This was a quick, and cute stand alone read with interesting (if not overly complex) characters. I enjoyed watching these two unconventional people navigate their feelings for one another, first as friends, and then as more. I always enjoy a good friends to lovers type of story and that is just what we got here. Although I will say that I was not surprised at the revelation at the end - and honestly I couldn't understand how it had taken Priscilla so long to come to the same conclusion. All of the signs were there throughout her life.
One of the characters that easily stole the show was Priscilla's parrot Koffi. You were pretty much guaranteed a laugh whenever he was involved.
Overall, I would recommend this novel to those who enjoy sweet romances with unconventional characters. I would read more from this author.

Thaddeus is ready to fall in love and live happily ever after. He just needs to find the bride that will want him for himself, because he has not title and while he lives comfortably, he's not rich. A chance encounter with Priscilla Weatherby and her absolute refusal to even dance with him leaves him baffled.
It's not like Priscilla doesn't like Thaddeus... he actually seems perfect if you want a husband. But she doesn't. She's months away from finally inheriting her money and set sails to find her adventurous father and grandfather and be with them. It's all she ever wanted. To never be left behind again.
a wonderful novella of two characters that were meant to be and how they fell in love and got there.
I really enjoyed it!
Really loved this Wicked Dukes' story!
We first met Thaddeus Middleton in the Duke of Colehaven's story. Then he was searching for a way to have his ward marry. Now Thaddeus is looking for a wife--one that will love him. I must say there is something so endearing about Thaddeus. I quite adore him.
Miss Priscilla Weatherby is trying to avoid marriage. She wants to remain a spinster, inherit her ten thousand pounds, and set sail for grand adventures just like her father and grandfather. (Sadly, to me, it seems she is unimportant to them, but Priscilla is full of hope and determination.) She plans out her seasons like a general does a battle
Her tactias are remarkable. The conditions of the inheritance are that she must remain single and no hint of scandal must be attached to her name.
But she hadn't counted on Thaddeus!
Quirky scenes reveal more of her. I love her interactions with her grey king parrot.
I love even more the stalking waltz and besottedness between the kitten and the parrot.
This is a sheer good fun read with some sadness and saving graces!
A NetGalley ARC
Be still my heart. It's been a while where main character had me swooning so hard as did Thaddeus. That was the sweetest. I wanted to crawl into this story had throw myself at him and beg him to love me. As for Priscilla; I liked how determent she was and wouldn't settle. It was fun to see Thaddeus breaking down her walls without her really realising it.
This series just keeps improving with each story that comes out. I'm a huge fan and can't wait to see what happens next.

This charming Regency romance is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club series by two of my favorite romance authors, Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. While the stories interconnect, each book focuses on one couple and can be enjoyed on its own.
I have really been enjoying the characters in this series, and I appreciate that these books are populated with strong, smart female characters with agency. As in the earlier books, both of the main characters in this story are likable and fun to get to know. However, much to my delight, the parrot and the kitten steal all of the scenes they are in, generating lots of laughs.
This is a light read with an easily resolved conflict. I particularly enjoyed Priscilla and Thaddeus’s exchanges in French, which are translated in context, and the hilarious climactic scene (now one of my favorite endings). I recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone who enjoys light historical romance or romantic comedy.
Note that this book includes one scene of premarital sex, but it’s not too graphic. Other than that one scene, this is a sweet, clean read that I would feel comfortable recommending to my mother or grandmother.
I was provided an ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. The ARC I received was well written, appropriately edited, and neatly formatted.
If you love to read historical romance novels means that great loves and love at first sight are precious items in your reading, right?
This book here is precious because it has elements so distinct but at the same time so dear.
Let's start with the male character, Thaddeus (I love that name !!) Middleton. He is not titled and is looking for true love. Yes, that's what you read; HE wants to marry for love.
And when he goes hunting for the perfect wife for him, the difficulty is greater than he imagined, but ... oh ... he meets Miss Priscilla Weatherby and invites her to dance, and she ...denies!!!
Unlike Thaddeus, Priscilla is not in search of a marriage.
After her mother's death, her father told her about a trust she would receive on her 25th birthday, but...
She would have to follow some rules, and one of them was not getting married.
So, let's say, Thaddeus appeared in her life at the wrong time.
Or not...
The passion between them grew overwhelmingly, but the goals of each were very different.
What would win? Priscilla's willingness to be independent and able to travel? Or the adventure of finding and living a true love?
5 stars
I’m loving this series so far and each book just gets better – can you imagine how good the last one will be! It was an absolutely delightful read – no drama, no angst, just a wonderful romance between the sweetest hero you’ll ever meet and a lovely heroine who has always wanted someone to love her but didn’t know that was what she wanted.
Thaddeus Middleton is a romantic in the truest sense of the word and he’s been looking for ‘The One’ for ten years. He faithfully attends Almacs on Wednesdays, dances with the ladies and flirts with them. Not a single one of them has made him see rainbows. Now, there is Priscilla Wetherby – and she makes his heart beat faster – and she wants nothing to do with him.
Priscilla Wetherby wants to be an adventurer – just like her father and grandfather. Her father promised her there was a £10,000 inheritance waiting for her when she turned five and twenty. All she had to do remain scandal free, remain on the marriage mart and if she was still unmarried at five and twenty, the inheritance was hers. She’d be free to travel the world and become an adventurer.
When Thad approached her for a dance, she felt the sparks, but she couldn’t allow him to become close. She had to become an adventurer and have a happy life. When he persists, she runs – then thinks maybe . . .
It is quite a lovely read and I highly recommend it.

Priscilla Weatherby craves adventure and wants nothing else but to join her father and grandfather on their traveling adventures all over the world. Never mind that she hasn't heard from them for almost 10 years and that her father had made her a deal that if she learned to be responsible and was not married by her 25th birthday, she would inherit enough money to join them.
Thaddeus Middleton is ready to settle down and is looking for a wife. The one he decides upon is Priscilla but she is not interested in him whatsoever....or is she?! I thought this was such a charming story and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to end. Erica Ridley is such a wonderful author and I always look forward to reading her books.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The joy and love between Thaddeus and Priscilla were romantic. Priscilla had grand dreams and thought when she turned five and twenty, all her dreams would come true. Thaddeus had a different dream. He wanted a stable loving relationship. Even though they wanted different lives, they could not stop the attraction between them. An excellent read and I do recommend it. One Night of Passion is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. It was the third book so written by Erica Ridley. I love this series. This book was just as good as the first two and I really loved it. The writing is so good and I loved Thaddeus and Priscilla. Can wait to read more of this serie!
This is the third book in the series and each book gets better and better! This was such a sweet and humorous romance. Thaddeus (Thad) Middleton was such a sweet romantic gentleman and believed that he would find “The One” and know it right away. Priscilla was trying to avoid marriage and was very ingenious in ways to “hide” while participating in the Marriage Mart. There was so much humor in the interactions between Thad, Priscilla, Koffi and Wednesday. Thad and Priscilla are drawn towards each other but Priscilla wants to experience “adventure” and isn’t wanting to get married. Their HEA didn’t seem possible until Priscilla realizes in the end that what she thought she wanted wasn’t really what she wanted! The story was so enjoyable and easy to read. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

i actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.
Yes, it was predictable but in the very best way. The villain was clear from the outset and, although there was mention of previous heroines, it didn't matter that I hadn't read the previous books in the series.
I did call the majority of the "big reveals" before they happened but it didn't take away my enjoyment and I still couldn't put it down.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Third volume in the Wicked Dukes Club series of which I didn’t read the previous ones (as usual lol), One Night of Passion can be read as a standalone. The author reverses the habits as this time it’s the hero who wants to marry for love and the heroine who doesn’t want to marry at all.
And to go on with this reversal I’ll begin with the hero: Thaddeus is a wonderful hero!!! He’s nice, attentive, understanding, optimistic, with a very British teasing and a bit ironic humor… He decided to marry for love not to reproduce his parents’ marriage, and he has very strong and idealistic views on the feeling: “Love felt like the singing of angels and the thunder of fireworks. It was intimate confessions and breathless kisses and riding white horses into the sunset. Love meant waking every morning next to someone as delighted to see him as he was to see her. A fairy-tale come to life.” And all lol.
During the balls he takes care to always invite wallflowers to dance, and that’s how he meets Priscilla, who’s not at all delighted by his attention and tells him plainly.
Priscilla is a heroine who knows what she wants. Adventurers’ daughter and grand-daughter, she’s been dreaming since her childhood to be able to join the men of her family in their explorations. And as a long time ago her father promised her a big trust fund if she wasn’t married when she turns 25, she does everything she can to avoid masculine solicitations. She also helps young women in finding a good match by dispensing advises, and to busy herself she internally grades people according to their actions, all the while counting the days till her independence.
Both are quickly intrigued by the other, then gradually attracted mentally as physically. They stimulate each other and I found them cute together. Of course Priscilla tries to resist because she thinks Thad will end up abandoning her like her father when she was little, but the young man’s infinite patience is a big appeal to her. We really see their feelings evolve even if there’s no torrid passion. And we see both, but especially Priscilla, reassess their desires and expectations according to these feelings and the other’s needs.
Plus there this light and teasing humor that had me smiling almost for the whole book. The little funny repartees, the little double meanings, the situations a little exaggerated but without (much) overstepping the limits – big strong point IMO as I don’t care for most so-called funny authors.
So perhaps if I hadn’t had a succession of less than average reads I wouldn’t have been as enthusiastic about this novel. But perhaps I would have been all the same. In any case I didn’t know this author and I don’t really know how I found myself on her mailing list, but I loved this cute story light as a champagne bubble and I can only recommend it.
Loved the story of Priscilla and Thaddeus! I liked the idea that there was no "evil protagonist" waiting in the wings to destroy the couple. It was just the choices they had to make regarding their past and their future. I wasn't entirely happy with how Thaddeus was sorta romantically sappy in the beginning about finding the "perfect" princess, but his witty conversations with Priscilla made it worthwhile! My only problem was that I don't understand French and several of the comments were lost to me! Thank you for the advanced copy!
Thaddeus and Priscilla, quite conservative names for unconventional characters. Not your usual story, but in fact quite the opposite. I found it delightful and couldn’t stop smiling the entire time I was reading it! I received an ARC for my honest review.
Wonderful romance with a thought-provoking twist!
Marrying for money was common enough in the 19th century, but this book puts a new spin on that concept by giving us a heroine who has chosen to remain unmarried, despite her grandmother's best efforts, in order to achieve financial independence.
Thad is a gentleman through and through, and he has no interest in marrying for money, social position, or any of the usual incentives. Thad wants to marry for love, and his heart has told him that Priscilla is his perfect match.
Beyond this setup, the story has tremendous emotional depth as we learn more about the characters' backgrounds and heartaches, and the unspoken reasons for the decisions that are made. The climax is cathartic, and their HEA delivers everything they've ever wanted. It was a spectacular read, the best so far in an amazing series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
ONE NIGHT OF PASSION by Erica Ridley is book number three in the series WICKED DUKES CLUB. The series is presented with a wonderful twist: the odd-numbered books are written by Ms. Ridley, but the even-numbered books are written by Darcy Burke. Despite the alternating sequence, the characters flow through all of the books smoothly. This lovely novel gives us the story of “plain mister” Thaddeus Middleton and the woman he finds fascinating, Miss Priscilla Weatherby.
Thaddeus unashamedly knows what he wants a love match. Although he is fairly well off, he wants a woman who can love him for himself and not for his money. Thus far, at age 28, that has not yet happened.
Priscilla is a determined almost-spinster. She craves adventure, and if she can just hold on for a few more years, she’ll be 25, unmarried, and (hopefully) scandal-free.
THAT means she’ll gain a £10,000 inheritance and be able to see the world — as long as she can find her adventuring father and grandfather, who have been jaunting about the world for the past fourteen years, leaving Priscilla with her grandmother.
With wonderful characters, the novel simply sparkles! Thaddeus is clearly a wonderful guy: kind, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a hand. He considerately makes an effort to seek out wallflowers at gatherings, which is how he met Priscilla. Unfortunately, Priscilla wants to continue being a wallflower so she may remain unmarried and - eventually - independently £10,000 richer. She wants adventure with a capital A. But there’s just something special about Thaddeus...
I truly enjoyed ONE NIGHT OF PASSION. The dialogue was snappy and witty, but then heartfelt and emotional when required. There were no long, drawn out sections of description that lacked some sort of action. As a result, I found the book to be difficult to put down.
I received a pre-release copy of this lovely novel via NetGalley and am gladly providing my personal review.
Wonderful characters. Interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. Simply a GREAT read!

I love the plot of this story. This story is about Thaddeus Middleton, who is a romantic and is on the hunt for a wife. Instead he finds a woman not interested in him at all. Miss Priscilla Weatherby will inherit a fortune is she remains unwed and scandal-free. This was a funny story.
I'm loving this series.
Penelope tries to keep a low profile when out in public. At twenty-three she's already considered on the shelf. If she can just make it to her tweny-fifth birthday, then she'll get her trust fund to travel the world with her father and grandfather. But love has a way of changing things and when Thaddeus sets his eyes on her, he will do whatever he can to change her mind.
A short read with a fast pace.
