Super fun, quick, smutty stories starring a diverse and inclusive cast of superheroes and villains and filled with lots of sex and body positive messages. I only wish the stories would’ve been a bit longer.
And this is REALLY explicit, so NSFW.
Oh wow this was AMAZING!!!! I loved every single page, every second I spent reading this!!!
Super Fun Sexy Times is about the, well, super fun sexy times that superheroes, villains, sidekicks and the people involved with them have!
This is one of the few books that has an actually fitting and very well done blurb that summarizes it perfectly, and this is one of the rare occasion where I actively encourage reading the blurb!!!
I adored every single of the five stories - each of them individually is great and a perfect 5 star read, and together they are diverse, not just in their characters but also in the different facets of a society where superheroes are a thing.
It's hard to say which story was my favourite, but I'd probably go with "Worst Case Scenario", the very first one, because it made me fall in love with the comic overall from the very first page.
The artstyle was SUPERB. I liked it from the very first page: it's simple yet expressive and just so much fun to look at, with lovely details and and inherent vibrancy, even if the colours are muted.
If there is one thing I had to criticise it would be the cover and title. The title works when you know what the book is about, but if you don't....
I also think the cover completely fails to convey the beauty of the pages within. The characters' faces were one of my favourite things about the art style, so to me it feels like a missed opportunity to not show a face on the cover, too.
Neither the cover nor title did in any way take away from my enjoyement of the comic, though!
I really can't recommend Super Fun Sexy Times enough, it was a delight to read and I'm sure there is something in there for everyone! Be it from the aesthetics of a character, to kinks and sexual preferences, characters who have figured out their gender and characters who haven't quite yet, and so much more!
Great artwork, overall quite a strange concept but it was very diverse and sexy which I liked! I loved the little character profiles at the end of each chapter.
This definitely was super, fun, and Sexy! It's absolutely lovely to see such a sex-positive graphic novel be so sweet, fun and diverse.
I really applaud Meredith McClaren for creating such a inclusive piece of work.
Oh this was so cute and sweet and lovely!
This is a very inclusive and diverse comic about superheroes and villains and their romantic lives, which is so very different from anything I've read before. I loved the artwork -- but fair warnings, it's graphic so definitely NFSW. And I really enjoyed how each character was queer, and so many ivtersectionalities involving race, gender, and body size.
This was a super fun and quick comic that I recommend. Also hoping that there's a volume 2 in the works!
Well it said it was sexy times between super heroes and it definitely delivered. Definitely a NSFW read. I loved how most of the characters were queer and that consent was a big theme.
This is a super smutty, sex positive graphic novel that gets down and dirty with the utmost respect between partners.
I loved this comic book so much. It's a super fast read and full of funny content, although very graphic and not recommended to the younger public.
It was so nice to see all these crazy bad asses super heroes in their leisure time and just having fun the way they wanted, even if it involved lots of kinky stuff hahaha. It's such an inclusive story, in here you'll see such a variety of genders and different sexual encounters, which is awesome and a nice change for a comic book story.
Again, I loved this comic book and wish to see more of this subject in the genre. Super recommend it!!
This was okay. The art style wasn’t my favorite at all, it was very stringy to me. If that’s the right word, I wish some of the stories were long and 2 of them I didn’t care for. I enjoyed the first one and the lesbian one. Over all for me I would said a 2 star, not horrible. Something fast and sexy to read but other than that nothing much else. I’m also fairly new to erotica so maybe that’s why.
Overall, A really fun time. I just wish we would have gotten a little more back story to each couple. I also think it would have made more sense to put the short bios before each story, rather than after.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this comic!
Rating: 4 stars
Rep: LGBTQ+, POC and plus size rep
Well, I was not expecting to love this as I did! What a fantastic, inclusive, beautiful comic. I will admit, I immediately downloaded this after I saw the cover (superheroes & supervillains?!) and I didn't realise it was actually classed as "erotica" but honestly, that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Consent, kinks, relationship dynamics and sex positivity are the themes of all the short stories in this collection. I loved it! I thought all the talks "pre-sex" were such an amazing thing, which is differently lacking in books and comics alike.
The art style was unique and beautiful. A lot of other reviews mentioned that they thought the stories were too short, and while I would've liked more, I still thought the pacing was really great and I liked the little character descriptions at the end of each story.
I know this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and I can definitely see why, but I really loved this one and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to people who like diverse characters, sex-positivity, superheroes and intriguing storylines.
I honestly didn't know what I was getting into when I picked up this earc, but I'm glad I was able to experience these sweet and steamy stories.
Consisting of a super diverse cast of superhero characters, Super Fun Sexy Times Vol 1, illustrates 5 individual snippets of couples exploring various sexual fantasies. This collection of stories features everything from m/m and w/w romances to nonbinary romance roles and kitten play kinks with people of various races, species (aliens), sizes, and ages.
I love that these stories were not only incredibly inclusive, but also covered so many healthy relationships convos in such few pages (i.e. using condoms for safe sex, discussing limits/fantasies/health/history with your partner, etc). All the partners were incredibly supportive and loving, and it highlights that we'd all probably have a lot more fun during sexy time if we were open and honest about what we wanted/needed.
My only real complaints are that I wish the character cards (read: explanation of who was featured in the story) were at the START of each story rather than the end, and that these stories were given more time to grow and develop. If they were a little bit longer I feel like they could have been more fleshed out and not felt so instasex. But, hey, it's in the name so I guess I should understand what I signed up for.
Whether this is in your comfort zone or not, I think healthy conversations could stem from reading this collection.
This was a lovely exploration of the sex and relationships in five short stories.
I loved every story and the interactions of these fully fledged out characters. They all felt distinct from one another without feeling disjointed. The topics were handled with nuance without turning preachy and you can find something for every taste.
Each story ends with a short bio of the characters which I absolutely adored. You can tell that you only get to see a small glimpse into their lives and that feels very organic. I was smiling through pretty much all of them.
The art drew me first to this comic. I love the soft colours and the non-outlines of the characters. It does make it hard to pick up what's happening it times since the colour schemes are very minimalistic; some more contrast would have helped. Some panels also felt out of place and it was hard to figure out where the characters were moving at times. And sometimes, the speech bubbles changed colours which I personally founded confusing, especially if it wasn't indicating someone new talking or to distinguish a phone conversation etc.
But these are all small issues which did not hinder my enjoyment.
I truly hope we will get more volumes with a higher page count and get more relationships or more of these ones. I just want more.
I received an advanced reading copy on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL! I have never experienced this genre in graphic novel form before, and it definitely adds to the appeal. I loved each short story, and the variety of them. The topic of each piece was so brought spectrum, very "out there" feeling, which is kind of nice to see? Most erotica is very black and white. I enjoyed that the majority of the stories featured were based on people already in relationships, and it was more of a sexual exploration within that relationship. The topics that were focused on were very well thought through, most being very sensitive matters. I appreciated the amount of consent that was given and focused on in each story as well, that's a really great piece to add into erotica. Some of the speech bubbles got a little muddled for me, so the colour changing speech bubble idea that was in a few of the stories would work out great as a constant, in my eyes, but this didn't take away from the story lines for me. All in all, such a fun read! 5/5* for me! I definitely look forward to more volumes!
I was intrigued by this title and the description but was ultimately let down by the content and the art.
Love the Art Style and the naughtiness but super short just like this review will be! :) But of course its got to have 100 characters long. hmmm I love superheroes so this was really good! I love the first and last story and the one with the f/f romance with the silly cat! LOL!
Magnificently inclusive, LGBTQIA-orientated, and sex positive. At times it felt a little too contrived but I was very invested in every short.
was looking for some erotica on netgalley and found graphic novel. Curious what that would be like, I downloaded it.
I liked the stories; they were cute. I would have thought the graphicness of the artwork might bother me a little, but it didn't. Not even in the bondage story (which I usually don't like).
In all, I think I'm more of a words person than a pictures person.
This graphic novel was surprisingly... graphic.
Not that it’s a bad thing! But the first anatomy I saw kind of took me aback. I loved it though!
This was a graphic novel of 5 short stories. There was SO MUCH lgbt rep. I loved it. It explores all kinds of sex positive things. Consent, safe words, trying and failing new endeavors. It was SO GOOD. I can’t recommend this enough. But beware, it is nsfw and has nudity.
This was very very weird to me some of the characters looked crazy I didn’t know it was that graphic that fist story between the m/m characters was like woah okay just get to it in the first scene... I don’t really read books like this but for people who like erotica then it is for you
