This is not usually my kind of genre, but I do love graphic novels and the art seemed amazing. I also saw a bunch of raving reviews that had me curious about this graphic novel anthology. So I figured I might as well give it a shot. And okay, this was maybe not entirely for me. But it was great to see how sex-positive this was, with multiple LGBTQ+ characters, characters with different body types, and explicit discussions on consent.

CWs: visually and textually explicit sex scenes

Rep: multiple LGBTQ+ characters, multiple Black characters, genderfluid character.

Very fun, very queer and very sexy. There were several little short stories of superheroes and villains and their partners. It was so sex positive, both in sexual identity, plus size rep and consent. Very fun and quick read, but I wished there was more. Some of the stories ended right when it was getting good!

Thanks to @onipress via @netgalley for the advance copy of Super Fun Sexy Times by Meredith McClaren, out on 20th August. I'm feeling a bit delicate today after a night out dancing and this graphic novel collection of cute, funny and very NSFW sci-fi stories was the perfect accompaniment to tea and a bacon buttie in aiding my recovery.

Each of the five stories is a sexy encounter between super heroes, villains, aliens and vigilantes, with mostly LGBT characters plus some less easy to categorise extraterrestrials. There's lots of focus on negotiation and consent, it felt really body positive, and had some nice trans rep. There's all sorts of kink including pet play, bondage, D/s, and a very sweet and funny attempt at negotiating an intruder fantasy, plus lots of superpowered sex!

I loved the art and the storytelling in this collection, and enjoyed how it showed kink in loving domestic settings, even when its the lair of two super villains! I really hope there'll be a Super Fun Sexy Times volume 2.

Reading this book was indeed a super sexy fun time. Who knew erotic and funny graphic short stories were a thing.

I first gave it 3 stars, but then the little book lingered in my mind. I kept thinking that the way it treated sex in a positive, consensual and diverse way was unheard of.

In fact, I was thinking that I would rather have my teenage nieces read this book, even with explicit sex, than many YA novels I see around, many entitled to cinematic adaptations that romanticize abusive relationships.

This book was so fun! Not only that, the diversity of race, gender, and sexual orientation was great. Every story felt so loved and cared for, especially with each character receiving a description about who they are at the end of their story. Every relationship felt cherished, even if the characters weren't actually together, you could feel their connection. I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I can't wait to read more.

I thought this was pretty cute! It's a little anthology of superheroes and villains and their romantic/sexy lives. I didn't love the art style, but there was nothing wrong with it either. It just wasn't my personal taste. I also wish each of the shorts was a little longer. They each could have done with a few more pages to develop the story a bit. I absolutely loved the diversity in this book as well. I think the author did a great job with giving each couple a unique backstory and normalizing different kinds of couples.

If your looking for a really smutty and queer graphic novel then your in the right place. The art style wasn’t exactly to my liking but smut really makes up for it

Wow, I've never read anything like this before and it was great! If you're looking for super inclusive, body-positive, erotic short stories/comics, then this is the one for you. I enjoyed all the stories of these superheroes/ supervillains and thought the positive sex and body messages in each were great. The romances between the characters was sweet and the depictions of their relationship (sexual and otherwise) was realistic. I only wished that each comic was a little longer so that we could get to know the characters more--because I definitely wanted to know more about them! I thought the exploration of sexuality in this was really well done. The comics are graphic sexually, it's basically drawn erotica, so I wouldn't recommend reading this in public (definitely NSFW)!

I wasn't sure that I liked the art work/graphic style of the comics at first, but the more I read the more I liked it. I would definitely read Vol 2 of Super Fun Sexy Times if the author came out with more! This was one fun, sexy read that might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm glad that I stumbled upon it.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for making this available to read and review!

This book was a lot of fun smutty content. With a variety of relationships represented, it was one for a lot of different audiences. I would take full stories on some of these stories for sure! It was a good time for me.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL. Obviously, caps-lock was needed. Super Fun Sexy Times by Meredith McClaren is not your typical graphic novel, nor is it something that is going to be for everyone. It's graphic, and I do mean graphic so that that into consideration. The artwork beautiful, but the content takes the cake on how amazing this book is. This book is full of consent, sweet, fun, and sexy consent. I loved that we saw characters negotiating role play scenes & realistically talking about sex. I also truly appreciated how inclusive this book was. You have people of all shapes, sizes, sexual orientation, etc. which made me want to cry with how beautiful it was.

This is definitely a book I would recommend to the right reader. It is well worth the read & a book that I'm going to have to buy a hard copy of.

3.5 stars rounded down

Honestly, I'm not the best judge for I guess I will call this a graphic shorty. The book consists of 5 short stories told in comic or graphic (is my terminology wrong, idk) form. Oh, and this is totally in the erotic category. I was immediately curious about the book when I read the blurb and decided- eh, why not?

The short stories are extremely inclusive in the LGBT persuasion and cover a variety of ethnicity, body type, and the kink spectrum as well as covering a heavy dose of what consent should look like. I will say the conversations felt a bit stilted to me and I didn't quite get the humor factor of a lot of it. I'm not a comic person so this could just be me.

The premise of the shorts are super peoples (heros, villians, and their plethora of assistants) in their off time. The stories were well done for the little shorts. Again, I had a bit of difficulty with the conversations and humor. The dialogue felt a bit off or stilted. The graphics were drawn in such a way that I felt they were (to my eyes) a bit detracting (in the scheme of what I imagine as super fun and sexy) but still well done. I enjoyed that the book completely embraces inclusion and communication between partners.

This was a very lovely erotic graphic novel. The premise of seeing what superheroes are like AFTERHOURS was quite charming and it was a fun, sexy read. I will definitely be looking forward to future volumes.

This was such an interesting graphic novel.
I mainly requested it for it's premise.
The scenarios were all really cute and had SUCH great representation.

4 Stars for this graphic novel of five unique, sexy, NSFW short stories. I can’t say I’ve read a lot of erotic comic books, so I’m assuming that this is unlike typical graphic novels in this genre. This book is about their relationships as much as it is about the sex. Nevertheless, Super Fun Sexy Times does live up to its name.

Three things stood out to me. First is I loved the art of the writer/artist, Meredith McClaren. Most typical superhero comic book art consist of colors that are bright and outlined in black ink, McClaren’s style is not typical. While her colors are bold with minimal shading, her colors are not in the primary spectrum. Second is that the characters are not all heterosexual musclemen or busty women. They come in all sizes, shapes, colors and combinations. There are a number of couple combinations - M/M, M/F, F/F and M/Alien. Diversity and inclusion is the theme here. And the third thing which really stood out to me is that there is consent before and more discussion before and/or after sex than I ever expected.

Sidenote – I liked the choice the author made of adding the bios of each character after their stories. Because the fun facts she adds that are not mentioned in the story would've been distracting.

I'm looking forward for Vol. 2.

Ok, I knew this was a graphic novel about Sexy Times, but I was not prepared for how soon we see just how graphic it was. Totally not a bad thing, but there was a bit of a shock factor there lol This is a very sex positive, diverse, graphic novel! Illustrations were very well done.

Just a couple disclaimers, this definitely is NSFW lol and obviously contains mature content.

This was actually super cute! I loved the relationships in it and the way consent was a prominent theme.

There was great representation of different sexualities, body types and kinks!

This is pretty graphic (lots of dicks and vaginas about haha) but it was also really tasteful and everything was done in a very loving and respectful way!

I loved the little fact boxes about the characters at the end of each short story and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for Vol 2!

I found this comic to be alright. While I did appreciate the open discussions and the conversations, the diversity, and proper inclusion of LGBTQ+ relationships. I just felt like it was a bit lacking and not entirely erotic. The artwork was still nice and it was a really quick read. I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

This was so good! Superheroes and kinky sex?! YES! I do wish that it was longer. I absolutely adored this.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this electronic review copy.

Honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of this one though it was mostly me. The dialogue was decent and the illustrations were consistent if not always clear what was going on.

Okay, first off, the art is adorable and brightly colored and cartoonish and EXTREMELY EXPLICIT, HOO BOY, NOT FOR KIDS. The stories all revolve around sex and there are lots of up-close views of various people's genitalia, but it's actually a super wholesome collection of shorts that all feature explicit consent and relationship negotiation and affection in addition to orgasms. The characters range widely in skin tone and body size (including a spider-lady who looks like a toned-down version of The Stalk from Saga, in case anybody has a phobia and wants to avoid that) and include a grab-bag of LGBTQ+ identities. Several of the stories feature kink HEAVILY (kitten-play, lingerie/feminization, a pre-negotiated rape fantasy, and some BDSM), just so you're aware. But if none of those things are dealbreakers, I do recommend this as queer-friendly and age-, size- and race-diverse erotica!
