Brook lived with her husband and daughter Paige. She was a author had a good life though she knew her marriage was in trouble.and that her husband was seeing other woman.
Then Paige got kidnapped , and Brooks life fell apart.
She was told we can see you, what ever you do.
No police get the money for me, and your daughter will be returned unharmed.
Brook could not understand why the kidnapper was not asking for more money, and she realised something was wrong.
.she got the money did not involve the police. Went to meet the kidnapper at the place she was told to go to and then her husband started acting strange.
From then on Brook turned into a one woman army and started killing people and doing things she had never done in her life.
The story then turned a bit silly, how.could a mother, a wife and an author turn into a murderer.
The story was good but very far fetched.
Menacing, twisty, and meticulous!
We Can See You is a highly suspenseful, character-driven, domestic thriller that brings a mother’s worst nightmare to life and explores the terror, chaos, and distress a ruthless kidnapper with forensic savvy and eyes everywhere can wreak.
The writing is taut and sharp. The characters are tenacious, consumed, and multifaceted. And the high-intensity plot quickly unfolds into a tangled web of danger, angst, fear, manipulation, panic, instinct, jealousy, deception, kidnapping, violence, and murder.
Overall, We Can See You is an intricately woven, vengeful, cunning mystery that has a nice sense of urgency, palpable anguish, great pace, and enough twists to keep you guessing until the very last page.
I cannot believe that this is the first book I have read by this author.
How have I missed such an amazing author????
A rocket powered crime thriller. From the first to the last page I was hooked. I could not put it down. Finally turning the last page in the wee hours. In places this read had me sat on the edge of my seat and tapping my kindle faster and faster. As for the ending WHAM definitely not what or who I was expecting. I have been thoroughly entertained while reading this book and I am already searching for more books from this author. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended. A very happy reader.
I would like to thank the author, Random House UK and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.
I read this book originally when it was first published in hardback. It's so good I just had to request a copy when I saw it on NetGalley.
Brook Connor has a high profile TV show, is a best selling author and a life coach. She seems to have the perfect family, with her handsome husband and their five year old daughter. But not all as it seems. On returning home from work late one night, she finds there is no one at home. Her daughter and her nanny are nowhere to be seen. Then she discovers a note in the kitchen informing her that her daughter has been kidnapped. After a few events happen, it's not long before Brook is on the run. The book is told in alternating chapters between Brook and the Detectives Tyrone Giant and Jenny King. There is plenty of twists and some secrets in this fast paced read from the start. The story is action packed and I was rooting all the way for Brook to find her daughter safe and sound. With tension building from the start, this is a well written and gripping story. I loved it.
I would like to thank NetGalley,Random House UK, Cornerstone and the author Simon Kernick for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have read a few of Simon Kernick’s novels before so was delighted to be asked to go on his blog tour for ‘We Can See You’.
This is a fast-paced, exciting novel, which brings in various fragments of clever information throughout and they all hang together exceptionally well.
One evening Brook Conner arrives home to find her five-year old daughter, Paige, and her nanny, Rosa, missing. She calls her husband, Logan, who takes his time getting home. Conner is successful as an author and life coach. Logan is struggling to be an actor and makes his living as a tennis coach. There is a note on the kitchen counter with a cell phone, ‘we have your daughter. We can see you. Do not call the police.’
Logan finally arrives home and takes control of the cell phone even though Conner is suspicious of what is happening. We follow her through getting the ransom money and going with Logan to meet the kidnappers. This is when it all goes wrong and the next thing we read is Conner sitting in a police interview room being grilled for more than one murder including that of her husband.
The previous four days are revealed as Conner tells her side of the story. The two police officers are Tyrone Giant and Jenna King who are a little like chalk and cheese from a personality viewpoint. Conner has her lawyer with her, Angie Southby, but Conner knows that her friendship has always been to Logan so isn’t clear if she will do her best.
The characters are brilliantly crafted and the plot cunningly put together with those twists, turns and inter-linking lives that found me shocked on more than one occasion. A must read.
Thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and Simon Kernick for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Brilliant Read. Highly Recommended.
My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Random House UK, Cornerstone, for the ARC.
This novel is a really rather fast-paced and exciting read. So many gradually-introduced snippets of background information twist the story into a myriad of directions, until all starts to fall into place.
Brook Connor is a successful author and life-coach. She has a good life, large house, and money. Her husband Logan is a tennis coach and wannabe actor; Paige is their 5yr-old daughter, looked after by Rosa, her nanny who is also seen as a family member.
The story is told from 4 days previous, and moving forward, and the Now.
One Wednesday evening about 9pm Brook returns home to an ominously silent house. She discovers Paige is missing, although her bed had been slept in. Rosa is nowhere to be seen but her mobile is still in the house. In her panic she phones Logan but just gets voicemail - and he's goodness-knows-where. She finds a cellphone on the kitchen counter with a note - We Have Your Daughter; We can See You. Do Not Contact the Police.
When Logan does arrive home he takes charge of the new cellphone and all the instructions from the kidnappers because he says they will only talk to him.
Now - Brook is sitting in a police interview room at 12.30am Monday morning. Detectives Tyrone Giant and Jenna King, along with Brook's attorney, Angie Southby, are there.
- "We have 3 dead bodies, and missing child, and one suspect" - and it is now that Brook starts to tell her story.
The events of the previous 4 days are gradually revealed. They are heart-pounding, callous and shocking, but because of her profession, Brook is able to use her expertise to moderate her responses to the overwhelming situations she has found herself in. She is determined to find her daughter.
Just what did the deaths of her parents have anything to do with what was happening to her now?
Well, that's a mystery that will be solved for as long as you read this enthralling thriller.
Great story, good dialogue, intrigue and mystery, together with an entirely satisfactory ending, leaving no unanswered questions.
A gripping standalone mystery thriller.
I liked the tension and the alternating chapters told from different POVs as this technique adds to the mystery.
Although I predicted some of the revelations, yet the strength of the plot held my attention and I finished it over a couple of days. I also liked the ending as it didn't leave loose ends.
Thanks Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased opinion.
This title made me want to read it. It didn't disappoint, a quick read for the summer while sunning on the beach
A really great and gripping story full of tension. I felt I couldn’t breathe at parts it was so well written. I loved the alternating chapters between characters and felt this was a great way to tell the story xxx
