In Million Dollar Marriage, Luke and Nell separately sign up for reality show which can lead them to big financial gain and love. I adore this book. Nell and Luke develop a wonderful connection. I really enjoyed the characters' adventures. So much fun! Thanks Montlake Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.
Another excellent story by Katy evans! All of her heroes hold a special place in my heart and Luke is no exception, he’s witty and sexy and just swoon worthy!
The plot is unique and fun and just worth the read for anyone who likes a great story with steamy sexy love!
Definitely would read again, this author and her words strike a chord in me that I can't forget. It's fun and different and worth the read.
This author always writes memorable books.
Woohoo! What a great book this was. I loved the romance, the story flowed so well. I just loved this. Well done.
This was such a good read. Really entertaining and funny. Luke and Nell are both broke and in need of some serious money. With both wanting to clear their debt, they are willing to do almost anything even if that means going on reality tv.
The book was a sweet, fun read. The storyline is unique with great writing. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone needing a fun read.
Nell is in a huge amount of student loan debt and she has no way of paying back. She thought it would be a quick solution to audition and say I do to a complete stranger on reality TV. It should be ok, right? A quick business transaction that’s all. Luke is in somewhat of a sticky situation too. He needs money and fast. The show is a great way to get that money he desperately needed. Luke and Nell couldn’t be more polar opposite. They can’t stand each other but oh the chemistry doesn’t lie. I like the plot idea. Fun, sweet, feel-good romance.
Book was different. It was like a real life Bachelor. I found it interesting and it kept my attention but I didn't find it to be a blowout read. It was a book that I saw the ending coming before it took place which is always a huge disappointment. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun light read.
This story is AMAZING! I felt captivated into it from the very first page.
Million Dollar Marriage is A story where two Total opposites are put together and have to say "I do" to participate in the contest. Sounds crazy? Yes, it is but Ms. Evans did a great job with this one creating those differences and slowly blooming emotions And relationship. It was a push and pull from both sides which made it really good and intriguing as both sides we're getting to know each other as well as discovering themselves while participating in the race.
Nell and Luke were both true in themselves which made reading and growing for them so much easier. I devoured that book!
Who can survive a race with a spouse that you just met and create a bond in it? No one is safe here. Remember it's a tv production so expect twists and turns of any kind.
What happens when 2 people are picked for a reality show called "Million Dollar Marriage"? This is the question that both Luke and Penelope/Nelle has about being selected and having no idea what the show is really about. All each of them know is that when they are still in the game at certain points of the show, their winnings increase. Both Luke and Penelope need the money to pay off their debts. Luke is a bar owner who has been through a lot during his life especially during his teen and early 20s. Penelope comes from a well to do family but she was cut off from them and the money since she wasn't willing to go to the college and major in what her father wanted her to do. So she ends up going to the college of her choice and continues pursuing higher education since she didn't want to face the real world. But now that she is graduating with a PhD, she realizes that she must be a grown up and find a way to pay off her student loans.
When Luke and Penelope are "matched" together to be partners during the show, Penelope isn't sure they are a good fit since they are total opposites. Luke convinces Penelope to give it a shot since they both are there for the money. The show, as all the contestants come to find out, is similar to "The Amazing Race" but with some interesting twist. As you can imagine, Luke and Penelope are struggling with each other and the tasks that they have to do. Fights, facing fears, and hilarity ensues reading about this couple and the other contestants going through all the different challenges.
In the end, Luke and Penelope must decide if opposites do attract and if the feelings for each other is not a result of the closeness but are true feelings that they have for each other. Each must overcome their own insecurities about themselves, especially when the show really plays on them, and face their true feelings for each other.
This was a fun read with the reality show and the twist to it and the final outcome. I rooted for Luke and Penelope and wanted to cheer when another contestant couple were the "leaders" during most of the tasks because they were just no likable at all. It was fun to see who won the show and then having to wait because there was a twist to the whole show!
Uuuh, such a smexy, adorable, fun read! And it’s about traveling! Talk about a perfect story for this bookworm! That and the adventurousness plus Luke really was what made the story for me – even if it was a little predictable.
I hate reality TV – let’s face it: it’s scripted, after all – but I loved how it played into their story. And all their pitstops along the way … let’s just say – my feet itch to be on the road yet again. Le sigh.
So … Luke. Such a wonderful and sexy man. He’s gorgeous. Plain and simple. Nell on the other hand … boy, that girl frustrated me to no end at times! As smart as she is, she really has some major issues. That changed a bit towards the end – though I am still not much of a fan of hers.
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I did the first book in this series – both standalones which can be ready separately by the way – and am looking forward to more.
This way such a fun journey through America – with hilarious moments, sexy moments, annoying moments, fighting moments and emotional moments – a great light read to brighten your day.
The writing in this book is crazy good, smooth, witty, fun and romantic. I love Luke, so determined and so willing to push Nell out of her comfort zone, which is so much needed. Nell is a favorite too because she decided to take on life in the public but is such an introvert. This is a very good storyline.
Another adorable and spicy read by Katy Evans!
Million Dollar Marriage follows Nell, a mid-twenty something bookworm as she tries out for a gameshow to reduce her school debt, and Luke Cross, the sexy and playful bar owner trying to save his families bar. These two had sparks flying, and not in a good way at first, but when they are forced to work together to win money, who knows what these opposites will find. I loved the banter, enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and Ms. Evans knows how to write them! The chemistry is fun, the characters likeable, and I was smiling throughout the book. Don't miss this standalone!
The teaser for “Million Dollar Marriage” says “a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love.” If you’re thinking of the reality show “Amazing Race” with a touch of “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette” then you are correct.
With her fingers on the pulse of Americans’ (or is it the whole world?) fascination with reality shows like Survivor and Amazing Race, author Katy Evans imagined “Million Dollar Marriage,” a reality show wherein the contestants have to be married to “race” for the grand prize of $1 million.
It seemed simple enough; but it was not! The contestants were strangers and they were paired by a so so algorithm. The clincher, these total strangers have to get married at the beginning of the show and win the million dollars if they remained married till the end.
Whew! That’s a lot to take in. But, have no fear. Katy Evans can tell a good yarn and she totally nailed this one. It was a romantic comedy with a bit of drama. Front runners Nell Carpenter and Luke Cross were so wrong for each other that you actually question how the author could bring them to a happily ever after.
Just remember, we are in the era where reality stars become celebrities. Nielsen ratings and social media could do that. And in this imaginary world of “Million Dollar Marriage,” Katy Evans used that arsenal to make Nell and Luke three-dimensional.
In short, if “Million Dollar Marriage” was a true reality show, the Brainiac (Penelope “Nell” Carpenter, with a PhD to her name) and the High School Dropout (Luke Cross, bar owner and bartender) could be an audience’s favorite.
I will not describe the challenges that Nell, Luke and the other contestants went through because it would be a spoiler. Let me just say that Katy Evans have a wicked imagination, that is, she’s wicked enough to actually dream things up for Survivor if given a chance.
That said, the romance between Nell and Luke was also steamy enough to get you hot and bothered! Is Luke Cross swoon-worthy? If you’re into reformed bad boys, then, yes, he is!
A fun read that will actually crack you up in more ways than one. The interactions between the hero and heroine plus the supporting characters feel so real, they actually be people you know!
“Million Dollar Marriage” is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance is strongly advised due to the challenges in the in-book game and some sex scenes.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved this book!!!! Nell and Luke are a great couple and i couldn’t put this book down because I had to see what adventure they would take on next. Katy Evans brings a storyline that keeps you guessing and has you feeling as if you are right their with the characters waiting to see what will happen next and what they will decide. Luke and Nell are total opposites, but that is what makes them work well together. Each page I was rooting for them to make it and even if they didn’t win for them to figure out that they had already won with one another.
Nell needs money to pay off her student loans but so far can’t find a job. But when her friend tells her about the show Million Dollar Marriage, she tags along for the casting interviews to see what it is all about. Little does she know she is about to push herself to her limits and with someone she least expects.
Luke needs money to keep his bar open and Million Dollar Marriage is just what he needs to make that happen. But when he is partnered with Nell he knows it won’t be an easy road to winning. She is nothing like him and pushes all his button just as he pushes her’s. But as they work with one another he finds that maybe she isn’t that bad.
As Luke and Nell face challenge after challenge, they have to come to terms with their feelings for one another. And when the game ends and they have to decide to stay together or walk away, what will they chose?
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book .

What An Adorable story !!!
Nell and Luke story was hot , sweet , entertaining , full of emotions and amazing adventures . Even though the storylines ( marriage of convenience and opposite personalities ) aren't new concepts in the romance genre , But Evans has a special writing style that makes you read the book in one sitting without leaving it for a second ( Actually that What happened to me LOL) .
Nell is one of the sweetest heroines I've got the chance to read about . She is introvert , proper , innocent , shy and lovely . I loved her character's development , how she tried to challenge her comfort zones and try new things trusting her heart and feelings . She is smart and sexy at the same time , A lethal combination ;) .
Luke , awww, he is really your ideal Book Boyfriend , he is hot , brave , protective , possessive and great . Yeah , there are some scenes where I didn't like him , but all in all , The story Between Luke and Nell was really beautiful , I loved how they developed feelings , supported and protected each other .
Katy Evans has - as I already mentioned - a special writing style . I've read two books for her before this one and I totally love her characters , Plots and love stories . She has a great way in expressing the characters feelings , Love , hate , regret , angst .....etc . You will definitely love her stories .
If you like the stories about people with opposite personalities who you would think won't have any chemistry but you start reading and realize they are fireworks with each other , then this story is the one for you .
P.S: I haven't read the first book in the series and still enjoyed this story a lot , you won't find any confusion .

Book Boyfriend: 💋💋💋💋💋
Luke is your classic bad boy – tattoos, muscles, and owns a bar. He also has a had a rough past – kicked out of his house, struggled with addiction, dropped out of high school and lived on the streets all before he was 18. Luke is trying to honor his grandpa, who took him in and got him clean, by running the family bar. He is trying so hard to do all he can but it is never quite enough. Luke has charm for days and is a bona fide ladies’ man but no desire for a relationship. He also has a soft side. He looks out and protects his friends and family and those that are weaker. Luke has the perfect gentleman potty mouth. Haha. I am going to have to add him to my long list of book boyfriends.
Strong Female Lead: 💋💋💋💋.5
Nell is an introvert that doesn’t do well in social situations or making friends. Her family prides themselves on education so it was always her goal to get as much education as possible. Nell finishes her doctorate degree and is scared to face the “real world”. Even though her parents have money, they do not support her because she didn’t do what they wanted. Nell is beautiful but hides behind large glasses, a quirky personality and baggy clothes. The only good thing she sees in herself is her brain. Throughout the story you see Nell grow as a person and start to feel comfortable being herself. She learns to love herself and isn’t afraid of the world anymore. Nell still experiences moments of insecurity and self-doubt but that made her even more relatable. She also says the funniest things and reacts in the most bizarre ways… think awkward introvert with no social skills.
Plot: 💋💋💋💋.5
Think Amazing Race meets Bachelor in Paradise. I have been on an Amazing Race binge this summer so I absolutely loved that part of the book. It was a cool twist on something we all are familiar with so you connect but also it is different enough to keep you interested. The teams are paired up by all the things they don’t have in common… and they say opposites attract. Hmmm… The characters have their ups and downs and I enjoyed their journey.
Steamy Factor: 💋💋💋.5
The steam is always hot in a Katy Evans’ book and this was no different. There were some “fan your face and squeeze your legs together” scenes but they didn’t overpower the story.
Overall: 💋💋💋💋.5
I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy The Amazing Race, Survivor, Bachelor in Paradise, etc. type shows. As I was reading, I could see this being played out on a television show and enjoyed it. I loved how Nell grew as a person and stepped out of her comfort zone! I couldn’t put the book down because I wasn’t exactly sure how it would end -definitely a twist here and there.
5 Stars!
Katy Evans is back and oh my freaking goodness y'all! One of her best books yet right here and definitely a top read for me!
Katy never fails to impress me, schmooze me, make me fall hard and fast, and win me over when she writes a slow burn romance. I mean I've been a huge, huge fan since I first discovered Remy long ago and well she's done it again with this new book and left me with such a hangover.
So original. So unique. So entertaining. So refreshing. Million Dollar Marriage ticked off all the boxes that I love my romances to have and gave me one unputdownable, unforgettable journey with unstoppable characters and a story that I never wanted to end once I started it.
Run don't walk to grab this fun, sexy, sweet all-new romance today!
I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Reality TV in a book. I really enjoyed this follow up of Lucas's character! I have to admit that the h annoyed me big time and some points she really was TSTL. While Lucas...yum and oh so sweet.
This book totally surprised me. The Amazing Race is one of my favorite shows and this book incorporated enough of that shows premise to make the reality competition feel real. I also loved Nell and Luke. They were both genuinely good people. They may not have liked some of their competitors, but they never played dirty. It was insta love, but believable insta love because of their circumstances. Very well done!
I absolutely loved Penny & Luke . If you love the opposites attract genre than get ready for a wild ride . Would you marry a stranger for money ….. a million dollars? Well Penny never thought she would find herself hitched let alone to a crude, blunt, brawny oh yes hot man but she is . Penny needs money to pay off her student loans and Luke wants to save his bar. When these two unlike characters are thrown together on a reality show get ready for a wild ride. They are funny, snarky complete opposites but soon find out that they can really work well together under pressure but what happens when you start to get the feelings !!! This was a fun, fast paced wild romance !!!
