Jane Gable returns home from her shift at the hospital one night to find her children asleep in bed and her husband gone, his phone and wallet left behind. John had always been dependable. He's a former alcoholic, has he relapsed? An old friend of Johns had turned up the day before he disappeared and Janes son had seen a mysterious blonde woman at the house, is there a connection. The book is full of twists and turns. It's quite a chilling read. I was gripped from the beginning wanting to know what had happened to John. The nook kept me guessing all the way through.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Joffe Books and the author T. J. Brearton for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Y'allllll go read this book! I mean doesn't the title just make you want to right away?! I know it did for me and I am so happy I was able to read it. The story line is such a great thriller. T.J. Brearton did a fantastic job with this one and I cannot wait to read more.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, particularly, as I’ve enjoyed others by this author. It’s a great premise that has a family dealing with day to day issues when a man turns up at the door, claiming to be a school friend of the husband. What follows is an OK read that involves mystery and suspense. It just doesn’t hang together that well and none of the characters are sufficiently well written to be cared about that much, except for Melody and her brother, who I found to be the most believable.

I almost felt as if this was a work in progress, rather than a finished article, although, overall, it’s not a bad read and has some good elements.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and author for the opportunity to preview.

John Gable is a writer and is having issues after writing several successful novels. Jane, his wife, is a nurse practitioner at a nursing home working the evening shift while John is at home with their two children. When a man from John’s past stops by their home, John seems strained...as if he does not want to reconnect with this man. At the end of her late shift, Jane returns home to find the children in bed, but John is gone. His car is gone, but he did not take his wallet or phone. At first Jane is confused, then mildly worried. When he does not return by the next day, she knows she needs help and calls the state police. John has been sober for the past ten years, yet Jane finds an almost empty bottle of liquor in his office. She knows that John wouldn’t have left her and the children. Do the police think she had something to do with his disappearance? I found the plot a little boring as the story very slowly developed. Although this is a well written book it did take me a while to get into it and I am sorry to say I found it a bit boring and did do a lot of skim reading just to get to the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Sorry so say I really couldn’t get into this book. It wasn’t bad it was just a very boring storyline. There really wasn’t any suspense or thrilling parts about this. At times it could be a bit confusing. I would not recommend this book. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.
