A Merciful Promise is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series by Kendra Elliot and wowza talk about going out with a bang! This story engaged me right from the start and I devoured it as fast as I could with work and family. It was a nail-biting, edge of my seat, yelling at the pages kind of story.
This story was very fast-paced and jam-packed with action, suspense and finally resolution to some of the issues plaguing Mercy throughout the series. An excellent ending to one of my favorite series. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next.
This was a great ending to this series. I am really sad to see this series end. Mercy gets pulled into another dangerous situation. Truman is looking for a killer. Little do both know they are dealing with the same people. I loved the wedding at the end. If you have enjoyed the other books in this series you will enjoy this one also.
*I received a free copy of this book via the NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
This series is one of Kendra Elliot's best works!!!!! I will miss Mercy and Truman with all my heart. Kendra was at her absolute best, penning Mercy and Truman, raw characters from scratch, their first meeting to forming a relationship, and every book gave importance to the development of their relationship, even as they tackled their daily jobs of being an FBI agent and the Police Chief of Bend, respectively.
The coming together of Mercy and Truman is as intense as the plots that Kendra weaves, and A Merciful Promise finally gives them both their happily ever after, of course not before the adrenaline journey of danger that the story takes.
A brilliant read!
Another great addition to the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Very well written. Great read! As always the story is interesting and entertaining.
Its time to end the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Thanks Kendra Elliot for writing a fantastic series.
The ATF are investigating a local Militia group, when one of the undercover agents pull out. They request the help of Mercy. Giving her the back story of the girlfriend to the other undercover agent.
Meanwhile Truman is called to Britta's place. While walking her dog on her property she finds a dead body. Its the second body found in the same condition, and wont be the last. Mercy is finding the undercover work hard. Missing Truman, not sure if she can trust her partner. Trying not to bring attention to herself. When a little boy at the compound is taken ill. Mercy has to fight to get him the help he needs. Kendra Elliot does a fantastic job ramping up the tension and moving the story along.
To get the best enjoyment out of this book. I would recommend starting at the beginning of the series.
ARC requested from Net Galley. This is my voluntary review.
Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
I have loved all of the Mercy Kilpatrick adventures and A Merciful Promise is no exception. FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick is sent on a dangerous mission to infiltrate a militia running guns stolen from the ATF. This group does not trust easily and does not hesitate to eliminate members they suspect are not completely loyal, so Mercy is in danger from the time of her arrival. It is a fantastic, fast paced book that kept me riveted from start to finish. Loved the book and highly recommend.
I loved the idea of a female FBI Agent slash closet Prepper out there solving cases. Mercy was ousted from her family at eighteen when her views clashed with her father’s but she’s back in her hometown, after fifteen years, to solve a case. That’s how the first book introduces us to Mercy’s world and how she and Truman Daly, Eagle Nest’s Police Chief, meet and start their romance. Each book has centered on its own mystery which wraps up, but Mercy’s personal relationships with her family and with Truman were continuing arc throughout the series. I was captivated by both aspects, as well as intrigued by the whole Prepper concept. I like the idea of being self-sufficient and being able to survive if the world as we know it collapses.
This was probably the most nerve-wracking cases Mercy has taken on, and I was on the edge of my seat for her chapters, seriously worried about how it’d all work out! Being undercover in an isolated militia group with no outside contact and without backup easily available was a dangerous situation for sure! I felt for Truman, Kaylie and Owen as Mercy’s fate is unknown to them. Truman had his own murder case to solve: a naked man killed execution style. Britta Vale, from the last book, figures into this story as well as Detective Bolton, and I wonder if there might be a spinoff featuring the two of them in the future?
I came to the Mercy Kilpatrick series when five books were already out and binge read them, one right after the other, the series is that good! Didn’t know this was the last book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series and I’m really sad, but I will say the series ended on a lovely high note and I see potential for a spinoff or two. I’m crossing my fingers that’ll happen!
The Merciful Death has been a great series and it's always fun following Mercy and Truman's journey and this book was no different. I absolutely loved the mystery aspect of this book and loved seeing Mercy and Truman finally tie the knot as well. They truly form a beautiful couple. The writing was amazing and if you're a fan of the previous books, I am sure you'd love this.
This was an absolutely awesome ending to the Mercy Kilpatrick series! There is sitting on the edge of your seat suspense! I found myself holding my breath a few times. The writing is phenomenal!
I always know I’m in for a treat with a new release from Kendra Elliott. When I received an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley, I eagerly agreed to read and review the sixth, and last book, in her Mercy Kilpatrick series. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
As with all of Kendra Elliot’s books, the characters are real and flawed, the plot is intriguing and there’s plenty of emotions running high. One of the things I enjoy most about her books is the suspenseful scenes. Her action scenes are graphic and send chills through me. She has a way of keeping me on the edge of my seat from the first page until the last.
I love Mercy’s character, and in each of these books, it only grows stronger. While she’s complicated and has a lot of pent-up issues, she never lets them hold her back. She’s fierce in her determination to be the best FBI agent possible and protects her niece like a mama bear. In this one, all doubts regarding Truman are gone, and she has given him her trust completely.
Truman is a drool-worthy hero any woman will love, and I’m one of them. He’s an honorable, caring man, and he’s so patient with Mercy. He never lets anything rattle him, whether it’s a case or Mercy. His kindness and care to Ollie melts my heart, and the bond he’s formed with Mercy’s niece is touching.
By this final book, the love between Mercy and Truman is rock solid and both are looking forward to their wedding. The love is so strong. A Merciful Promise is the fulfillment of the romance that has spanned six books, and I love that they found their happy ending.
There isn’t as much mystery in this final book, but it was still a shock when all is revealed near the end. Ms. Elliott does not disappoint when it comes to the details. She builds the suspense throughout the book until the climax.
If you enjoy romantic thrillers with amazing characters, and so much action your heart is pumping fast, then you will love A Merciful Promise as much as I did. Even though this is the last book in this series, I don’t believe it’s the last time we’ll see Mercy and Truman. Ms. Elliott will bring them back as secondary characters in her future books. That is mentioned in her author notes. Happy reading!
Well I don't know what to say. Ms. Elliot wrote another fantastic book. You know when the Mercy Kilpatrick books came out, I thought, "Self, do you really want to read about a prepper, sounds kinda...eh". But then I thought, "Self, it is Kendra Elliot you should give it a try," and that began my love of the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Mercy and Truman have been taken me on such a ride. There have been some "Oh Crap did that really happen" moments," and "yeah that happened". That is why I am so sad that this is where the road ends for Mercy and Truman, but in true Kendra Elliot style, the book was outstanding. There was murder, crazy fanatical militia, Mercy, Truman, the Kilpatrick family and more!
The storyline kept me engaged well past my bedtime. I just couldn't put it down. There was just so many questions I needed answers too, and then I just need to know everything. And then I go to the end,.... what a perfect ending to an incredible series. I didn't want it to end, but if it did have to end, I am glad it ended the way it did....I will Mercy and Truman, I do hope to see them again down the road. Ms. Elliot you have written and incredible series, I feel like these people are family and I will miss these characters! I look forward to your next endeavor. You readers out there. Pick up this series, it is great and now, it is a complete series.
WOW! Mercy goes out with a bang. This is a fast paced nerve wracking action adventure that shows us just how very far Mercy has grown and thank goodness she has something to live for, to keep going for because she will be tested. This is an exciting finale to a fantastic series and I for one will miss Mercy and Truman.
You can NEVER go wrong with a book by Kendra! Yes...she’s that good! Full of suspense and insane ups and downs- i loved this book!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful on the edge of your seat read. You will not be able to put this one down! It is my favorite in the Mercy series and so sad it is the final book for Mercy and Truman. Kendra Elliot has hit another home run with this one!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. It’s been action packed with an excellent storyline running through it.
Kendra’s writing always impacts on my sleep as I can never put the books down!
Another brilliant book.
I will miss Mercy and Truman and their family.
Thanks to NetGalley, Kendra Ellliot and Montlake for the opportunity to read and review this awesome series of books.
Thrilling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It was well written and flowed well and was easy to read. One you won’t want to end
This final story featuring FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick was a fantastic read. That grabbed me from the start and never let go. Thanks in part to the plot, which was well paced, suspenseful and came together incredibly well. But also because of these characters who are so endearing to me now, and having been with them from almost the start (I'm still to read the first book in this series) I want them to survive, be happy and live a happy life.
And although this story is very touch and go and everything Mercy has learnt growing up as the child of preppers is needed for her to survive her undercover operation. I could not put it down and I have to say I'm sad to see this series end. But I can't think of a better way for it to finish and I'll certainly be rereading this series for many years to come.
Would happily recommend.
A Merciful Promise is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series and would be better read as part of the series to get the feel for Mercy's backstory. The ATF have an undercover case that only Mercy seems to have the skill set to fill. Mercy should be preparing for her wedding but instead she's pretending to be a nurse in a militia compound looking for stolen guns. Truman is hit with a series of murders to investigate when he just wants Mercy back in his arms. Twisting and turning, the story moves from one dangerous situation to another for Mercy as she fights the bad guys and the clock to earn her HEA. Suspenseful and fast paced, the story pleases as it brings Mercy's story to a satisfying close. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
A Spectacular Suspense .
I really enjoyed reading this story .
I'm sad to see this outstanding series end . I look forward to reading the next series from Kendra Elliot . This story is action packed and off the chart Suspenseful . I read it straight through till the end it's so good . Mercy goes undercover into a militia/cult and most of these people are absolutely psychopaths or brain washed . I was on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns . The story is so unpredictable . Mercy is one strong , tough and definitely fearless woman . I think this is definitely a five star read . Truman has no communication with Mercy while she's undercover . Soon The undercover job and Truman's murder case are connected . Mercy is in more danger then anyone thought . This is one of the best Suspense /romance I've read . It's fantastically written just all out amazing . I highly recommend taking the time to read . A favorite of 2019 .
