Unerwartet lustig und mitreissend - eine Geschichte zum mitfühlen und das Herz verloren - viel besser als erwartet! Ich habe es in einem Rutsch durchgelesen.

It has taken me a long time to read this book and I’m pretty disappointed in myself about that. I absolutely loved it. It had so many moments that made me laugh so hard and equally so many moments that has such emotion. This book had everything I loved. By the end of this book I loved these women as if I knew them. This book had so much girl power within its pages and a little bit of spice. I binged this book and if like me you have had this on your TBR forever, please pick it up! You will love it!

Dawn O'Porter's voice is just so refreshing and real, and any story she turns her hand to is entreating and hilarious but also full of raw emotion. So easy to read, and perfect to wile away a few hours. But make sure that your tea isn't hot, as you'll definitely be snorting it with laughter. Loved it!

Beth, Ruby and Lauren are three women who have it all, considered so incredibly....lucky!
Beth is the quintessential high powered business woman who also happens to be a doting mother. The definition of "goals" for the working mother.
Ruby is a force to be reckoned with, a creative professional and mother to a headstrong toddler. Lauren is being flung into the limelight thanks to her whirlwind romance with a millionaire superstar, what more could a woman want?
As the story is told it becomes clear that whilst on the surface each woman's life looks picture perfect, not everything is as it seems.
Among the drama are some genuinely hilarious moments, usually within the dialogue between the women and their supporting cast. Risky was an outstanding character for me, her dialogue going from deeply heartfelt to crude yet hilarious within moments.
I would absolutely recommend this book for people who like multiple POV, semi mysterious but ultimately feel good contemporary novels.

I read this a few years ago and it doesn't look like I reviewed it. I checked Goodreads and I gave it 4 stars so must have enjoyed it :)

A very unusual read, it made me both laugh out loud and swallow a lump in my throat.
3 very different women all with big issues in their lives, all misunderstood. A brilliant look at the shallowness of social media too.

So Lucky follows three women: Beth who has a new baby but is very unhappy in her marriage, Ruby who feels she needs to keep her entire body covered at all times, and Lauren who we mainly see through her Instagram posts and seems to have a perfect sparkly life.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I dived into this book....it has nothing to do with doughnuts, but maybe that is a metaphor? Does your doughnut with a hole mean you are missing out on something, or does it mean you'll still be satisfied with the fact you have a nice tasty treat regardless?
Following the lives of the different women in the book was empowering and I wondered how they would be brought all together. I loved the dynamic between Beth (new mother) and her young employee (Risky) and how Risky actually had the wiser head on her shoulders when it came to guiding Beth to break free of expectations. The relationship between Ruby and her daughter Bonnie was lovely and made me laugh aloud at several times, I'm a new mum myself and it really made me appreciate the time and relationship I have with my child.
A wonderful, humorous and emotional book.

I really wanted to love this book as I heard so much about it and I like Dawn O'Porter as a TV presenter.
However, I tried and tried again to get into the book, even skipping a few chapters to see if it drew me in, but unfortunately I disliked all the characters, and the writing was laborious to read and so I could not finish the book.

So lucky is a frank funny read that is easily relateable to most women!
We all have our insecurities, doubts and body confidence issues but it’s how we deal with them that matters!
Ruby, Lauren and Beth all have very different issues which are hard for those on the outside to see so are struggling on with different coping mechanisms not always very successfully, being brought together at the wedding of Lauren is a tipping point for all three as they learn to love themselves and accept the issues! Female friendship solidarity and sisterhood are emphasised as they all go into leading more fulfilled happier lives and accept themselves for what they are!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

I really enjoyed this book and would read more from this author. May have been first but won't he the last.

This was funny. Not scoff under your breath funny, actual put the book down for a second and giggle funny. Dawn O'Porter is very witty and smart. The synopsis didn't really fit the story for me, but it doesn't matter. Though it was brilliantly humorous, it was also quite depressing and maddening - I think that this was only achieved because of how brilliant the author's character building is. I especially enjoyed the eventual merging of POVs. Pithy women's fiction

Not my normal genre, but a good lighthearted read. Good book to read on a beach. I will read more from Dawn, find her very likeable.

This book is hilariously funny and cleverly ties together the lives of the people in the book in the end . A nice light read and a good reminder that no one's life is perfect no matter what you see on social media!

I've recently read Life in Pieces by Dawn O' Porter along with The Cows last year. This was another witty and well written book featuring three strong women who at first seem completely unconnected. The characters are really well portrayed and you develop a connection with each one. I liked that difficult topics were tackled but the book still had an uplifting vibe. An engaging read.

I really wanted to enjoy this, but it missed the mark for me. The author seemed to write in stereotypes.

I love Dawn O’Porter’s writing. Her books are guaranteed to hook me from the start and reel me in. So Lucky is another one that I didn’t want to put down and I highly recommend reading it!

This was an interesting story of 3 seemingly unconnected women with their own trials and tribulations. Their lives then start to connect and overlap. I enjoyed the way the story unfolded and how the characters then interacted.

A great book from the talented author of The Cows. Teaches you a lot about what really goes on behind seemingly perfect social media captions and tells the story of three very different types of women who are all struggling with different issues in their lives. Absorbing and unputdownable!

I've read both of Dawn's YA books and enjoyed them, but this is her first adult book that I've read. Her personality shines through into her writing. She's not afraid to talk about things frankly and unashamedly.
There are some scenes that did surprise me with how naughty they were, but not too shocking (just wear headphones if you're listening to the audiobook in the garden with young neighbours around!)
The message that the book gets across about body positivity is very good and I have recommended it to my book club as a great read.
