It is about a girl named Anna and she's the daughter of a ghost hunter who, after his wife died, has a very serious case of hoarding. She's being mocked in school about her father's job and she started being embarrassed to be seen with him. But of course weird things started to happen and she's thrown in the middle of it and is the only one who figures out and solves the paranormal mystery in the end with some help. So in the end, she doesn't care what people thinks and starts liking being a ghost hunter.

I love a good paranormal investigation story as well as a good ghost hunting team and I was really looking forward to those parts in the book. I wish we would have gotten more of that.

I can also see our main character had an interesting and expected growth through the book and even if I was a bit unsure about her at the beginning, her story took her where she needed to be. She was able to learn.

Parts of it are very well written, and parts move a little too slowly, but it’s a quick read. So overall I did enjoy the reading experience and would read more books by the author.

I found this book to be very entertaining. For some reason beyond me I could relate to the main character and was completely immersed in this story.

Eh. I might buy a copy of this for the classroom, but I wouldn't adopt it. It felt a bit too cheesy and I don't think the majority of my students would like the vibe. I remember getting this around the same time as The Babysitters Coven and they were similar in that they both gave Buffy vibes, but this was definitely the more lackluster of the two. Didn't hate it, but could also forget it.

The Ghost Hunter's Daughter was even better than I expected. The suspense kept me reading the entire book in one sitting.

Can't wait to read more by this author in the future.

Thank you East Side Press and Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was definitely not a good book for me. It seemed really drawn out on the teenage angst and not much of the supernatural. That disappointed me more than anything else. The writing seemed a bit immature as well, I just couldn't continue on with it.

This one just feel short for me. I’ve never seen the Supernatural, so I can’t compare it to that. I just couldn’t stay interested and I wanted it to hurry an end.

Anna is a 16 years old girl that is Know in her school as the ‘goblin girl’ because her father is a paranormal ‘cleaner’ of hunted objects. She lost her mom when she was a child by a demon that possessed her. With her two best friends Dor and Freddy and her father new assistant she has to get face to face with a evil that is in Bloomtown.
I got this book on netgalley because I found it so interesting and the cover was so pretty, and OMG I’m so piss of with myself because I took so much time to read it! This book is so cool and the main character is really interesting!
I got in with some expectations and it was paid of, the book got me hook and I had so much pleasure reading it.

I liked the writing of the autor, she did a really good job making the reader fell the how angry the character were and how confuse Anna was.
It was a easy reading and I felt like I had read something by this author before because of this.

This was worth the reading and I feel like more people have to read this book so I can talk with them about it!
I with this would come to Brazil because would be something I would like to reread again in portuguese.

I really liked this YA novel about a high school girl whose father is known as the local ghost hunter. She lost her mom when she was very young to a demonic possession, and now things are going from bad to worse. She finds that her father has been hoarding much more than he let on, everyone in town is acting weird and hateful, and Anna, her best friends Dor and Freddy are arguing and not getting along. I loved how the author revealed the town's situation in stages, and I loved how empowering the book was for young women. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.

I was so excited to read this, it sounded really good. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. I got 50% into it and I didn't find that I could connect with any of the characters. I found it a little too slow for my liking.

Looking for YA horror? Tis the season for spooky stories and Ghost Hunter's Daughter will have you afraid of the dark. Anna was a normal little girl with normal parents. Her dad was a plumber and her mom was loved by all the kids in the neighborhood. Until her mother was possessed by a demon, then Anna's days became very scary. Was it a good or bad mommy day? Then Anna's mother committed suicide, her father became a depressed hoarder who was obsessed with ghosts and Anna became the Goblin Girl.
Being a teenager is hard enough without Anna's problems, at least she has two good friends. Then come the solar flares and people in Bloomtown begin acting beyond weird. Can Anna use her ability to see the supernatural to solve the town's problems and get everyone and everything back to normal?
This is the perfect novel to get you in the Halloween mood.

The Ghost Hunter’s Daughter isn’t the most literary book, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have fun because dammit, this book is a lot of fun! I have a soft spot for kind of hokey supernatural young adult fiction, and Caroline Flarity’s novel here satisfies that soft spot. Parts of it are very well written, and parts move a little too slowly, but it’s a quick read. So much fun!!

I didn't find the YA story thrilling but enjoyed the topic enough for 3 stars. The main character shows increased maturity over the course of the story. She learns to appreciate her dad and friends, while not bowing to the bullies.

This is not your typical YA. Please be aware of trigger warnings and extremely dark themes in this book. As well as very much needed editing in this book.

DNF at 40%. I held off on writing this review because I hate note finishing a book, but this one just isn’t for me. I was expecting more of a female Winchester. The story felt very flat, and I feel like I made it almost halfway and not much had happened. 😩

If you like teenage angst mixed with the supernatural, then The Ghost Hunter's Daughter is for you. I think if I was younger I would appreciate this book more. I found that there was too much teen angst and not enough supernatural. Interesting premise, but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

YA Horror is not nearly as popular a category as almost every other. So, most of the YA Horror I've read hasn't really hit the spot for me. I was rather pleasantly surprised by The Ghosthunter's Daughter. First let me say that this book was not well served by being billed as Supernatural meets Mean Girls in the blurb. This book is its own entity, and I think people have certain expectations when familiar and well loved past shows/books are used as descriptors. There are some deep and important aspects touched on in this book, but it's also spooky, dark, and fun. 3 stars.

When I requested this book from Netgalley, I was mainly attracted by the unique title. I didn’t care for the synopsis, but I was sold from that and the cover alone.

Fast forward to quite a few months now, the Ghost Hunter’s Daughter was able to provide me with a surprising experience.

As a YA debut, this book gave an attempt at normal teen life then crossed it over with supernatural elements. Anna, our lead, experiences normal high school dilemmas like bullies, friends, crushes, and relationships with parents. The catch is that there is a demon disrupting the peace in her small town and it makes people become the worst version of themselves.

If you notice the trigger warnings above, I have to admit I was surprised by all of those. I was expecting some cute PG horror, but there were some serious themes touched on by this book. Though there was a considerable amount of sleuthing, the teenage drama sideplots also seeked to balance it all out.

All in all, it was still an entertaining read. It wasn’t what I was expecting coming on to the book, but it still gave me a fun adventure for a few hours.

Being a horror nerd means any blurb that uses the words ‘demon’ and ‘haunted’ hypes me up, so I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of this book. However, I didn’t like it.

This book was not quite what I expected after reading the blurb. ‘Sixteen-year-old Anna sees things from another world, the spiritual world, a skill that isn't exactly useful in high school. It's bad enough that her mother, possessed by a demon, took her own life when Anna was a child, a loss she remains tortured by. Now her father makes his living "clearing" haunted objects, and Anna's job as his assistant makes her a social misfit. Most kids in her suburban New Jersey town refer to her just as Goblin Girl‘. The book is aimed at YA audiences, even though I’m a bit older ! I enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and there is a strong supernatural theme throughout. There are trigger warnings with this book so I would advise people to pay close attention to them. But generally this was a good read.

The Ghost Hunter's Daughter is a YA horror featuring Anna, a teenager still reeling from the loss of her mother , while dealing with her father's hoarder tendencies. The big difference is that he tends to hoard not just junk but also haunted and cursed objects, because he earns his living cleansing them of their psychic residues. This oddball lifestyle combined with the hoarding makes Anna something of a social outcast at school, and even among the few friends she has, there is a tension developing as they blur the lines between friendship and something more. A sudden surge in violence throughout the town is the first sign that something strange is going on, and its up to Anna and her friends to figure it out and save their home from disaster.
This was a fast and fun read, the horror elements are there but they are quite mild, nothing too disturbing. For me the most interesting thing is the dynamic between Anna and her dad, I have never seen a hoarder character depicted in a book before and I thought it was well handled here. I read a review copy courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.
