Amazing book... couldn't put it down...so many twists and turns!! Quite dark, very raw and probably realistic portrayal of an an alcoholic. My sympathies changed as the story developed and more was revealed about the characters. Well written. Have read and enjoyed many Adele Parks novels and wasn't disappointed with this one. Highly recommend. Unexpected ending... would have liked the story to continue...

Adele Parks is one of my favourite authors and this book does not disappoint. The storyline is interesting and leaves questions to be answered until the final chapters. A great read from a great author.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this gripping book

i am fast becoming a fan of adele parks....she can write a book that grips you and puts you in each scenario and you feel that persons pain anger or grief

in this story we have a group of friends that went uni together and stayed in touch afterwards and how they met married and carried on with life...with all its ups and downs and in between

this story captivates the best and worst in most people, the added twist at the end i felt wasnt needed but on the whole once we got to the crux of the story it is compelling reading

keep an eye out for more of this author, shes a keeper

Really not for me. I found the characters unlikeable and in some cases poorly written, the plot was not very well paced, and the writing varied too much in emphasis - underwritten in some areas, overwritten in others. All in all, just not for me unfortunately, which surprised me as I’m normally a fan of Adele Parks. Maybe it’s the plot? I don’t know, but for me it was a miss.

I've read a few of Adele Parks books before but I don't think any of the others have covered so many topics and emotions as Lies Lies Lies does.

Having looked at other reviews on Goodreads after reading the book, it is clear to see that other readers also found some of the events very dark and also realistic.

Daisy and Sam appear to have it all - good careers, a nice house, a daughter born after years of IVF. However we quickly discover in chapter one that Sam cannot be Millie's dad (when he starts looking into having another baby so that Millie has a sibling) and the lies start to spiral.

I enjoyed the book despite the dark topics covered - this was a book I didn't want to put down. Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Books for a digital ARC in return for an honest review.

'Lies, Lies, Lies', deals with serious contemporary issues, has characters who are hard to empathise with, and yet, it is a compulsive read.

It starts with a lie, and as it infolds the web of lies intensifies. Simon is an alcoholic, he tells so many lies to hide the extent of his addiction. When he stumbles upon an uncomfortable secret, alcohol is his solace, but his lies are less believable and Daisy. his usually forgiving wife is losing patience. Daisy protects her daughter at all costs., increasingly she feels it's Simon she needs to protect her from. His descent into alcoholism is accelerating, and the changes of keeping a secret and their family intact recede.

The first part of the book focuses on Simon's alcoholism, how it affects him, Daisy and Millie their six-year-old daughter. For me this part of the story is hard going, it is authentic and believable, but a little long. The second part of the story is better. Faster paced, the hint that everything isn't quite how it seems. The final part is suspenseful and shocking. The lies fall apart and the truth is finally revealed. The plot twists, are realistic, even though I guessed some, others are not revealed until the very end.

This book is primarily a family drama, an exploration of how addiction can damage family life. Sacrifice, secrets nd suspense all feature in this story, and the menace increases as the final chapters.reveal the truth.

This believable, claustrophobic story for fans of family drama and domestic thrillers,

I received a copy of this book from HQ in return for an honest review.

I’m not one for giving up on a book so I persevered to the end but have made a mental note not to read any more books which focus on domestic abuse as it seems to be the current hot topic and it makes for a depressing read in general.

Lies Lies Lies is all about Daisy and Simon’s marriage and deteriorating relationship. This is mainly because Simon is an alcoholic and Daisy is constantly supportive of Simon no matter how badly he behaves. I just found the pair of them irritating and their friends were not much better. Daisy’s good friend, Connie, wants to co-host an anniversary party with Daisy and Simon as the two couples share their anniversary date, two years apart. Connie and Luke are planning a big event with a cocktail bar. What kind of ‘friend’ pressures a girlfriend into such a party knowing that her husband is a barely functioning alcoholic? Even more so trying to persuade her to do a renewal of vows when their marriage is barely hanging together?

After five years of marriage Daisy and Simon started IVF as they’d been unable to conceive. This didn’t go well but then suddenly Daisy became pregnant with Millie who is now 6 years old. Daisy is very content to have one child but Simon is pressurising her to have another so is pushing to go back to the medics to see if there are any more advances to help their fertility issues. Why Daisy is even considering this when her husband is knocking back copious amounts of alcohol daily is a mystery to me. The whole plot was just exasperating and I was glad to get to the end. There was a bit more action towards the end with some twists but the final twist left me with more questions than answers. Why would she do that and actually I am not sure it is possible.

With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin UK for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this. Full of twists and turns, I loved all the surprises and the layers to Daisy’s story. Adele Parks writes beautifully and I had quite visceral reactions to some of the storylines. A brilliant story, that keeps you guessing right up to the last sentence.

Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks is a gripping contemporary psychological thriller that will have your heart racing as you read.
Adele Parks is a marvellous writer who grabs your attention from the start, manipulates your emotional responses with her words, spins you around and sets you down on the roller coaster that is all lies, lies, lies. See if you can spot who is telling the truth. My jaw opened and dropped so many times in this marvellous thriller.
Lies Lies Lies is the exploration of relationships. Adele Parks shows the lengths some people will go to to protect those they love. We also see what happens when love is warped.
The hand of friendship is extended in some surprising places. Sacrifices are made to protect the exposed.
There are the hard hitting topics of alcoholism and abuse. The former is an addiction that needs love and support to recover from, as well as the will power and desire to recover. The abuse is hard to read.
At the heart of the novel is a beautiful six year old. We see the fiercely protective love of a mother.
Lies Lies Lies was a gripping and at times horrifying read. It consumed my every thought as my emotions ducked and dived throughout. A marvellous novel whose action I could not predict.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Lies, Lies, Lies, we all tell them, don’t we? Those little white ones when we want to get out of doing something, or are late for something, but don't want to reveal the reason why. Perhaps we are planning a surprise for a loved one ... or perhaps we are hiding something more complicated.

For some of us have much bigger secrets, and therefore much bigger lies to tell.

Lies of course, aren't always meant to deceive, and are sometimes told to shield those we love from getting hurt. The trouble with lies is that, you almost always get found out, and usually this brings more pain and hurt than you intended by shielding the truth in the first place.

Meet Simon and Daisy, a happily married couple, with a gorgeous 6 year old daughter Millie.

Daisy is happy with her lot, but Simon believes that they should try for another child to 'complete' their family. A trip to the fertility clinic, is one that Daisy doesn't really want to make, but she loves her husband, so decides to go along with it. To us the reader, this is the start of their happy marriage beginning to deteriorate.

Simon isn't always easy to live with. He is what is probably known as a 'functioning alcoholic', but this novel makes us question whether or not such a thing is even possible. After the trip to the clinic, Simon's drinking becomes steadily worse, but Daisy isn't worried, she knows how to handle it. Even if she doesn't like it.

That is until one night at a party that Daisy doesn't even want to go to. Their perfect lives suddenly spiral out of control and are changed forever, in a way that no one could have foreseen.

Lies Lies Lies is told in alternate points of view, and includes some familiar characters to fans to Adele's earlier novels. Not all that likeable, but all real and relatable, you will care about them, and their fate, whether you believe you should or not.

Regular readers of my blog will know, that I am a huge Adele Parks fan, but even I think she has surpassed herself with this novel. It is nothing short of amazing, and I will be recommending it to everyone!

Daisy and Simon are desperate to have children. The turmoil and stress they have to go through as they undergo tests and fertility treatment is horrendous. Finally they have a dugnter, Millie. But the stress of having her has taken its toll on them and their relationship. Simon has started drinking. They are starting to drift apart. Then a startling revelation at the fertility clinic changes their lives forever.

This is a story with characters who give out mixed emotions. At times I felt sorry for them and other times I was rooting for them all the way. The characters and storyline were true to life. Readers will know or be the people this story is all about. (Hopefully not the ending). Obviously there are a lot of lies around this storyline that got lots of twists. The only person I felt truly sorry for was was Millie. The story is told from Daisy and Simons point of view. I do recommend this book.

I would like to thank NetGalley, HQ and the author Adele Parks for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks for netgalley for the chance to read this book.
This book is all about lies and how they can impact on relationships. Was a good book however I didn’t engage with the characters until I was about halfway through.

Intense!
Adele Parks tells stories with gusto and with a very clever way of almost ‘chatting’ the story to you, in confidence!, the characters talk as if telling you and just you the story, when I went back to the book throughout the few days I was reading it it felt like it had waited for me and then, off it started again
I LOVE this authors writing style and the abundance of words in each chapter, I also love the way although the book was dark there were many rye observations and humour
The story itself is grimly tragic, very involving and covers some uncomfortable topics, got to say though the portrayal of Simon’s alcoholism was genius, never have I understood an addiction so well and how it affects every angle of a life then when reading this AND he was
kept ‘human’, his utter frustration at his situation followed by gay abandon the next was compelling, chilling and moving, Daisy, his wife has some massive issues and suffered major traumas that we find out about throughout the book, these events all lead to lies, many lies and more lies, surprises and nasty shocks that keep on coming, Daisy was at times irritating in her weakness but then when we found out why that part made perfect sense, very cleverly done by the author, I literally had zero clue what was to come
Really its a fabulous read that will at times sicken and anger you and other times endear you but will leave you with a sense of having read a fantastic book
10/10

I always enjoy Adele Parks, and I did this book, although I found the characters slightly annoying and it didn't resonate with me as much as other books I have read recently in a similar genre.

I really enjoyed this book until the final chapters. I thought the portrayal of Simon's alcoholism was so believable and as a book on alcohol abuse is up there with Amanda Prowse's Another Love. I enjoyed how the chapters alternated between the points of view of Simon and Daisy. Some of the book just didn't ring true with me such as Daisy not putting up more of a fight sooner with the 'baddie' at the end. I also found the twist at the end really unconvincing!
My thanks to NetGalley and HQ, Harper Collins Publishers for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review.

An intriguing story for everything that this book touches.
A family with a lovely daughter that tries for a second child. All the hard moments they went through while trying for the first one as well. Depression in all it's forms, from the pre and postnatal one to the punches that life gives us unexpected while doing some routine checks and how we take for granted some things and the easy way we see everything around us if it doesn't touch us personally.
A story about alcohol and domestic abuse and how that affects marriage and future plans. So many turns that will keep you on the edge because this story it's real and touches real-life topics, some very hard to read at times and most of them will make you reconsider your life choices or be more aware of what really happens in other marriages.
Can't recommend this book enough.

thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for my copy

Yet another fabulous book from Adele Parks!! I found myself holding my breath many times!!
The trouble with secrets, are that, they can cause so many problems, which means a friendship, a marriage, can be ruined, all because of the thoughts and situations that go around in your head, you have to start believing them!! All because you are a drunk!!!!!! Situations happen, because you are a drunk, and all around you, your friends & family suffer!!!!
Superb!!!!!!!! Loved it!!!!! Very cleverly written!!!!!

Fabulous twists and turns in this tale told from the alternating perspectives of a couple whose marriage is in deep crisis. Simon’s drinking is a huge problem and when things dramatically unravel, the author cleverly unpicks all the layers of years and years of lies. Really enjoyable.

Wow, I'm actually emotionally drained from this one! What a dark, gripping rollercoaster!

I don't want to give anything away which is hard as I'm bursting to talk to people about the plot! It is centred around Daisy and Simon, with each chapter alternating perspectives.

So many topics are covered, such as infertility   and it is clear that Adele Parks puts a tremendous amount of effort into research. The details really shine through and make every part of the story completely realistic.

This book really affected me, the way I felt about all the characters changed frequently as new information came to life. You judge people based on the information you have or think you have...and then it turns out you made assumptions and got it completely wrong.

I'd definitely recommend this, it will be staying with me for a while.

I've never read an Adele Parks book before. My mum loves Adele Parks and has read many of her books. As someone getting back into reading I thought I'd give this book a go.

The title of the book was intriguing, however I found the story hard going and did not really engage with the characters until almost 3/4 of the way through the book.

I didn't like the violent/abusive character and how they were portrayed acting this way, especially around the child in the story. However, this was dealt with very well and showed how friends will be There to support you once they find out what is happening.

There was a character suffering from alcoholism and the way the author described the impact, not only on their life but also that of the family and friends was really detailed. The other characters included a family who were 'snobby', upper class, well to do types who were lovely but could become quite irritating. Finally, there was a down to earth, girl next door character. She was lovely and supportive to her friend.

All the characters are friends who met at university, had different relationships, some lasted whilst others didn't. They all stayed in contact with each other after they had graduated.

The book covers various emotions and responses to actions by various characters. These emotions include but are not limited to lies, trust, support and forgiveness.

When you love and care for someone, you'll do anything, including 'time'.

I found the end confusing and not sure it would be possible!?!?

I recommend you read this book and make your own decision.
