Overall a good read. I’ve read one other in the series and preferred this book. There was a good flow and interesting, likeable characters. I always like to see old characters stories updates in an series. Moments of hilarity and plenty to make you smile about. An enjoyable summer read.
Thank you NetGalley
As soon as I started Summer Love, I felt immediately at home back in the village, catching up with some familiar characters. Pippa is a lovely addition with a quirky and individual streak and an endearing family to get to know. Kam arrives in the village as an outsider but is soon welcomed in. I enjoyed meeting his family too. As Kam and Pippa realise, they have a lot in common, especially their mothers' desires for their futures. At heart, we have a pair who are kind and sympathetically drawn.
There are plenty of humorous moments in the story. All the siblings offer their own views on life in the village and there is plenty of banter and chat which gives it a credible feel. How the school puts up with Marion, of the PTA, I am not sure but I have a feeling that there is more to come in her story- I am hoping we get to read it. Beautiful Cornwall features as ever. You can't beat this for a summer weekend read.
In short: Sun, sea, friends and family goings-on in beautiful Cornwall.
Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.
Happily single Pippa Parkin is a Teaching Assistant at Penmenna Primary School. Her mum Jan is desperate to change her status into "in relationship", so when Pippa's childhood friend James returns to to Penmenna, Jan tries her hand at match - making. However, Pippa has other plans and maybe, just maybe, they involve the new substitute teacher Kam Choudhury? There is this instant attraction between them, however, Kam had a five year plan to get a full time teaching post and didn't plan and distractions, and Pippa understands this but well, heart wants what it wants, right? After a night spent together, Kam sends Pippa a litter where he declares her his love but Pippa doesn't receive it, until it's probably too late!
This is the third and, as far as I know, last part in The Cornish Village School series, and I bitterly regret that I haven't read the two previous books! Yes, I think you can read it as a standalone, and while characters from the previous stories do pop up, the story focuses on Pippa and Kam and you really don't have to know what has happened in the two previous books. But I want to! Going immediately on wish - list, those two babies.
The characters were so well - drawn! Sure, they were a bit too far fetched sometimes but altogether they were quirky, bouncy and full of life, and not only the main characters, but also the background ones. Pippa and Kam were great as leading persons, but I also loved their overbearing mothers, Kam's sisters, Pippa's family and the whole rest. And Flynn the dog deserves a honourable mention! There is so much humour and love between the characters, and they really come to life, thank to Kitty Wilson's light writing. It was a real delight to get to know the Penmenna crowd.
It was incredibly light - hearted read with the best banter between the characters in the world. The writing style is conversational and welcoming, full of warmth and humour and it flows so seamlessly forward.
Altogether, it was a simple, heart - warming, full of gorgeous romance book about (interfering) families, friendship and community. You can of course predict the end and know there are going to be some challenges to overcome on the way to the happy end but it's really well written and entertaining, a real joy to read. Recommended!
Kitty Wilson is back with a delightful, uplifting and feel-good summer romance that sparkles with humour and charm: The Cornish Village School – Summer Love.
For Pippa Parkin, life in the Cornish village of Penmenna is sedate, safe and predictable and she has absolutely no problem with that. The quiet pace of life in the rural village and the minutiae of small town life suits her down to the ground. She does not want or need excitement – when she wants to get the adrenaline pumping all she has to do is manage the Easter Egg Hunt or else think about all the challenges that are part and parcel of her job as a teaching assistant. Happily single, Pippa is absolutely not in the market for a relationship and is content with her own company. However, it’s a shame that her mother is not suitably convinced. Her mother keeps egging her on to find the man of her dreams and live a life of marital bliss, but Prince Charming is proving to be rather elusive and he is certainly not going to come striding through Penmenna….or will he?
Penmenna School has got a new substitute teacher – and he is drop dead gorgeous! Sparks immediately begin to fly between Kam and Pippa and pretty soon, the two realise that their feelings from one another are far from professional or platonic. As an attraction develops between the two of them, Kam and Pippa realise that they’ve developed feelings for one another, however, would the fact that they work together make a future outside of the school gates an impossibility?
As more obstacles begin to come their way, will Pippa and Kam find their way to be together? Or is their relationship meant to remain purely a professional one? Will Penmenna work its magic on the two lovebirds? Or will circumstance end up tearing them apart?
It’s always a pleasure to head back to Cornwall and Penmenna and Kitty Wilson has once again outdone herself with a spellbinding and satisfying installment that will keep readers absolutely glued to its pages The Cornish Village School – Summer Love is a wonderful tale of unexpected surprises, taking chances and inconvenient attraction that I struggled to put down and which kept me engrossed from beginning to end.
Pippa and Kam’s love story will touch readers’ hearts and make them giggle and they are sure to be swept away by their romantic, heartwarming and feel-good love story.
Kitty Wilson has penned another excellent tale that is simply sensational and I cannot wait to return to the picturesque village of Penmenna again!
Pippa, a primary school teaching assistant, isn’t quite sure what she wants out of life. She is happily single and always at the heart of any community event. Which is how she meets Kam, a teacher who has just applied for a job at the same primary school.

Kam is also quite happy living the single life and working towards his 5 year plan. Until his crush on Pippa put his plans on hold. They have so much in common, a love of education, community and family. Is there a chance that they can turn their friendship into something more?

I was home sick yesterday and this was such a lovely, sweet novel. I would love to read the rest of the series.
This is the first book I have read in this series. I don't think you need to read the first two to enjoy this one but it might help. Pippa is a teachers assistant at Penmenna School and Kam is hired to cover maternity leave. When these to meet it is a little humerus and I admit I had to chuckle at a few things. Will these two get together? It is an enjoyable read to see if they do or don't.
Such a treat to be back in Penmenna, among the familiar characters and meeting new ones!
In this, the third book in series, we are following the life of Teaching Assistant, Pippa Parkin. Happy with life at the moment, Pippa is jolted out of her comfort zone when she meets Kam Choudhury in the school car park and feels an instant attraction. As he turns out to be her new colleague, she strives to keep a lid on her feelings - but how well can she manage it?
This is a fun read; alongside the burgeoning attraction between Pippa and Kam, there is humour - great big dollops of it. The characters really come to life thanks to Kitty Wilson's beautiful writing. Pippa's mother is a real card - loving with it, but definitely doesn't know where to draw the line! Her flatmate's hobby made me giggle throughout - I'm so glad i didn't have to share a home with her! Catching up with the original inhabitants was a sheer delight .. it's all very cleverly structured; always something to keep my attention on the page. Truly enjoyable! I just have to mention the fabulous covers for this series - they really do the stories justice. I'm absolutely delighted to recommend this - in fact, the whole series is fabulous and fully earns five gleaming gold stars!
My thanks to publisher Canelo for my copy via NetGalley, and especially to Ellie Pilcher for inviting me onto this Blog Tour. All opinions given are entirely my own.
A frothy, fun beach read! I highly recommend it!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I am loving this series so far as the characters just get better and better. The addition of substitute teacher Kam is refreshing and I enjoyed seeing how much in common Pippa and Kam's mothers had. This is a lovely, light summer read that will transport you to Cornwall to a unique setting. I hope there are more books to follow.
Pippa Parkin is a Teaching Assistant at Penmenna School, a primary school in the idyllic Cornish village of the sane name. When fellow colleague Lynne goes on maternity leave, there's speculation as to who will be the substitute.
It turns out the ideal candidate is Kem Chaudhry, a man from a Hindu family in Middlesborough who finds himself in Penmenna after a breakup.
Pippa also has a man in her past, in the form of James who is still around in Penmenna. Will working together be too complicated for Pippa and Kem?
Summer Love is the third and final installment in the Cornish Village School series.
Old and new faces are in the book and it is fun, realistic and relaxing.
4 stars
Thanks to Kitty Wilson and Canelo for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review as well as my space on the blog tour for this title.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Did not realise this was book 3, saying that quite enjoyed it but think I would have given higher stars if I had read the first 2
What another fun read this proved to be - a great addition to the series! Pippa Parkin lives and works in the Cornish village of Penmenna where she's a teaching assistant. She first encounters Kam Choudhury when he is attempting to leave the school after a job interview there. His car won't start and she's dressed up as the Easter Bunny!! There's instant mutual attraction between the two but they're working together in the same class . . . . a situation where relationships will be frowned on! Anyway, Pippa's childhood boyfriend is back in the village and seems to want to rekindle their relationship. What will Pippa decide to do? Actually will she have any chance to make her own mind up as her Mum, Jan Parkin, can't resist matchmaking!
This is a lovely story of Cornish village life, with great characters, community events and interfering families all adding to the mix. As if Jan isn't enough, Kam's Mum, Geeta Choudhary, and his three sisters all get involved in this heartwarming romance. There's lots of banter between the siblings, matchmaking from both parents and a missing letter to cause misunderstandings! It is great to catch up on some of the characters from earlier books in this series, though Flynn in particular deserves a mention, but don't worry if you haven't read the others as I believe this will also work well as a standalone. I really hope there will be more to come in this series as I really want to know what's going on with Marion Marksharp - I'm sure there should be some revelations about her to come! I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this delightful location and its community again and have no hesitation in highly recommending it.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
This book took off from the first page. The story flowed very well and gave you a glimpse into a life of a young teacher's assistant. It is a great book for anyone interested in twenty-something romance, contemporary romance or life in a village. There is a love triangle and we all have known both of the characters portrayed in the book as love interests. I would recommend this for ladies in their 20s and 30s. Loved the description of the village.
Pippa is a teaching assistant in her village school, and with a sideline in vintage clothing. Her family who all live in the village are trying to pair her off with her childhood friend James, but she has a secret crush and James has grown up to be not a very nice man. This is a light hearted, feel good story, and perfect for a summer holiday read.
I love reading Kitty Wilson books, and The Cornish village school is no exception. I light hearted, easy and heart warming read.
A lovely “will they, won’t they” story about two characters coming from different backgrounds and thrown together in a working environment. As the book progresses the reader learns their backgrounds and finds out what is possible. Definitely recommended.
Really enjoyed this book in the series. I liked both main characters Pippa and Kam. I especially enjoyed Kam, who was Indian but it was never made into a big deal except for his mother and sisters which i thought was hilarious.
A very charming story which i enjoyed very much.
This is such a fab book. Its told from the point of view of both characters Pippa and Kam.
Pippa is a teaching assistant and Kam is a teacher brought in to cover maternity leave. I won't say any more about it incase I give away too much but it is well worth a read!!
What a wonderful novel, a Cornish village setting will take you into the feeling of reality and you will be at one with everyone in the story. There's children, staff, family, sadness, happiness love and heartbreak all in the daily lives within this village. I would recommend this novel as you will really enjoy the storyline and wish it not to end. This is part of a four book series and I am sure you will enjoy them all. I loved it and I am sure you will to.
This is the third book I've read in this series and I've enjoyed each of them. Although it is book 3 in the series, you do not need to have read the first 2 as it works very well as a standalone book
It is an easy going, warm hearted story that makes you smile throughout. Having worked in Cornish schools for years, I know people just like the characters in the book, they are so realistically written, but even with their quirks, they are likeable.
The ideal book when you fancy something light-hearted and uplifting to read.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
