Grant was horribly injured on the job when he was a detective. Since he can't return to his job, he has to figure out what to do with his life. Tired of the looks of pity due to his burns, he tends to stay to himself but when he hears a woman in danger he has to help her. His neighbor, Belle, is excited to begin living on her own for the first time instead of being surrounded by her loving but smothering big Greek family. When someone tries to kill her Grant has to figure out why and is determined to keep her safe. Lots of suspense and romance made this a fast and exciting read.

I truly love Katie Reus and have read many, if not most, of her books. Her books are always compelling and I can never put them down. For some reason I had not read this one, despite it being an older book in the Red Stone Security series.

I loved the scarred and damaged (literally) hero, Grant, and sweet Belle, his new neighbor, is just what he needs to heal. The plot kept the pages turning and the characters are well developed despite the brevity of this book. Katie is able to make great connections between her love interests and Belle and Grant are no exception.

I need to go back and fill in the gaps with any of the books I have missed from this series. Katie Reus never disappoints!

When Belle moves into her first house she is excited about being on her own. She doesn't know however what's about to occur and flip her world upside down. After meeting her neighbor for the first time during an argument with a childhood friend she is convinced he is going to think she is the worst neighbor possible. When he invites her over for lunch they are both surprised.

When Grant hears his new neighbor in an argument he has no idea that going to her aid is going to lead to an invite for lunch. After all, he doesn't want to see or talk to anyone. His self pity over his burns are keeping him like a hermit in his house. He doesn't care to change it today. But it sounds like he just invited his new gorgeous neighbor to lunch, at his house. Did he really just do that?

Read what develops between the neighbor when her life is in danger and he steps in to save her.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Danger Next Door is the second book in Katie Reus’ Red Stone Security Series. This is a suspenseful romance novel that has no cheating and a happily ever after.

Grant Caldwell is a police detective on leave while recuperating from the injuries and severe burns he received from an explosion. He finds himself struggling to come to grips with the physical changes to his body. Belle Manikas, is a beautiful neonatal nurse, who has moved in next door. Grant is drawn to her instantly, and when circumstances lead him to “rescue” Belle from a hands family friend, their connection begins to grow. Soon, danger surrounds Belle, and Grant will use everything in his power, including his resources at Red Stone Security, to protect her. But when there’s a madman involved, will it be enough? Read it and find out!

This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series is achieved. Reus does an excellent job weaving old and introducing new characters into the Red Stone Security series. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

A sweet, passionate romance mixed with danger, mystery, and suspense. I loved Grant and Belle’s story – the strength and vulnerability of both characters.

My favorite in the series so far.

This was an ok quick read...never really felt as if the characters were fully fledged out, it was hard to really care about them. The book, I felt concentrated on the sex scenes instead of the emotion between them. As I said an okay quick read

Took another trip to Katie Reus’ Red Stone Security series with Grant and Belle and it was another hit for me. I loved Grant’s over protectiveness and all around alpha traits and I loved Belle’s loyalty and big heart. I loved their instant chemistry and their easy friendship that turns into off the charts heat and their perfect blend of falling in love romance. Another awesome romance from this author!

Whenever I need a sexy action packed read free of OTT drama and angst or when I just want to sink into a cute romance, KR is my go to author. Her stories are well thought out, her characters are always well developed and the insta-love is always spot on. She can’t go wrong with her alpha Heroes and her kick ass heroines.

Memorable Moment: I was just as hurt as Belle when Grant’s friend tries to ask her out on a date because Grant had said they were “just friends”. Her confrontation with Grant stuck with me because I loved that Grant owned up to his mistake and then doesn’t waste time confessing his own feelings for her. It was a really cute moment and I was reminded why I love this author’s writing style. She always delivers a cute and entertaining romance and she doesn’t have to use cliché drama to get from point A to point B.

Would I recommend? I really liked this couple and can see myself coming back to re-read. Would definitely recommend this one and any book by K.R. Their short, sweet and steamy!

Grant and Belle have amazing chemistry, will that be enough to open Grant's eyes or will his stubborn pride keep them apart? Belle finds herself being attacked and stalked by some unforeseen person. Who is it, and why are they after her? Will Grant be able to find her before it is too late? Thank you NetGalley.

Grant Caldwell is trying to hide from is well-meaning family while he heals until he finds himself drawn to his beautiful new neighbor with problems of her own. He can’t stay away even though he knows he’d never have a chance with a woman like her – not with his disfigurement. Belle grew sheltered and smothered and now that she’s finally out on her own she plans to wring everything she can out of her life. She sets her sights on Grant and nothing can stop her from getting him into her bed – until a madman fixates on her and Grant sees it as his duty to protect her at all costs.

This romantic suspense is an emotionally gripping and highly suspenseful read that holds readers in its grip until the very end. Grant and Belle are two strong characters that both have pasts that they have to overcome, pasts that have reacting in different ways and readers can practically feel all of the emotions that flow from the pages of this engaging romance. The romance is sweet and quite delightful as Belle teaches Grant that she’s very willing to be his.

The plot is faced paced and full thrilling excitement and suspense as a violent criminal stalks Belle with no intentions of stopping until he has destroyed her. An OMG twist has readers jaws dropping as the climax reels the readers in and has them holding their breath in suspense and the conclusion to the romance between Belle and Grant is a sigh worthy event for romance readers.

I really enjoy Ms. Reus's style of romantic suspenseful adventure. The characters are fully fleshed out and appealing to her readers. In this instance Grant Caldwell is severely injured on his last case. Frustrated at his slow recovery, extreme scarring and temporary leave of absence from the police force where he's a detective when his new neighbor snaps him out of his self pity.
Having been smothered by a loving family the last thing Belle needs or wants is an over protective neighbor but as a series of incidents prove she needs help and protection. Who's gunning for her and why?
As the story moves quickly both on the romantic, sexual and whodunnit side readers are quickly engrossed in the outcomes. At the risk of spoilers the only jarring note was the killers fixation on Grant since Grant had only been detective on a few of the murders.
I'd read a story by Ms. Reus any time.

This was a short but captivating read that kept me glued to my reader from the first page on. I just wanted to sneak a peek...and suddenly I was at about 67% of the book. Well, needless to say, that I had to read the rest of the book right then and there as well, right?

I really liked the way Grant and Belle accept each other especially the way Belle never thought of Grant as someone who was wounded or, worse, disfigured but as someone strong, protective and absolutely attractive. The way they very quickly came to care for each other was touching and despite the fact that they didn't really know each other, their feelings made sense and felt authentic.

The only thing that I didn't like about the book - it was too short. Even though it was well done, well - written and there was nothing left to tell, no cliffhangers, the characters are well developed but still - I would have loved to learn more about them and their story just because I loved those two and their story. I guess that I'll just have to read the next books in the series to find out more about them. I've read some already of them but not all of them, so this is a nice excuse.

A book first published in 2012 I received this from NetGalley. Detective Grant Caldwell has left his job from the police department after an explosion left him injured and scared. He has noticed the very attractive neighbor next door to him but has not introduced himself or shown himself because of his scares. This all changes one night when he hears yelling from her back yard and she telling someone to leave her alone. Now Bella Manikas comes from a large Greek family but she does not want anything to with the one guy her mother and her mother’s friend want her to be with. He just cannot understand why. After Grant runs him off she notices Grant up close after seeing him from afar and he looks but than she thought. Being a nurse she is not bothered by his scares. What she is bothered by is a person that is following her, trying to get into her home and other things. When she is finally kidnapped it is up to Grant and the security company to find her before it is too late. A good story with plenty of action. I liked the characters also.

Belle finally moves out on her own and is quickly beset with danger. Her neighbor, Grant, was injured and permanently scarred from his work on the police department. He sees someone breaking into Belle’s home and tries to keep her safe. As Belle and Grant’s attraction grows so does her safety issues. Grant enlists the help of a security firm, Red Stone Security. He joins his family, who make up the firm, who combine their efforts. This romance has intrigue and mystery which makes it an enjoyable page turner.

The Story in 4 Sentences or Less: Grant Caldwell was left scarred and became a recluse after an explosion ended his run as a detective until he meets his new neighbor Belle Manikas. Belle is trying to make a life of her own, away from her overbearing but loving family and she has her sights set on Grant. But when someone keeps trying to kill her, Belle has no choice but to depend on Grant to figure out who wants her dead and why.

Like It? Hate it? Love it? Why? Danger Next Door is a modern take on the Beauty and the Beast trope and what a lovely take it is. Grant isn’t a surly hero but he’s in a self imposed isolation because he’s insecure about his scars. I loved that this big ‘ole tough guy had that insecurity about him, it made him more than just this untouchable hero. He had a surprising sense of humor and an ingrained sense of duty that overrode his concerns about his scars.

And Belle was a lovely heroine. She’s a nurturing, caring sort but not sugary sweet. I loved her sass and I definitely admired her for having the guts to leave her family’s loving but suffocating home and move out on her own. When she’s attacked and it is clear she needs help, Belle didn’t pretend that she was able to handle things on her own, she definitely knew when she was in over her head.

Danger Next Door moves at a pretty quick pace, and it’s not a very long story. That would normally spell disaster for me as a reader but Katie Reus has a knack for keeping things interesting and as realistic as possible in a short amount of time.

I have read a few books by this author and she never disappoints me

I thought that this book was action packed right from the start and there was no messing about, you were thrown straight in to the story - and I loved that!

I enjoyed this book very much and I found it to be a very easy and quick read.

The characters were 'full on', very well developed and they worked very well together too

Five stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!!

This is my favorite by Katie so far. I loved this couple and thier story. Swoon worthy romance coupled with a healthy dose of suspense that ramps the tension up until the conclusion.

This was a quick, easy read. I have read Katie Reus before but not this series. It was more like a novella than a full length novel. It doesn’t delve deep into the characters or their backgrounds. Despite that, it is an engaging read and the writing was good. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley but all opinions provided are my own.

I just discovered Katie Reus this year, and what I love about her books is that they’re pulse-pounding, with a keen sense of drama and two main characters who can’t keep their hands off each other. Danger Next Door is no exception to this, and I really enjoyed reading this book in an older but new-to-me series.

Grant Caldwell is six months out from an explosion that left him severely scarred. Since then, he’s been a bit of a shut-in, at least until he meets the girl next door, Belle Manikas. Before he knows it, he’s swept into the mystery of who keeps trying to attack her and why, anddddd lost in her and the new relationship they’ve started.

Grant and Belle are combustible together. There’s an immediate attraction, and Reus portrays it well. I couldn’t wait to see what happened between them, and how it would bring both of them into the light.

But there were a couple of things that I liked less, including the questionable lengths that Grant went to to protect Belle, especially at the end of the book. His efforts to do so did end up saving her life, but there have to be boundaries, right? I felt like he could have been more honest about his efforts. And the identity of the attacker was a bit of a let-down for me.

Still, Danger Next Door was a searing, thoroughly enjoyable read.
