A short and enjoyable sexy comic book with a handful of stories and couples. Featuring M/M, F/F and F/M, we get a variety of drawings showing fun playtimes between the couples, as well as a little info on them at the end of each story. I’m looking forward to the next book from this author
This was incredibly unique. I loved the diversity in it. I think that if you are interested in this type of work, you should definitely read it. This was the first erotic graphic novel I've read and I was pleasantly surprised. The art work wasn't my favorite, but it didn't put me off too much.
Man oh man I don't think I was ready for that! lol
I did know it was going to be sexual but I didn't realize just how detailed and in-depth it was going to get - with graphic pictures and what not. It didn't bother me, just surprised!
I will say I wasn't totally in love with the artwork. I didn't hate it but I definitely did not love it. The stories were cute though and it's kind of a fun look behind the scenes as to what superheroes do.
A queer positive explicit take on the sexual lives of superheroes! The characters are very different and diverse. Fun and enjoyable :)
Pretty much does what it says on the tin. I liked when they just expressed little hearts. I liked the art. They all looked like fun cats (hilarious how later this was a kink for one of the characters). Super Fun Sexy Times deals with issues of consent, gender expression, sexy times going not so sexy (I can relate) and interspecies (intergalactic?) sex.
I enjoyed it, but thought the characters could be more than what drives them sexually and a blub about them as superheros/villians/etc.
It's explicit, but perfect and beautiful. And really good sex. Yay.
I got this from NetGalley in exchange for this review.
4/5 - I always have a beard time rating and writing reviews for graphic novels. They are art with a story attached. The art was amazing, I loved the graphics. The stories were great as well. Diverse in every area. I guess if I had to pic a reason for rating 4/5 would be, some of the were weak vehicles to get to the erotica scenes.
*** thank you for allowing me to review this arc.
I liked the diversity in this and some stories were really cute, but the art style was not my thing. It was cute, it was quick, worth a try if you can
Just because some people seem to have selective vision when reading the summary and genres for this book: THIS IS AN EROTICA BOOK. THERE ARE GRAPHIC SCENES. A LOT OF THEM. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Luckily I knew that going in, so I had a really great time reading this. There are five short stories and I really liked the diversity in terms of character design, sexuality, and even where people fell on the heroes vs villains spectrum. I was worried the art would be too cartoony and undefined at first, but once I got into it I found that it actually worked really well. This reminds me a lot of some of the stuff that Smut Peddler puts out so I would say if you like their anthology titles you will probably like this.
This could have been good but i think the author relied too much on conversation that fell short and boring and not enough of the erotica in each story.
This was one of the most entertaining comics I have read in awhile! I didn't even see the tag that it was erotica, so come to my surprise when I see how explicit it is. I will say beware for very explicit sexual content, this isn't your traditional super-hero/villain graphic novel. This book was hilarious! I haven't laughed out loud at a book in a long time and this had be laughing to the point I was crying. Let me just say the art was so fun and the stories were so easy to follow. This book has five different stories focused on five different couples. I loved all of the diverse rep from race, gender, sexuality and especially Fat rep as well as Kink rep. It in a was really realistic because couples don't just come in one man and one women pairings all in one race. I really enjoyed the humor and read it in one sitting. I highly recommend if your looking for a highly entertaining read with some smexiness!
I loved the focus on consent as well as the many ways that it can look like. Many different types of love and couples.
*thank you to Netgalley and Oni Press/Limerence Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
3 stars.
I was not expecting this as it is. So it did make me slightly uncomfortable but the actual stories were entertaining enough. I wasn't a huge fan of the style of the artwork right away but it grew on me. I don't have much to say about this as its not really my type of book but if you are looking for a fun quick, enjoyable, erotica graphic novel, then pick this.
I do have one thing to mention about this book that I did appreciate and that is that the characters all varied in their body size. Definetly thumbs up for that.
This was so adorable and sex-positive.
I was all smiley and aww and I think I said “that’s so cute!” about 30 times.
I really enjoyed how different pairings were portrayed and it’s a refreshing read in such judgemental times (even though society is moving forward but there are still lots of narrow minded people).
I gave it 4/5 because the illustrations in some of the panels were a bit confusing (missing a solid line or shading/colour contrasts between objects) and made it seem like some objects were overlapping or distorted.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely read the author’s other works.
This graphic novel though it deals with adult content does so in a fairly not overly obscene way. The book was very inclusive of different types of sexual proclivities, sexual orientations and racial backgrounds. I was very please at the amount of diversity in the book. The art style is interesting giving it a modern pop art feel. My only gripe would be is that with the vignettes I don't feel I get a chance to develop any feelings or connect with any couple in the novel. Also I feel that it is too short.
I generally don’t read graphic novels such as this but I have to admit it was a delight to read. The stories were well done, consent-focused, written beautifully, filled with good, healthy representations of all kinds of different (and i mean hella inclusive) couples exploring sex, sexuality and all the comes with. And, of course the writing was complimented by the very nice, cute art that somehow enhanced these adorable (steamy) stories. This graphic novel left me wanting more just like this.
Super Fun Sexy Times is a charming, sexy collection of five sci-fi erotica stories. They're pretty weird, very queer, and full of superheroes. The artwork is spare and has a muted color palette, allowing you to sort of fill in the details yourself. It's not a hyper-realistic style, which is totally fine because there are aliens.
There's even a page at the end of each story with superhero profiles of the two characters. It's a whimsical touch that puts the "fun" in Super Fun Sexy Times.
The first story is m/m no strings with a trans mc. It's a bottle episode, with two superheroes on opposite sides getting up to some sexy shenanigans while they wait to make their getaways. One of them has ice arms. and a vaguely lion-ish face.
The remaining four stories are as follows:
2) An m/f "pre-fuck" negotiation between a cis white man and a cis Black woman (who is a virgin). This is full of sexual tension and turns into some kinky kitten roleplay. And they never touch each other. It's super hot.
3) Good Foundations is two villains, one human and one um... not. The story opens with the genderfluid human telling the femme alien?spider? partner that he has a secret. It's a secret that involves gender identity, but also lingerie. The whole thing is nearly unbearably sweet. (I hate spiders and somehow I was okay with this?)
4) Safe is about two superwomen of color doing an intruder/captive roleplay. It doesn't go quite as planned and soon enough, the "intruder" partner is giving the safeword... speculum. Now if you're going to find a word that stops everything immediately? Speculum is the word for you. The dynamic between these two characters was my favorite in the entire book. They're so clearly in love and have been exploring their fantasies together. It's respectful and sweet and the ending is loving and hot at the same time.
5) The Responsible Parties is about an aging white assassin and his Black civilian partner, who is waiting for him to come home for dinner. It's adorable and funny and has some distinct service elements.
Okay, that's the nuts and bolts of the book, plus some opinions. I think this is a great start to a new series and I'm looking forward to the rest. Unfortunately, this first volume isn't out until August, so we're going to be waiting a while. One for the pre-order pile, folks!
I received a copy of this book for review from the publisher via NetGalley.
Content Warnings: BDSM, intruder roleplay, assassin and supervillains?
Sometimes it is fun to think about what Superheroes do when no one is watching. With their tight spandex, and well toned bodies, we often <em>ship</em> our favorites together.
So, while all these superheroes are made up, as are the bad guys in some cases, they all have some sort of super power, and that is where we begin each short story.
The pictures are sensual. The sex is all consensual. There is no violence, other than, oh, an assassin throwing a body down a cliff, but that's all we see, not the violence that lead to it.
Back in the 1920s and '30s, there was something called the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tijuana_bible" target="_blank"> Tijuana Bible</a>. They were sexy stories of cartoons that were well known to the public. They were very graphic. The sexual organs were huge, and the women not always willing.
This is not what Super Fun Sexy Times is.

There are gay encounters as well as straight. There are old as well as young.
Not safe for work, by any means, but a good quick erotic read. Recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This erotic graphic novel was nothing I expected but actually everything my heart needed.
I have my experiences with all kinds of manga, but I think I never read an erotica graphic novel before. But the description of this book really intrigued me (I love everything with superheroes and villains and even more if it’s marked LGBT), so I wanted to know what it was about.
I really like the art style of it. Since the contures aren't done with harsh black lines, the art has a very gentle and pretty aesthetic to it that fits the content perfectly.
And it's not just superheroes and villains having sex. The characters happen to be heroes and villains (and not necessarily human) who have sex at some point of their chapter, but what I got from the four short stories is that the graphic novel is more about people opening up about their insecurities and identities and exploring their sexual fantasies with their partners in a very trusting and consensual (but still really hot) way.
Every single story in this book is incredibly beautiful and I'm glad I got to read it.
I'll be upfront and say that I somehow missed the "erotica" tag on Netgalley when I first downloaded this graphic novel, so it did take me off-guard a little bit to see how explicit the scenes were! I wasn't going to mention that in this review until I noticed some other reviewers saying they had similar experiences, so I just want to point that out for anyone who may not be comfortable viewing explicit materials. It didn't bother me, it just surprised me a little. 😅
With that out of the way, Super Fun Sexy Times is an absolutely gorgeous, adorable, and inclusive AS HELL anthology about superheroes and their romantic escapades. There is just such a wide variety of rep in here — we've got characters of varying races, sexualities, identities, and body types — and they're all so soft and sweet and lovable. There's a bit of exploration into some kinks, and what I loved most of all is how consent-focused the stories were. In some of the stories, the romantic partners literally sit down, fully clothed and non-sexual, to discuss things ahead of time, and I thought that was such a fantastic representation of what consent talks need to look like for a lot of couples (especially when kinks and exploration are involved!).
All in all, I just thought this was such an important, necessarily, lovely, and well-crafted graphic novel and I'm really appreciative that I had the chance to read it. ♥
Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
If you are looking for a sex positive, queer inclusive, superhero themed erotic graphic short story collection – then look no further! If you suddenly want to read a book like that, then Super Fun Sexy Times is for you!
In a collection of five NSFW short stories, Meredith McClaren explores a number of themes that surround sex and relationships, but within a superhero context. The themes explored and stories told are not specifically superhero in nature, but this added depth adds so many unexplored layers to traditional superhero dynamics.
You go from one story depicting two superhero lovers negotiating their sexual relationship and history, to a villain dealing with self doubt and thoughts that they are going soft in their old age. Both are told through the lens of superheroes but at heart they explore everyday worries and situations. Which you know, is what superhero comics do. Super Fun Sexy Times just adds some super fun sexy times and explores this through sex.
Also huge shout out to the sex positivity and amazing QUILTBAG inclusion! I not only found Super Fun Sexy Times beautiful to look at and read, but beautiful in its content.
Discussions of consent and desires? Yes.
Unrepentantly sex positive depictions of love, sex and desire? Yes.
Beautiful representations of gender, sexuality, body types, and relationships? Yes!
Super Fun Sexy Times has them all!
BEST BITS
*The art – McClaren has such a distinct and beautiful style. Not only are the stories amazing but the way in which they are told is just so beautiful. I am in love with her style, bold shapes, and character design. Also those blush lines 🥰
*Good Foundations – Of the five stories, ‘Good Foundations’ was my favourite. Not only was the discussion of gender and sex amazing but the inclusion of a not-completely-human character was great. While not a soft touch, the physical differences of the characters fall to the background of the emotional story being told. Loved it!
*Those costume designs – 🤤🥰
VERDICT
I loved Super Fun Sexy Times, it was beautiful to look at and to read. I enjoyed each story and fell in love with the universal emotional themes that were portrayed through the featured superheroes.
Super Fun Sexy Times is a perfect title because the book is full of fun, superhero sexy times. Bring on Super Fun Sexy Times volume 2!
