A well laid out story and characters were varied. It also led the reader to ask many questions and ponder on what the individual would do in similar circumstances.

A great historical read, The Contrivance is the thrilling story of the people living during the eighteenth century in Scotland.

The storyline is interesting and leaves you with questions. The characters are well-crafted and make you feel as if you personally know them. Overall, it's a very well written novel.
