Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

This sampler does everything you’d want it to; it has you paying attention. On the edge of your seat for the entire read. I can’t wait for more.

A fantastic page turner of a thriller which promises on its astonishing premise.

Don't expect too much in terms of characterisation, this is a thriller which emphasises plot and pacing throughout and looks not only at the crimes, but at the fall out from being a victim of crime.

This will undoubtedly make McKinty's name and will hopefully lead readers back to his fantastic Sean Duffy series.

What is being asked of you may seem impossible now but it is entirely within your capabilities.”

Rachel drops her daughter Kylie at the bus stop, same as usual. But she then receives a call to say Kylie has been kidnapped and to keep her safe, Rachel much follow the rules.,..She’s in the Chain now !

The voice tells her, pay $25,000 to a given account, or Kylie will die, no police or Kylie will die, she must follow the rules or Kylie will die!

The rules are complex, but basically Rachel has to kidnap another child, make the same demands as she has been given…..only once these have been followed will Kylie be released, unharmed. She must not break the chain!

What follows is one of the most tense thrillers I’ve ever read, with that most searching of questions, What would you do to save your child? Could you kill another child? How far would you go?

Rachel is a fantastic character, struggling with her cancer diagnosis and the ever present threat of reoccurrence (I know how this feels), yet finds the strength of a mother bear defending its cub….

Incredibly plotted by Adrian McKinty, with complex rules in a ‘game’ that seem all too plausible, which makes this terrifying. Completely believable and utterly compelling… …it really is a must read.

Thank you to The publishers, the author and NetGalley for a free copy of the ebook. This is my honest, unbiased review.

Absolutely the most sizzling thriller of the summer. Unnerving, disturbing and addictive to the point where I was reading faster and faster to find out what was going to happen. The Chain deserves to be added to the classic, must-reads of the thriller genre. It is that good!

Since reading an excerpt of The Chain, I've been counting the days until it's published so that I can get my hands on the full version of it to finish reading it. I've also been lucky enough to buy a signed limited first edition, first print of this book to display on my bookcase. As you can tell, I can't stop gushing about this book and I've not even finished reading it yet!

Believe all the hype. This book is going to be BIG!

Many thanks to Netgalley for this ARC excerpt for which I have given my voluntary and unbiased review.

This is a review of a sample of The Chain. I had really high expectations having seen all the hype around this book, but I was surprised by how clunky the language is in this book.

A sample is not enough to go off in my opinion, but I wasn't entirely sure I'd want to keep reading if I had the whole book.

I was only approved to read the sampler which was the first few chapters. The sampler was gripping and I can’t wait to read the whole novel. The basic premise is that your child has been kidnapped and to get them back you need to kidnap someone else’s child.
The premise is fantastic and certainly unique. It’s on my Amazon list to read the whole novel when it’s released. This book will be at the top of my pile.
Thanks to Orion and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent start to this incredibly terrifying sounding novel! I hope to receive the full one!! McKinty has quickly trapped us into a suspenseful plot, which I can only imagine does not get any brighter

This is an absolutely sensational opening few chapters. I’ve been excited about this book since I first heard the premise and it looks like it’s going to really deliver.

This sampler features a number of genuinely heart racing moments and the pace is relentless from the very beginning. It’s difficult to imagine what could happen next - most of it is too scary to contemplate but I really need to see what happens.

I’m from Belfast and only too aware of the brilliance of Adrian McKinty but I’m hoping this is the book that really makes him a household name. From what I’ve read so far this looks like it’ll be the case. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.

This chapter sampler is phenomenal! I love the idea behind the story, it’s very original and has sucked me right in. I can’t wait to read the whole book! The formatting was great for the most part with just one weird jumbled up sentence.

Fingers crossed I get approved for the whole book !

There is a number of excellent Irish (particularly Northern Irish) writers working at present and Adrian McKinty is among the best of them. I am always excited when I find someone who has not read his books and press 'Dead I Well May Be' into their hands, envious of the adventure they are embarking on. McKinty's Sean Duffy series may be even better than that earlier Michael Forsyth trilogy. He is such a talented writer who merits success on a bestseller level. Perhaps his writing is too clever, or the Northern Ireland settings too niche, for the mass-market. 'The Chain' with its USA setting and immediate action could change things.

"The Chain' is a fiendishly clever idea - ordinary people forced to kidnap others loved ones to secure the release of their own family members. I have only read the first three chapters and cannot wait to read the rest. If any writer deserves to have a huge hit it is Adrian McKinty and I hope 'The Chain' is the novel that makes him a household name.

Omg,omg, those were the most Intense, spine chilling and breath taking First three chapters of a book that I have read in a long time.

The reader is thrust into the action from the very first page, drawing you into Kylie and Rachel's nightmare and causing you to root for the two characters instantly. Rachel is thrust into every parents living nightmare. Her daughter has been kidnapped and Rachel has been ordered to kidnapped someone else's loved one or Kylie will die. What is she going to do? What's going to happen next? What would you do if you found yourself trapped in the same nightmare as Rachel?

I want to know what's going to happen next, preferably as soon as possible, pleeeeeaaasssseeee

Oh my - I need to read the rest of this book, ASAP!!! Now, right now.

A phone call that tells you your child has been kidnapped and you're part of The Chain, to get her back you have to kidnap a child too, so your child will be released. Dont tell the police, Don't Break The Chain!

Yes please...... more ......... This has book of the Summer 2019 written ALL over it !

I am a fan of Adrian McKinty's books and this sample from The Chain makes it a definite book that I want to read in full

From the sample it definitely seems to live up to the hype and blurb

HA! Well that's got my interest. I need the rest now please. Yes now. I need to know about Rachel! Oh my goodness! What? How? Why? When? etc

Do you know when a book comes along and you need to just read and read fast to find out what is going on?
Brilliant premise!

Sometimes a book comes along and you get the feeling that it will be THE book everyone will be talking about. I get this feeling from this book

I have only read the sampler but it blew me away and I was left wanting more - A lot more. It grips you from the very first line, delivering an original breathtaking concept tbat will ensure parents will never sleep again. .

Thank you for the sampler copy. The Chain went from 0 to 100 in less than three lines! My hands are still shaking, my heart-rate over 90 whilst laying down as I am begging the NetGalley Gods and Goddesses for the full ARC.

This was the quickest three chapters and let me be clear, whilst I have no intention of being part of "The Chain" per say, I MUST READ THE WHOLE BOOK NOW!

I'm generally not the biggest fan of third person narrative and intense dialogue, but the story has already taken me captive and making me want more in less than a couple of pages.

I need to know if Rachel has what it takes to not break The Chain; I need to know what happens to Kylie and I need to know where this story goes.

Watch out, everyone - be vigilant. Remember: "Number one: you are not the first and you will certainly not be the last. Number two: it's not about the money - it's about The Chain".

BRING IT ON! (Meanwhile. I'm breathing in and out of a paper bag to stop the hyperventilation)
