As always another great book Adele would highly recommend it. Looking forward to your next book. We'll done

I normally like reading Adele Parks' novels. However I found this story a little underwhelming. I found Simon and Daisy's characters were a little dull and couldn't warm to them. The violence in the story didn't seem natural and I found it off putting. Unfortunately I didn't really feel for Daisy although this awful thing had happened to her. I would read Adele Parks again but this wasn't the story for me. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

Lies Lies Lies is the story of Daisy and Simon and their struggle with infertility. The story is told from both the perspective of Daisy and Simon and the events which tear their lives apart. This book has a great storyline with plenty of twists and turns and a stunning conclusion. A story of addiction, secrets and lies which will keep you gripped until the end.

I always enjoy Adele’s books and this one is no exception. Adele tells of live, live, loss, family and relationships in ways which are relatable and meaningful
This book explores Daisy and Simons story. They appear to be a middle class couple with a blessed life which includes their adored daughter Millie. But things aren’t always what they seem. And Simon drinks. A lot. Every day. Openly. Secretly. In company. Alone. Simon drinks
And the impact this has on his family and friends is exposed as the story unfolds
It’s heartbreaking. It’s sad. And it’s happening in homes all over the world

This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

A really engrossing book, which dealt with some very important issues in a very relatable way.. The details of prison life were such a juxtaposition to the middle-class lives of all the main characters, and really made me think about how life can be influenced by background, parents or just bad luck. The main characters were compelling, and the ending was completely satisfactory. I would definitely recommend this book.

This latest book by Adele Parks was interesting, I particularly liked the little prologue and initial chapters. Nothing amazing happened, it was a slow burner and wasn't another psychological thriller which I was glad about. We saw Simon's constant drinking to extreme, slowly take his family down a dark tunnel ending up with Millie, their adored and long awaited for, daughter, ending up in hospital and fighting for her life. This resulted in the gifted and talented dancer that Millie was, having to give up her dream of becoming a ballerina. Simon is sent to prison for three years, not long after he learns that he is actually sterile and unlikely to have fathered Millie. This revelation only serves to deepen his alcoholism. At this point, I'm afraid for me, the book sort of lost it. Simon's long winded prison diary entries were, I'm afraid, quite tedious after a while and probably not quite true to life. I was still interested in Daisy and Millie and how they adjusted to a completely new life.. Unfortunately the prison diaries started to bore me and I scanned my way through numerous pages, continuing on again when he was released. I'm not sure that Daisy, as a teacher, would have succumbed to Darryl's threats, even if she did believe that he was Millie's father. Surely she could have gone to the CAB or a solicitor to find out her position in that scenario or even arranged a paternity test rather than let herself be abused physically and mentally. This all tied up in the end with a hurried conclusion where in depth tests to find Darryl's murderer seem to have evaded the investigative police force. Not Adele's best I'm afraid, but I did enjoy reading it apart from all the prison entries.

Gripping from the start.
Follow the tale of Daisy and Simon as Simon's descent into alcoholism leads them down a rocky path. Introduce a mix of old friends and add a change in dynamics when life takes a turn for the worse.as Daisy and Simon struggle to get pregnant.
Adele has this unique talent for discussing friendships, dynamics, relationships and making you stop in your tracks and start to assess what's right and wrong and how you can judge a situation and just get it so wrong.
5 Stars again Adele

I loved this book. A group of friends from university have their lives thrown into turmoil years later by one little lie - with disastrous consequences but firm friendships and true love remain steadfast throughout. It is, by turn, intriguing, exciting and explosive.

What I loved most about this book is that every character is flawed in some way. We are not presented with a hero protagonist who is perfect and therefore one dimensional and unrelatable. Instead there is much to discuss and consider with each character and it is left up to the reader to decide what to make of each character's actions and motivations and I really liked this aspect. The book tackles a lot of big topics including alcoholism, fertility struggles and others which I won't mention to avoid spoilers. These issues were well researched and excellently presented in the story. A rich, gripping family drama with thriller elements, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think it would be a brilliant book club read.

Wow, wow, wow! There are some books that you can just leave be but I literally made time to read this little gem. The action is fast paced with a nugget of suspense and delicious twists for the protagonist and the character Simon. There is a great identification in people dealing with alcohol abuse and a prisoners life. Daisy and Simon are thrown so many challenges in their relationship that you simply want to turn each page to see what happens next. Loved this and will seek out all of Adele’s titles that I have missed along the way.

The first 1/3rd of the book details a man's descent into alcoholism and the tragic impact on his family. At first, I wasn't sure who I was meant to be sympathising but when the direction of the story suddenly became clear, I was addicted. The Lies of the title are deep and plentiful. Emotional and engrossing. Well written and full of twists and turns. Just when you think there are no surprises left......
I'd like to thank the author, publishers and netgalley for this advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. Highly recommended,

Up to the usual Adele Parks standard, absolutely brilliant. The reader is never quite sure where the story is leading as there are so many twists and turns. The characters, even those that are annoying, are utterly believable and can be related to. Many secrets and, as the title suggests, lies and how they can devastate families and friends. With many traumas, the reader is kept enthralled and so it makes a compelling read which is hard to put down.

Absolutely brilliant. The book is full of Twists and turns and shows exactly what lying does to a family. There are many important characters whose personality evolves as the book develops. Could not put this one down!

I always buy the latest Adele Parks book and am never disappointed. This book was absolutely no exception - it was full of lies, as the title implies, as well as twists and surprises all the way through.
I do enjoy a ‘domestic’ type of drama and this was certainly that with an excellently written account of the main couple’s marriage problems due to the husband’s alcoholism. Unexpected surprises pop up just when you think you know what is happening and characters reveal sides you just don’t expect!
A definite recommendation.

Oh my. This book gripped me from the very beginning. Just as you thought the story had levelled out something else happened to make you take stock. Lots of unexpected twists and turns. A brilliant book.

Wow where do I start? .... Deep breath!!! This book is like a runaway train with its many twists and turns, ups and downs, not knowing where it’s final destination will be and as exhilarating as a runaway train!!
This book should come with a warning ‘ Totally Addictive - clear you’re diary before commencing” I read this in one day and absolutely LOVED it!!
Simon and Daisy seem like a happy couple with their daughter Millie. They had tried to conceive for several years and she is very special to them. Simon has always loved a drink but now his drinking has spiralled out of control which leads to a dangerous accident.
What is there not to like about this book? There are secrets galore and you never know what will happen next, which keeps you guessing until the end.
Finished this and had to take a minute to take in the ending. My head is spinning!!
Will definitely be on the look out for Adele Parks next book with bated breath. This is my first but definitely not the last I will read of hers.
A massive 10 out of 10 with 5 stars for this amazing story. You may have guessed I liked this book!!!

This is a story about families and friendship - and addiction. The effect of the addiction is profound and the outcome is punished with a prison sentence. The story concentrates on the period as the prison sentence comes to an end and the prisoner has to rejoin the outside world and the effect of this on the social circle that was left behind.
The main character seems a little panicked by the prospect and her response to it is unusual. I found her reasoning rather random and there is a strange tendency to rush into decisions without consulting her apparently supportive friendship group.
There is a strong theme around managing addiction in the family which feels pertinent to today.
The story progresses via many flashbacks which explain the previous events as the book progresses.
The major twist is revealed unexpectedly in a conversation which takes place in the prison - leaving the reader very surprised.
I can recommend this book

Great book , I was really impressed with the writing style and storyline. Never read any of her books before but I will be looking for more in the future. I loved the characters , less so Simon the alcoholic. Accurate description of an alcoholic though speaking from past experience of an ex. All round brilliant book , we’ll worth reading

‘Lies Lies Lies’ focuses on some serious and important subjects: the desperation felt by infertile couples; the destruction caused by alcoholism; domestic abuse; the horror of incarceration. And Adele Parks is successful in her exploration of all these miserable circumstances through her brave and uncompromising storytelling.
Why is it then that I have only given this novel three stars? Perhaps because the central character, Daisy, is under-developed. I couldn’t appreciate exactly why it is that Simon, her husband, is utterly devoted to her. For much of the novel she is very passive, lacks any ambition, is judgemental and uncompromising when she needn’t be whilst, at the same time, is not strong enough to tackle her husband Simon head-on about his drinking problems. Her devoted sister and girlfriends are all feisty, funny, caring and loyal. It’s not as if Parks can’t write about women; it’s just that she has found it difficult to portray an introvert with any real conviction.
Simon, on the other hand, is far more plausible. Parks’ depiction of his destructive descent into alcoholism is chilling. Everyone he knows and everything that he does is damaged by his relationship with the bottle. From this perspective, ‘Lies Lies Lies’ is a salutary read, reminding us all that social drinking can so easily become very unsociable.
The author is clearly skilled in the art of plotting. Throughout the novel, just when the reader thinks that all is clear, another possibility emerges and the narrative changes direction. However, that said, the ending felt contrived – a plot decision to shock and surprise the reader rather than information which reinforces character or theme. The final pages feel merely sensational in contrast to the earlier carefully crafted prison scenes or the compellingly written despair of the domestically abused woman.
My thanks to NetGalley and HQ, Harper Collins Publishers for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review.
