This felt extremely... manic. That may have been the point? But I found it a difficult read and it seemed very distracted. There were parts of it that were funny, so it gets 2 stars instead of 1 but really don't bother.

I developed a kind of love/hate relationship with this book.
Aimed at the 35/45 target age, it covers various topics, from sex to marriage, from being single to being childless.

Some parts are very funny and hilarious and I found myself smiling whilst reading.
After a third of the book,I started to find it a bit repetitive due to the bullet points and lists and I couldn’t enjoy it to the fullest.

I really wanted to like it,however I struggled to find something I could take away from the book.
The PDF of the ARC format did not help with the reading,it would have worked better as a e-book.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange of a personal and honest review.

If you’ve ever opened The Midult’s weekly newsletter and attracted stares from your fellow commuters because you’re chortling away, you’ll love this. If you enjoy irreverent, knowing writing that never takes itself too seriously, it’s absolutely for you. Witty, cheering and never patronising, this will be given to many people as a gift, and with good reason.

I really wanted to enjoy this book as the concept seemed great but it just seemed a bit confused and even after reading it I’m not sure what this book was meant to be, there was no clear outline of what was being discussed or why. There were some humorous moments but I found myself skimming a lot of parts of the book that I couldn't identify with. I didn’t find the book useful at all but the authors were very honest from the start about it not being a self help book so I guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised.

Sorry guys, it's in a format I can't read on my kindle so am a bit stuck. I think others on here have had the same problem from the other reviews.

This is such a good book. I got part way through and got frustrated by it being a pdf so I purchased the kindle version.

I’ve recommended it to so many people, I recommend it to everyone over a certain age. It’s great. I can’t say any more without spoiling it, but if you are approaching middle age and have a sense of humour, you will love this.

As someone approaching 30 and still wondering where 23 went and wondering why on earth people are looking at me like I know what I’m doing - this was a breath of fresh, hilarious air.
I felt ‘seen’ and understood and felt a type of solidarity with the women who wrote this and who this book is aimed at.

The writing is brilliant. It’s fresh and entertaining and brings up so many things that happen to us and ridiculous thoughts we have.

This is one of those books you read and nod along with whilst laughing and going ‘I do that!’ ‘That’s me!’
This would be a brilliant treat for yourself or a friend, and a great conversation starter 😊

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of I'm Absolutely Fine!: A Manual for Imperfect Women by Annabel Rivkin and Emilie McMeekan. I've voluntarily read and reviewed this copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was very insightful, relatable and hilarious. Even though the target audience is women from 35 to 45 years of age, I still found most parts of it very relatable to a 20-something year old. Especially the different lists were So fun and relatable.

Just a few things that made me feel seen: The Rich Tapestry of Tears, All the Girls We've Been and 10 Childhood Punishments That Are Now Treats.

I'm Absolutely Fine!: A Manual for Imperfect Women makes you feel seen and understood. And answers the question: Is it just me? Nope. It's all of us.

Unfortunately I am unable to download this title for review, as I can only read ebooks on a kindle and this does not have the option to send to kindle.

As a late 20-something about to dive head-first into my 30's, I was keen to stay ahead of the curve so when I had the opportunity to read and review 'I'm Absolutely Fine!' by the authors of the popular The Midulthood blog, I jumped at the chance. However, I was left disappointed.

The book never quite hits the mark. From page-long chapters to random lists and bullet points tossed in carelessly here and there throughout the book, the a-ha moment of Midulthood was never reached. Perhaps that's the point; that there is no true moment of self-actualisation in your midult-life, and that life is just a series of confusing lists, internet memes and random conversation anecdotes from your peers - which is a bit of a shame.

I really wanted to love this, but it just seemed a bit chaotic and some of the writing was grammatically incorrect.
e.g. "Impatience, like jealousy, does nothing for no one" - that's a double negative that should have been pulled up and corrected by the editors. (sigh) I am not exactly their target audience, but I don't think that excuses how confused it left me.

The premise of this book sounds incredible, and I am a huge fan of the Midult site and their Instagram. Unfortunately, this copy was incompatible with my device. Despite getting in touch with the publisher several times, I wasn't able to get a copy I could read. I'm really going to push to read this when it's published.

Can't download onto kindle 😔
It does sound such a promising, humourous book and I will be looking to buy it when it comes out

The founders of the webpage “themidult.com“, journalists and friends, have decided to spread their word also in print. Their look at women in the middle of their adulthood – thanks to experience now a lot more realistic than in their twenties, but also at a point where everyday stress and responsibilities often keep them from doing what they really want to do – is often funny, highly entertaining and most of all simply true. There is no need anymore to embellish anything, life is what it is when you have celebrated your fortieth birthday, yet, things aren’t too bad either.

I was quite astonished when reading the book by the sheer range of topics they address. From the job situation to motherhood, aches here and there and the question of finding the perfect – or at least a fitting partner – at that age, or simply not wanting to find one. All the memories and experiences you gathered, the mistakes you made, those you regret and other you are grateful for, dieting and getting finally rid of society’s dictation of how you have to look. Masses of lists not to be taken too seriously and more than once the realisation that they are talking about you.

It’s not a manual about how to live and what to do. It is much more a kind of inventory control of where women at that age are in life and the message is obvious (since it is already clearly visible in the subtitle): we are imperfect, but that’s ok. Written in a very light-hearted and joyful tone, a book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm not really sure what this book was meant to be but as it was described as "A genius book. So funny, so wise, so cool and above all so USEFUL", I was expecting it to be funny, wise, useful.
It wasn't.
I cannot see how anyone could describe the book as useful, and the few moments of humour or observation that did exist were completely over shadowed by stereotypical snippets about "middle aged women" & peppered with crude language.
I suppose somebody somewhere would find it funny, but certainly not me! I am just grateful that a) I didn't pay for this book & b) it was relatively short so I didn't waste too much time on it ...

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free from NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

A fantastic read- truly thought provoking. A guide for the imperfect women on their journey for some kind of enlightenment. I will pass this on and on again! A must read for all women, young and mature.

Fantastic read, spoke to me in laughter, tinged with a little truth. It helps to know it’s not just me. Not just my friends, but many, many of us. Thank you for letting me read and review.

I absolutely loved parts of this book and could relate to some aspects of it. But with other parts, I found myself eye-rolling and skimming parts of the book that I couldn't identify with. I think that different people will get very different things from this book. My advice is to read to 30% of it and if it doesn't vibe with you, move on.

Unfortunately, the protected PDF was not compatible with any of my devices, so I was unable to read it - which is a shame as it sounded really good! I'm afraid just 3 stars from me, and that's because of it's synopsis!
