Nell Flynn is an FBI agent who returns to Long Island following the death of her father. Her father was a local detective and Nell gets involved in a case involving the death of two women. As she gets more and more involved she comes to believe that her father is somehow involved and as she begins to investigate further, more and more uncomfortable truths are revealed as she begins to uncover some long held secrets.
I was very much looking forward to reading this having heard great things about Cristina Alger's previous book, The Bankers Wife, but having not yet read anything by her. It did not disappoint. The main character, Nell, is a strong and well drawn protagonist, with a complicated past. The book started relatively slowly for me but built as it went along with plenty of twists along the way and by the end I did not want to put it down without knowing the conclusion.
Am off to catch up on the Bankers Wife now and look forward to Alger's next book.
Nell goes home to her fathers funeral. She has not been close to her father for many years. He was a policeman at the Suffolk county police department. Nell also is in the police, but after a injury to her shoulder she has been told to rest.
Nell meets the men close to,her father, and they discuss what an amazing man he was.
Then Nell finds he had a lot of secrets, an apartment and money in an offshore bank.
She starts to question how he got the money, and found his motor bike had been tampered with causing his death.
The story then dragged on until she found out all her fathers secrets.
A brilliant crime novel!
It has everything i need in a good story - a gripping beginning, an exciting middle, and an unpredictable end.
Merged with a likeable main character and this book is a winner for crime fiction fans everywhere.
Easily worthy of 4.5 stars.
