Who doesn't love an angsty romance read? Add in a Greek Tycoon, a vulnerable female character that finds her back bone, misunderstanding and a good old chase across Greece.
I always love to read a romance like this, it has the angst, the love, the female character who finds herself and the grumpy and brooding male character who finally realises he loves the female lead when everything is lost. This book was no exception, a really quick and easy read that had me finishing the book in one sitting.
I always enjoy Annie West’s books and this one did not disappoint! A bride who overhears her husband admit the reasons he married her and the, who runs away. Only to be pursued. By her bridegroom has all the tenets of a good storyline...and it did
I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a job to put it down!
Thoroughly recommended
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy in return for an honest review
A very good read and one I can highly recommend to others.
I could not put this down.
Thoroughly enjoyable with an amazing cast of characters that you cannot help but engage with.
Wedding Night Reunion In Greece is written by Annie West and is the first novel in the passion in paradise mini series. Emma Piper is Christos Karides’, a Greek tycoon, runaway bride. She married him in good faith but immediately after the wedding heard him tell a friend that he had only married her for convienience as his young step niece, Anthea, has just become his wars and he needs a suitable wife and that he finds her sultry cousin more attractive than her. Heartbroken and embarrassed she runs away to her family’s Villa in Corfu. Christos tracks her down and they sign a contract agreeing to remain married for one year. Sparks fly between the pair of them but can Christos convince Emma that he really does love her?
I enjoyed this book but I didn’t love it. I found that the chapters relating to them becoming attracted to one another was dragged out and could have been condensed whilst not losing the focus of the story. The heroine knows her own mind and is prepared to stand up for herself whilst Christod is more of a 21 century man, willing to take on a young child and care for her.
I loved the setting of Corfu for this book, and could feel the warmth of the sun, the ripening olives and the soft whoosh of the sea in the private cove. The characters were also interesting, although I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of the 'virgin' stories and had I known this was one, it may have caused me to think twice. However, that aside, I liked the two leads and the story moved along well.
I did find that occasionally the author would choose a more unusual word when a simpler one would have done, and it could from time to time cause the sentence to feel forced, throwing the reader out of the story.
Anthea, his ward, came across as a bit of an afterthought. She doesn't feature much in the story, although I liked it as a plot device, and I feel it would have been better if she'd actually had more of a role not just a few walk on parts. She also seemed to speak in quite a babyish tone for the age she was purported to be.
Definitely an enjoyable read though, and a great way to take a trip to Greece from the comfort of your armchair!
Emma heard from the bathroom window how her newly married husband of less than 5min only married her because of property and connection, so she fled. He hunted her down and try to make their marriage work.
I enjoyed reading this book and will gladly recommend it.
When Emma overhears her new husband talking to his friend on their wedding day she is devestated by what she hears and flees to the island of Corfu where she remembers happy times growing up. She hopes the island can work its magic and repair her broken heart. Her husband Christo, his ego bruised sets our to track her down and reclaim his bride.
Once in Corfu Emma starts to plan her new life and comes up with a way earn money from the family villa but then suddenly Christo arives and turns her life and plans upside down. He begs her to give him one more chance and slowly she finds herself falling all over again but will Christo manage to convince her that he feels the same way and isn't just after a marriage of convenience?
This is the first book in the passion in paradise series and the story throws in some tantalising teasers for the next book in the series and I can't wait to see what happens in the next one!
An enjoyable romance with interesting characters and a story of overcoming mistakes and mistrust when finding love.
What I enjoyed about this story was it's interesting opening with the wedding of Emma and Christo where all is not as it seems; Emma might believe she has married for love, but at the reception she overhears her new husband telling a friend that he only married her for the rights to a property and business deal. Cue Emma fleeing the scene to her family home in Corfu, and Christo realising that his feelings for Emma perhaps run deeper than he let's on.
There is plenty conflict which gives depth to the plot, and Christo is made to work for Emma's forgiveness, and by the end, you do believe in Emma and Christo as a couple with the potential for happiness. There is also a nice sub-plot with Christo's orphaned niece, Anthea, which shows a different side to his character.
An enjoyable read.
Wedding Night Reunion In Greece is the first book in the Passion in Paradise series by Annie West.
Emma Piper is destroyed when on her wedding day after the vows have been said, she overhears her husband pretty much saying that he chose her because of her reliability, and the fact that she would be the perfect person to look after his ward. Angry with herself for ever thinking a man like him could be attracted to and love a woman like her, Emma flees before having to face the man who has broken her heart.
She goes to Corfu to the family villa determined to not just lick her wounds. She will need to provide a living for herself and she has an idea to turn the villa into a destination weddings kind of affair. She covered her tracks well so is shocked when her husband arrives there.
Greek billionaire Christo Karides is that man. He felt humiliated that his wife ran from the wedding and that he had to search for her afterwards. He is angry that the woman he thought reliable had done something to prove otherwise. He is also shocked when he sees her that she isn't the little wallflower he has treated her as, but she is a spitfire who is absolutely fuming with him for his treatment of her. Treatment he hadn't even realised she knew about.
He won't let the public think that his marriage has ended in farce, and he still needs somebody to look after his ward. He makes a deal with Emma that she can't say no to giving him one year and also one missed wedding night before he will let her divorce him. The thing is that the more time he spends with her, the more he sees a different side to her, and all of a sudden he finds that the little mouse he married is a very attractive sexy lioness! One that bonds with his ward, and one that he could very easily fall in love with. Have they got any chance of a happy ending? Well of course they do, but you will have to read the book to find out how it happens.
I enjoyed this book, the pace of it was perfect, the setting even more so. As for our hero, Christo can be a little overbearing at times, but when you think of the past he has had, the upbringing, you can understand perhaps why he is the way he is. Emma, well she is perfect. She knows her mind, she knows what she wants, and even though she doesn't perhaps realise it at first, she isn't that upset about Christo's demands before allowing her a divorce. She finds out that even though she loved him before, he is far more than she realised. Far better than she realised.
What I love about this author's books, this one, of course, included is that they always have elements that make you smile and laugh. Drama is good, but it needs to be offset with some humour and of course a beautiful romance. Annie West's books tick all the right boxes and I am happy to recommend them.
Love love love!
This has to be one of the best books that I have read for a while and from the beginning it made me smile
Christo married Emma for convenience thinking she would be a "gentle and sensible homebody" who would be able to look after his niece. Emma overhears him telling his friend this and heartbroken decides to run away on her wedding day with the help of her best friend. She escapes to her families villa in Corfu to start to plan for her new life which includes a divorce from Christo.
Christo follows Emma to Corfu only to learn that his sweet biddable wife is far from what he expected, Emma has fire, passion and determination and isn't afraid to argue with Christo, something he isn't used to
Emma becomes more likeable as the story develops and Christo has unexpected depths which are revealed via Emma talking to him leading to Christo looking inside himself
I liked the relatively even split of the story from Emma and Christo's point of view, it helps me to warm to the characters and makes it flow better in my opinion. One persons point of view throughout the whole story has led me to get really annoyed with characters previously...
This book is light hearted but with more serious undertones and it made me want to keep reading (even if I ended up staying up half the night and that doesn't happen very often!)
A fun and summery romance

Oh I do so love a Mills & Boon Modern tale just as the weather’s starting to get warmer. THey’re full of lovely, warm locations (you won’t be surprised to hear it’s Greece in this particular story), hunky billionaires and the women who capture said billionaire hearts.
There’s not much prevarication with this tale - we get stuck right into the storyline and Emma overhearing the conversation that breaks her heart and leads to her fleeing her wedding day. It really starts as it means to go on as you can’t help but keep the pages moving to get to the next bit of the story.
Christo is everything you want a hero to be - especially a Greek billionaire hero. He’s grumpy, self-assured, cocky, arrogant and so damn sure that his way is the best and only way. Oh, yes - he’s due for a good comeuppance and downfall due to love. I honestly didn’t much care for him for the first wee while in the book.
Emma was also a delight. She was sweet, innocent and gullible - which disappeared pretty darn fast once she heard Christo’s unfeeling conversation about her. I was cheering for her as she took control of her life and left her ‘husband’ in the lurch. And when he tracked her down and told her she should apologise to him - I cheered some more as she told him where he could go!
And then we got a nice bit of back and forth as they danced around their attraction and distrust of each other. It was fun and I do like a couple who hide their attraction behind bickering - especially since timid Emma gave as good as she got.
Where it kind of fell down for me was when the pair started to reconcile. Christo still seemed to manipulate Emma by criticising her ‘running away’ instead of confronting him after hearing the conversation. The argument and make-up that led to more - it just felt a little wrong to me.
After that, the book went a little flat for a few chapters, before picking up near the end. I was expecting a big misunderstanding so was pleased that the author went a different way to get to the big declaration scene - which was sweet and a perfect conclusion to Emma and Christo’s story.
My complaints about the story - other than the slightly flat section - included the ridiculous overuse of the word ‘till’. Seriously?! Sloppy, informal writing in a book makes my blood boil. Sad but true.
I wasn’t sold on the little girl in the story. I question her age vs the way she talked/behaved - and she really felt more like a plot device than a full-bodied character. She could have been removed from the story and not a jot of difference would have been made.
And while I liked the writing style - and it really kept my interest - I did feel that there was a bit of thesaurus work going on at times. Every now and then a word jarred and felt forced - in direct contrast to the rest of the book, or even the rest of the paragraph.
The setting of Greece made me long for warmer months and made me long for crystal blue seas, skies and golden, sandy beaches. And this was the ideal romance for a beach read - or for wishing you were reading on the beach. It was a cute, sweet and fast read and gets you right in the mood for summer. 3 stars.
I loved how the book opens to a wedding and after coming full circle finishes with a wedding.
Emma overhearing her new husband Christo discussing how docile and convenient his new bride is to his best man, decides to runaway and figure out how to get out of her current predicament.
Christo not knowing where his new wife is, not one to let anything or anyone slip away from him finds her.
Will they manage to sort out their differences, or is it too late?
Read on to see how the sparks fly between these two.
This romantic tale features two popular tropes; runaway bride and marriage of convenience. Dutiful, kind and respectful Emma has just married cynical, sexy and world-weary Christo. The attraction is there, but she agrees to the marriage to honour her recently deceased grandfather, who wanted her safely married to a good man.
No stranger to loss, Emma is looking forward to making the best of her marriage, when she overhears Christo and his best friend talking. What she hears has her running to her legacy property in Corfu, to recover and recoup. When Christo follows, he wants his wife and his wedding night.
This is a sensual, traditional romantic story. Emma and Christo seem irreparably divided by what Emma hears and Christo’s lack of emotional involvement. He wants Emma to help with his niece who he is responsible before. Christo’s emotional journey is gradual and often painful, but his interaction with Emma changes him.
This is a genuine, emotional romance, with two glamorous but damaged protagonists. Their love story is fraught with predominately internal conflict, the chemistry is undeniable, and the ending is worth the angst and heart-searching the couple has to endure.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
It was ok, but unfortunately, it was just that. I adore reading romance novels, but unfortunately, the way it was all forced to happen, it was actually quite frustrating for me. I have read many books with the premise of "blackmail", but this one I did not think it was well managed. He is in the wrong and he's the one forcing her to accept a deal that it's not actually beneficial to her and when she says no, he threatens the business of her family and ruining them. I just couldn't cope with how much grovelling a woman that was NOT in the wrong had to kind of do in the end. She literally had nothing to prove to him, he has wronged her in so many ways and deceived her from the start - there is no redemption for him in my eyes.
Romanced or coerced, into a marriage that has hidden feelings, which gradually emerge into a full blown romantic love. Where true love wins through, with a happy ever after ending.
