I’ve been sitting on this book for days, maybe weeks because I didn’ know what to write in the review. There’s nothing much to say. I loved it until the end.
Logan was such a fun, sweet, caring character. He knew what was on the line when their feelings started to be much more than just friends. They both did.
It was one of the things I loved about this book. That they didn’t start a relationship even though it could destroy his career but that they tried to fight against those feelings.
I always love when one character wants to get some boy/girl and then the other character helps him/her get what they want. In this case, Jess wanted a guy named Ben, a guy who is completely different than Logan. Of course, Logan helps her trying to get Ben but in the process, they both fell for each other.
4.5 stars because there may be some things left to improve.
The Friend Zone by Sariah Wilson was such cute sport romance. When the unthinkable happens, Logan Hunt feels his life is over. No more football and no more NFL. Then he gets a very unexpected second chance. But this time there will be rules he has to follow and if he breaks one rule, he is out. Jess, the coach’s daughter, is a part of those rules and definitely off limits. But as they spend time together and get to know each other, things may not be so simple.
So, Logan and Jess try to remain in the friend zone, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. But each was determined to follow the rules. Logan was resolute to not lose this second chance. Jess was his tutor and was sweet and caring. Will these two be able to deny what they feel, or will they risk it all?
I loved every minute of this book!! From Logan and Jess's first meeting to the very last sentence, I was engrossed in their story. I loved that Logan and Jess really got to know each other because of the "rules". Since they are not able to have a romantic entanglement or physical relationship but they want to be around each other, they really get to know each other on a deeper level. Despite both of their past traumas, they haven't lost their sense of humor and the banter is fantastic. I especially loved Logan's little nicknames for Ben! This has such a great cast of characters (I'm looking at you, Bash, and your creative swearing), a slow simmer romance and fantastic writing.
I didn't want this story to end. Hands down my favorite Sariah Wilson by far.
The Friend Zone by Sariah Wilson is a sweet, swoony sports romance. I've read a lot of her other books and enjoyed them, and I was excited to read her latest. The Friend Zone did not disappoint.
Like many of her other stories, the characters are likable and relatable. I was rooting for Logan and Jess from the very beginning. They both had histories that held them back, but I love how they learned to love and trust each other despite the obstacles. And their HEA was wonderfully satisfying.
Even though I don't love sports (and know almost nothing about football), I was completely charmed by this story about second chances.

I'm not sure what to write about this book, to be honest. It just could not keep my interest at all, and I found it difficult to finish. There were some parts of the book that did make me laugh- especially all of Logan's puns- but the hero and heroine were likeable, not lovable, and the secondary characters were just 'okay' to me. As for the plot, I feel like it was the same thing over and over again.
That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to reading another of the author's books.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC, provided in exchange for an honest review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
It was a fun and easy read which doesn't drag on. The main characters are in college so they're still maturing in terms of dating and physical experience (well, one of them anyway).
The relationship Jess has with her father is lovely, and her talk with him at the end was well written. It's a shame Logan didn't get the same closure, however he handled it well. They're a good match and have a lot of moments that are pleasant to witness.
3.5 stars
This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it.
A lot sweeter than the books I usually read it still had me hooked. Logan and Jess had great chemistry and their banter was fantastic. Well paced, easy to read with plenty of sweet and LOL moments. Recommend if you’re looking for a light hearted college read.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I requested this book because I have read several other books by this author and loved them.
I love the concept of this story is fun and lovable - but there’s a sad part too! I enjoyed the good, clean story with a great moral compass. Logan is an upstanding guy that totally deserves the respect that he gets at his new school. Jess couldn’t have met a better match!
The story itself had some issues that I’m hoping get fixed before it is officially published.
I LOVEEEEED this story. Logan and Jess were sexy, funny and irresistible together. Their banter and connection was amazing. I hope we get more from them in the future!
I’ve read other Sariah Wilson books and loved them- this one did not have the same magic. I ended up not being able to finish and stopped about 30% in. There was no spark, nothing that made me want to keep going. Sadly, this was just boring!
I am a big fan of Sariah Wilson , especially her Lovestruck series, Thanks to netgalley and Sariah for sending me this ARC . For my honest review. Let me start by saying this book does not disappoint. You get all that is Sariah , the chemistry between characters that you can feel from the first page, to the banter between characters . This story has it all
It’s easy to love Logan and Jess .and root for them to be together. You see the cocky side to Logan but then you see that soft side when it comes to Jess., and even though Jess is so incredibly strong you see her vulnerability . To watch their relationship evolve during this story just hits you in the feels
If your reading this review and are new to Sariah you will be hooked! Get ready fo binge read , trust me !
Sariah Wilson is an author that I stumbled up a few months ago. I've read three or four of her books and really enjoyed them all. Her latest book, The Friend Zone, is entertaining especially if you enjoy a YA sports romance.
Logan has made mistakes--ones that almost cost him his promising football career. He has a second chance now with a new team at a new school. The first person he meets is Jess, a girl who is also trying to start over and recover from a traumatic event. Jess is also the coach's daughter and therefore off limits. But Logan and Jess keep ending up together despite both of their efforts to keep things in the friend zone.
A warm and funny read.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks NetGalley!
Sarah Wilson is a great author. this is another easy, fun, great read by her. Fully relatable and easy to like characters.
just a fun read overall, grab it!
Sariah Wilson is one of my one-click authors, she always deliver a story I fall in love with. The Friend Zone was all of that and more. Logan, a football player meets Jess, the coach's daughter and math tutor, they both agree to be just friends. Famous last words right? Jess will try her hardest to help Logan on the school and on the field. Logan finds himself facing a chemistry with Jess that is off the charts and is not one he can ignore.
This is my first read by Sariah Wilson and I'm pleasantly surprised.
THE FRIEND ZONE is not your typical New Adult, sports romance. I guess we get here some serious issues in plot line told in such relatable and likable way that you can't do nothing but love.
This is a love story between Logan, a football player who gets second chance finishing his degree and also play ball in collage and Jess, coach daughter who has been trough some stuff at her former collage and stays away from athletes. To keep things friend zoned is a set of rules that Jess's father installed. So there is no drugs, no drinking, studying, no swearing and yeah no dating. So even as the initial attraction is there Logan must follow the rules.
What follows is bunch of no dates where our hero and heroine get to know each other.
To show each other that they are more then what meets eye.
This is very cute and sweet read.
Now I'm curious about other side characters and their story, they definitely caught my eye.
Would recommend to all New Adult/ sport fans.
Thanks to Montlake Romance and Netgalley for copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This story consumed me. I have to say I read this book in one night and will definitely re-read it. The chemistry between Jess and Logan was undeniable from the start. This is a second chance for both of them for Jess to leave her old life behind and try to move forward. For Logan he has a bad habit of acting first and thinking later. This is his last chance to make his dream come true. Will he blow it by breaking the rules?
When I saw that Sariah Wilson had a new book up on NetGalley, I requested it immediately. I loved her #Lovestruck series, so I had high hopes for this one.
I’m glad I had those high hopes. This book has been wonderful. Wilson’s writing style shines through in this book, it’s witty, full of chemistry and connections. You feel for her characters like you would a close friend. The emotions that flow from the page when it came to Jess and her history were intense, and when it came to Logan. Blimey, the emotion was real. You felt his pain.
Let’s start with Logan. I liked Logan. I loved his cheesy ‘Ben’ jokes and the puns. I liked his easiness, his cockiness at times, and get he was humble. That word gets used to describe him in the book and I think it’s perfect. As I mentioned above, you really do feel his pain when it came to his history. It was awful, but he’s strong for it, and determination is one of his strong suits. The way he treats Jess, and the way he helps her, makes him an even better character.
Jess. I liked her a lot. She wasn’t a braggy girl, she was sweet and kind. She was funny, witty, caring. I felt for her a lot. I felt sorry for her but at the same time I admired her for being as strong as she was. She was written well and we got plenty of her history to understand her.
The chemistry between them was instant, and I’m glad it was more of a slow burn romance than an instant one. I’m also glad that Sariah Wilson stuck with it being a clean romance story like her #Lovestruck series. She writes them so well and I was afraid this one was going to be different, but it wasn’t and I’m happy with that.
Overall thoughts. Another great story with more fabulous characters. I’m interested in Ford’s story and Bash’s story so I’m hoping for either of those next.
I absolutely devoured this book. I got it on let's just say a Monday, and finished it completely by Tuesday night. I drove myself slightly insane and may have compromised an hour or two of sleep just to finish this darned book, and I have no regrets at all. I mean, what was I expecting though? I love all of Sariah Wilson's books (and I was thrilled to see a reference to her Royals of Monterra series!), and this certainly was no different.
Overall:
Okay, so right off the bat, the first thing that I adored about this novel, is that truly, you can feel the chemistry and the electricity between Logan and Jess. Whether or not that was a combined effort of Coach's 'rules' and just them together, or just the singular effort of one of them, is another question. From the first moment that they meet, you can immediately read and see the attraction.
Characters:
I always felt that Sariah Wilson has a knack for weaving in perhaps 'darker' themes or more serious issues within her novels, in this case, issues of sexual assault or implied rape, as well as alcoholism and emotional/physical abuse. Obviously, I'm not the best person to verify or comment on how she accomplishes this, but, from my point of view, Wilson maintains a well-rounded view and respect in the discussion of these issues that are indeed quite sensitive.
Jess - I adored Jess as our lead heroine in this story. She's strong, quick, witty, smart and complex, basically what any of us want in a heroine. She has a past and there are visible (or readable?) scars but she attempts to move past them, which I have to say I respect.
Logan - now everyone on cue, swoons when they read about Logan. And how could you not? (I mean just look at the smouldering football player on the cover.. - I'm a bit undecided on the cover personally...) A tough as nails football player (admittedly with his own issues), handsome, strong and determined to get his education to overcome the path his stepfather set him on. Personally, what I loved most about his character (apart from his incredible love for Jess), was his ambition and his dedication to his goals.
Now, a small side note on a certain not-so-nice female character. I'm not going to lie. I was a bit disappointed to have her annoying presence in the story, thinking that she was just a typical ditzy, mean Barbie-girl there as a foil to show how amazing Jess was. But I was pleasantly surprised towards the end of the novel, where there was some more depth revealed about Danielle. I didn't really like her still, but it was nice to see some more depth created for a character archetype that is often overdone as a means of pitting women against women.
ALSO - I'm really, truly hoping for Ford and Keilani's story. I would have loved to see more of them in this story, but would be over the moon if they get their own little happily ever after. Wilson seemed to set it up well....
Storyline and Plotting:
Perfect. Just enough action, with just enough movement. Perfect. That's all that I can say.
Overall - just a fantastic read. Cute, sweet, clean yet jam-packed with intense electricity.
Note: I was generously provided an ARC of this novel by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and views expressed are my own.
I received a copy of this from Montlake Romance and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I have never read a book by Sariah I didn’t like and this was no exception. A sweet romance about two people who had suffered and needed to see love. Logan was so funny and they really brought out the best in each other. Another win for Sariah!!
A lovely new adult romance read. Very much enjoyed the characters, and it was nice to see a father/daughter relationship.
Just the right amount of drama and romance
