bit of a reading slump it was funny, sad, insightful and delightful in equal
measure.
Jennifer is told that she has just three months to live following feeling unwell. As she is still under 50 she feels that although she is happy at work the other areas of her life are somewhat lacking. She decides to tell just a few people, closest friends and colleagues and then try and set about putting to rights some relationships that have fallen by the wayside. In varying degrees of success she contacts her sister, her ex-husband (and his new wife that he left her for), her ex-boyfriend and her school best friend.
Without giving away the story we are taken along with Jennifer as she comes to terms with medical and relationship changes and the chance meeting with the man of her dreams, just at the wrong time.
I loved the writing style and would happily recommend this to others buy future books written by the author.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Many thanks to Random House and Melanie Candor for the opportunity to read and review this book. I totally enjoyed this book which was funny, quirky and really unusual. The main character is a really relatable , girls best friend that has you rooting for her from the first page. Jennifer's world is turned upside down when she gets a terminal diagnosis. She must reevaluate her life and spend the next 3 months mending all the important relationships, including her exes. This story will keep you tuned in and turning the pages. I literally read in one day. A funny poignant read.

I found this book both funny - made me laugh out loud - and moving - tears were shed. A really interesting premis, well crafted and delivered. Hard to say much more without giving plot secrets away but would recommend this as one to read!

Death and Other Happy Endings Melanie Cantor a life affirming five-star read. This won’t be for everyone as not everyone will be able to see the humour in the situation that Jennifer Cole finds herself in. Maybe it’s me but having found myself in something of a similar of not as dire situation I found myself loving this story. This just shows us how no matter what life throws at us, we can overcome anything we try and put our minds too. This will make you smile and laugh but at times it will shock you as well, this wont be for everyone, but I do hope lots will take a chance on it, as it is a great story.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Transworld Publishing for a chance to read and review this book.
This one was a hit for me. I loved it from the very first chapter. The plot was unusual and this has some hilarious moments. I loved the main protagonist and could definitely relate to her. There was more than One twist in the story and they are completely unexpected! I really didn't see this one coming. The story was brilliantly written and the characters were very relatable. I simply couldn't put it down. I loved this book and have to thank Random House UK for suggesting it. Hope you all like it as much as I did or more.lol.
Happy reading!

Loved this book - a roller coaster of emotions. Really do not want to give too much away! Having the chance to tell people what you think of how they have treated you in the past and delaing with all the loose ends. It's a must read!

I loved this book!
What would you do if you were told you only had three months to live? I don't think my reaction would have been anything like Jennifer's but how can we know... She figures that she now has the chance to right some wrongs, mend some broken relationships and has nothing to lose – which leads to some hilarity, heartbreak and closure. Brilliant women's fiction and a great new author to add to my list of favourites.

Given the title and the opening chapter, I wasn't too sure what kind of book it was I was going onto read but what a really enjoyable book it proved to be. Good characters and a good storyline that actually was the only one and not spoilt/ruined by others joining in. Very happy to recommend this book!

I didn't know what to expect when I started this. It opens with such a depressing premise that I was expecting it to go downhill. I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case and it was actually a really interesting, multi-layered read.

Although men don’t really get good press in this book, female friendship and family love feature highly. It was an enjoyable read and I genuinely wanted a happy ending for Jennifer.

Not too ‘gooey’ or romanticised and had some gritty parts too.

I’d happily read the sequels to Death and Other Happy Endings to find out what Jennifer does next.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest and fair review.

I enjoyed this book, it was well written and had me engaged from the beginning. Maybe another story to see what Jennifer does next

A really enjoyable book that had me pondering my own mortality and how I would react to getting the news that I had only months left. I enjoyed the humour that ran through the story and although it did become a bit predictable that's really how I wanted it to go.

Three and a half stars.

Jennifer Cole is a single middle-aged woman with a middle-management job in HR when her GP gives her the devastating news that she has a rare incurable blood disorder and only three months to live. The news causes Jennifer to do some thinking about past relationships and family ties culminating in her writing three letters: one to her ex-husband,; one to the love of her life; and one to her sister explaining all the things she never had the courage to say before.

At first jennifer finds that her letters have a good effect, and, despite the poor prognosis, she feels pretty good about life. But soon things aren't quite as rosy as they appear.

I did quite enjoy this novel about being brave enough to tell the truth (especially to yourself) and how people respond to imminent death. However, I also found it entirely predictable, maybe the blurb foreshadowed events, which kind of took the gloss off of things, I could see from the the start where this was going.

I think this is an enjoyable summer read by the pool, fun but not particularly memorable or unique.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
