This book wasn't for me.
I found it very hard to get into the book!! Half way through it did start to pick up. Tansy got dumped by Renzo, the love of her life. In order to win him back, she "accidentally"bumps into him a few times.
Adam and Josh are amazing characters, very funny. Their obsession with the neighbours cat freezer is the highlight of the book for me.

Such a fun book. It's hard to really explain what I loved about it without spoilers, but Tansy's a great character. I loved watching her grow and change throughout the book. I'll definitely be reading other books by this author.

I tried and tried with this one it but it simply didn’t work for me. The voice was off, the writing and story inserts felt random and misplaced, and overall I was confused by the tone at times too. I think we just weren’t meant to be me and this book.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"It's Not You It's Him" is a quick, and fairly entertaining read. Unlike most "chick-lit" rom-coms, this novel surprised me by giving the protagonist real-life problems that readers can relate to. Most romantic comedy heroines live in flats that are way above their pay-grade, somehow afford the most outrageous clothing and accessories, and are just the right kind of precious. Here, Tansy's history is slowly unveiled through flashbacks to her childhood and teenage years, revealing issues with body image and body shaming, resultant eating disorders, and the far-reaching effects of addictive gambling.

Tansy is also refreshingly flawed in a way that is rarely seen in this type of story. It's one thing to be a shopaholic, another to strip for strangers in front of a webcam, or steal merchandise from work to supplement your income, no matter the intentions. I enjoyed how those experiences made her feel more real.

The novel incorporates many other socially important themes (Asian sweatshops and child labor, for example), but ultimately they were treated a bit superficially. Yet, I appreciated having them brought to the readers' attention in this type of writing.

Despite these small misgivings, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys light, quick reads, that are more than what appears on the surface.

3.5 stars! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

I needed a light, romantic comedy and this fit the bill. I could tell (for the most part) how the story was going to end, but yet I still stayed up late to finish it.

I loved the background of the fashion industry from a buyer's viewpoint. I'd love to see the dresses that Chelsea designed. If you want a book that has a happy ending for every character that deserved it (not you Renzo) then this is it!

This is the second book I have read by Sophie Ranald (I loved Sorry Not Sorry) and I enjoyed it! It's Not You It's Him is a great summer read. I thought it was fun, but not necessarily as funny as the blurb leads you to believe. I found Tansy to be relatable and I think a lot of 20 something women will relate to her. I didn't agree with her actions a lot of the time but I think that's what makes her relatable!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Fun read published just in time to be your next great summer pick!

The characters were developed, interesting, likable and had relationships with each other that I found I could either relate to myself or enjoyed reading about. I particularly enjoyed Ranald's ability to capture the importance of embracing change and realizing one's own self-worth (as I feel like this is a very relevant struggle for many people) while doing so in a fun read.

Tansy is a quintessential 20-something struggling with relationships, family, and work. Renzo is entirely detestable, but not uncommon specimen in the dating world. And Josh is a crushable "boy next door". Tansy's internal growth spurt was very familiar so I found this book somewhat comforting with the occasional humor tied in.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC.

I received "It's Not You It's Him" by Sophie Ranald for free through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Based on the hype that I had read/heard about the book I was expecting a hilarious book. It was certainly humorous, but not something that made me laughing out loud. I did really enjoy the book and will definitely look for more books by this author. I did find that the main character was a bit daft as to what a tool her ex-boyfriend was and in some of the tricks that she thought that her new love interest/fake boyfriend (he doesn't know he's fake) played on her as a child.

Much like with Sophie Ranald’s Sorry Not Sorry, I struggled to put this book down! I was so happy to see that Tansy got her own story as I really enjoyed her in Charlotte’s book. Highlight? The rivalry between Josh and Adam. I found the battle, at least in Adam’s mind, for Freezer’s affection hysterical and endearing. I would love to read Adam's HEA!

Overall, this was an excellent work of women’s fiction that tackles difficult topics, particularly eating disorders and bullying. Sophie Ranald really brought all the feels in this book. If you are looking for a romance that slowly builds to the end, then you will probably be disappointed. If you want to watch a woman slowly come into her own as she works to live her best life and engages in some rather desperate behavior to win a scumbag back, then definitely pick up this book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
I have read the previous book, Sorry Not Sorry, where Freezer (the cat) is a fixture too. Like her last novel, it takes a while for the main character to get over an ex (or the wrong man). I understand Tansy had many underlying issues (more than I realised after the first book), so it did contribute to her low self esteem, however it felt a tad too long to be 'in love' with him still. Especially after all the crappy things he did.
Again, the book was written well and engaging, it was just more serious than hilarious though.

Funny rom com. Tansy wants to get her boyfriend Renzo back. She enlists the help of flatmate Adam who works with him, but as we get towards the end of the book maybe Renzo isn't who or what she wants....Its a lovely light read, I particularly liked the story of Chelsea, who could definitely be developed into a stand alone book. Its apparent this book is a follow up to Sorry not Sorry which I haven't read, but now want to. A great easy read.

This was a very fun book. It was light and easy to read and made me laugh, but also a bit frustrating at times as I wanted to tell the heroine to GROW UP!! However, that's what made the book fun as it was a roller coaster of emotions. I am anxious to read more from Sophia Ranald.

Thank you Bookuture and Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book started a little slow but then I loved it. Fun, quick read. If you're a fan of a romantic comedy then pick this one up.

Good, fun book. It started a little slow and I had a hard time getting past the immaturity of the main character, but the plot eventually started coming together.

This is a follow up to Sophie Ranald's last novel, Sorry Not Sorry, but it stands alone too. It follows the intriguing tale of Tansy Barlow, the impossibly glamorous flatmate whose shameful secret got her dumped catastrophically on New Year's Eve. Tansy is determined, come what may, to Get Renzo Back.

The reader knows that he's probably a bad lot with serious madonna vs whore issues, but like your best mate chasing an unsuitable guy, you have to let Tansy make her own mistakes and hope that one day she'll notice the hottie standing right next to her. Spoiler: there's a top notch sex scene - so difficult to write well, but Sophie Ranald nails it (so to speak...).

Tansy's exciting job as a fashion buyer in a sorta net-a-porter operation means we get a great side plotline showing the downsides to fast fashion, and a glimpse into the passion and persistence required to make it in design when you've plenty of talent but no money and no time. (Note to Bookouture: please commission the third instalment, following the lovely Chelsea as she tries to make it in haute couture.) Talking of trilogies, the three way man-cat-man bromance had me chuckling. There's nothing finer than a couple of handsome men getting gooey over a cat...

I loved this: it's frothy romance of the very best sort.

(I received a free review copy from NetGalley, thank you!)

This is a great, easy read, perfect for fans of romantic comedies. Its set (I think) in 2018 so plenty of modern-day references, the characters are great, particularly Felicity. It was refreshing to see a character in this genre that's average sized and not trying to lose weight (at least when we first meet her) and I also loved how this book developed what we knew about Tansy's work life in the fashion industry.

If you've read Sophie's previous book Sorry Not Sorry (and can remember what happened) then you will be in on Tansy's secret until about a quarter of the way through; but I don't think one way of approaching this would be better than the other, one makes you feel like you're in on the secret as to why Tansy and Renzo's relationship ended, the other adds an air of mystery, putting you in the same position as most of Tansy's friends who all seemed to have viewed their six month relationship as going really well up to its abrupt ending just before Christmas.

I wouldn't call this a sequel to Sorry Not Sorry but it does pick up where it left off and we follow some of the same characters. Its New Year's Eve and Tansy has decided on her New Year's resolution, to win back her recent ex, Renzo.  Alongside this parts of Tansy's past come back to haunt her when an old school friend becomes her new housemate, Josh's return from Australia brings back all sorts of memories from her teenage years, introducing a few more serious topics than you'd probably expect from first impressions.

A great book! Something fascinating to curl up with on a rainy evening, holding a cup of tea... The characters are believable and realistic. Kudos to the writer!

Light beachy read, I enjoyed this a lot! The reveals were predictable but that didn't dampen my appreciation.
