I really enjoyed this. One of my favourites from Adele Parks. A total rollercoaster of a story which kept me awake turning the pages until well past my bedtime!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was brilliantly written. Adele Parks had the ability to grab you from the start of a book right to the end.

Great story, keeping you hooked in to what has happened with this. You spend a lot of time hating Simon, but is it justified....

So I was going to DNF this book at 63% but after reading other reviews I went back to it a few days later. I really wish I hadn't. Skim-reading the rest left me feeling very uncomfortable and I did not like any of the characters at any point.

The story is about a couple who struggled to have their first child whilst other problems in the marriage begin to overwhelm them. A lot of the book seems to just repeat the same lines and themes continuously but the actual story takes a long time to get going. By that point I was bored of all the people in it and it did not feel like there was any plot to follow. They are not likeable and their actions throughout simply made me despair.

Daisy and Simon appear to have the prefect life with the perfect little girl. Simon wants to add to their brood but Daisy is not so sure. Getting pregnant the first time around was hard enough and she is not sure that she can go through that again. Surely, they should be happy with what they have?

One night everything falls apart. A terrible accident destroys their world. But everything is not as clear cut as we are lead to believe.

I loved this book and don't want to give away any spoilers but the web of lies that their life is build on begins to unravel and long held secrets are revealed.

I loved and hated all of the characters in this book. One minute I would be sympathising with them and the next I would be almost shouting at them, "well what did you expect?"

I would highly recommend this book just make sure you have a good chunk of time to sit down and enjoy it as guaranteed you won't want to put it down.

Wow, the title should have given me a hint but I wasn't prepared for quite so many lies. How Adele Parks managed to keep this storyline straight is beyond me, but manage it she did. The result is a plot with many twists and turns so you begin to wonder if the story will somehow end up going full circle. I highly recommend this as a read for those who hate it when they can guess the ending, this one is quite unpredictable.

Adele Parks just gets better and better. Lies Lies Lies is not an easy read and does contain scenes of sexual violence, coercive control and violence, which may be triggering for some readers. But it is a brilliant portrayal of the damage lies and secrets do to a marriage.

Daisy and Simon are in a marriage that is filled with shame and lies. Simon is an alcoholic and descends further and further into his addiction. Alcohol has been his go to whenever he needs to feel oblivion, but upon receiving devastating news which means his daughter, in all probability, isn't his, his addiction becomes all consuming. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but after another night of alcohol consumption, he ends up being arrested and imprisoned.

Daisy is struggling to hold herself together, and when a former acquaintance reappears in her life, she finds herself in a situation that she can see no way out of, except to do a flit and never return. This plan is thwarted in the most shocking of ways and I did have to put the book down for a minute! But ultimately there is a very satisfying end to Daisy and Simon's story, it's not a soppy, romantic ending but a heartfelt and an air punch one. Absolutely captivating reading once again from this amazing author.

So many layers and twists, this was so much fun to read. I really enjoyedvthe fact that this didn't follow the expected path, andcthe characters were all really well developed. Nice and dark, a definite recommend.

Simon’s increasing reliance on alcohol will have more repercussions than he can ever imagine.

Oh my goodness! What clever storytelling from Adele Parks. There’s a gradual and escalating build up of events around Simon’s alcohol dependency that initially feels very measured and controlled and then just when the reader is lulled into thinking they have the measure of Lies, Lies, Lies Adele Parks delivers a punch that leaves them reeling and she doesn’t let up. I was ensnared and engrossed throughout.

There’s quite a cast of characters in Lies, Lies, Lies who all represent a fascinating microcosm of middle class society. I utterly abhorred Simon and felt guilty that I didn’t feel more empathy for his problems and then I fell in love with him and felt guiltier still. Never mind an author making their characters have strong reactions - Adele Parks causes equally profound feelings in her readers too. Unlike Simon, Daisy, however, held my sympathy throughout. I didn’t always agree with her behaviour so that she frustrated me, infuriated ma and at times appalled me, but I always wanted her to triumph.

I loved the themes in Lies Lies Lies. Adele Parks understands completely and conveys so convincingly how precarious life can be. Her picture of addictive or controlling behaviour, her illustration of prison life and her exploration of love, obsession and, of course, deceit are all pitch perfect. Lies come in all forms in this novel and the fine line between adhering to the truth with perhaps an occasional white lie, and the gradual insidious and perverting build up of greater untruths feels terrifyingly accurate. So many layers add interest and depth and it’s obvious the author comprehends fully how we can make irrational and even harmful choices in our lives.

Lies Lies Lies is a superb story. Character driven, it compels the reader into a world where they don’t want to be because some of the action is so emotionally disturbing, but that they are unable to leave until they have devoured every word. I thought it was a cracking read.

On the surface Daisy and Simon have it all but not everything is as it seems.  Simon and Daisy have secrets and when things begin to spiral, their marriage unravels in a spectacular way.

Lies Lies Lies is one of those novels that is difficult to review in depth because anything I say about the plot or characters will pretty much be classed as a spoiler.  The biggest advice I can give you is to just read it!  You won't be disappointed!

From the very beginning I couldn't put this down.  Once the story began to unfold it just continued util the very end with surprises in every chapter. The more I read, the more I changed my opinions and thoughts about each character.  Just when I thought I knew which side I was on and that I knew the truth, BAM! Something else was revealed that sent my mind spiraling into indecision again.

This novel confronts a variety of genuine issues experienced by many families and I found it incredibly thought provoking - an exercise in judgement and choices.

This is a superb thriller for fans of domestic psychology with added suspense and twists.

More than just 3 lies, lots of characters which slowly evolved as the story progressed, a sad tale. With lots of undercurrents. Not my favourite read of Adele Parks but not her best.

Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks
This book is believable and deals with a problem which is at the heart of many families, alcoholism. The story is tragic and claustrophobic and although the characters are not sympathetic you are keen to discover how things develop for them.
The first section of the book focuses on Simon’s alcoholism and the impact that it has on his wife and their six year old daughter. This section is a hard read especially for anyone who has been impacted by the spectre of alcoholism. The second section reveals that things in this family may not be quite as they seem and there are some very interesting twists in the plot not all of which I was able to predict.
Many thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is a great psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first few pages.
Daisy struggles to cope with Simon’s alcoholism on a daily basis but when it starts to get worse, she’s close to breaking point.
They’re invited to a friend’s party and what happens that night changes their lives.
As the story progresses we learn of different lies that both Daisy and Simon have been hiding, and the author just slips in a revelation when you least expect it.
This book is totally addictive as it pulls you in as more and more is revealed.
If you like a good psychological thriller then you’ll love this book.
Thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I’ve reviewed Adele Parks a few times on here before and unlike other writers she always seems to go for something a bit different. A bit quirky and unexpected.

This is a story of a family, a life lived with secrets. Daisy is married to Simon. He is an unacknowledged alcoholic and when sober he tries to do the best that he can for his family. The best thing that ever happened to them was the birth of their daughter Millie.

When Simon pushes Daisy to try for another child they end up in the office of a fertility specialist. Taking Simon to one side he assures him that with the quality of his sperm they could never have a child naturally. They would have to consider a donor. Simon knows straight away that Millie isn’t his daughter. That Daisy has lied to him.

Ultimately the combination of secrets and alcohol start to tear the family apart but you are never entirely sure who is lying and about what right up until the final few pages.

This book was so not what I expected. Started off thinking it was women’s fiction, then it turned into something else entirely.

It is an X-ray into a marriage with a functional alcoholic, showing both sides as the cracks start to appear. It’s a story of embarrassment, friendships, secrets and lies. So many secrets I found myself shouting at Daisy to open up and tell her friends and Simon oh why didn’t you talk to Daisy? So much pain could have been avoided.

The characters are so varied and vivid I felt I was among friends I had known for years. Connie and Luke are the main friends in the story but I confess I held a soft spot for Lucy. I do love an outsider and black sheep are the ones I always seek out (far more interesting).

I’m not going to go into the plot as this is definitely a book where the less you know the better. Then you can have the same enjoyment I had with each little surprise (and there are many).

This would make a fantastic book club read as there is so many discussion points throughout and the author has kindly added some at the end.

Adele Parks is another established author who has made the move from chick-lit/romcom type reads to the hugely popular domestic noir genre. Her latest book Lies Lies Lies grabs the reader by the throat and takes them on a rollercoaster ride of addiction, deception and revenge.

We first meet Simon and Daisy Barnes in the waiting room of an infertility clinic. They have struggled to conceive a sibling for their six year old daughter Millie. Due to a breakdown in childcare they have had to take Millie with them to the clinic and, not wanting to leave her alone in the waiting room or have her overhear their intimate secrets, they take it in turns to speak to the doctor while one of them waits outside with their daughter. When it’s Simon’s turn the doctor drops a bit of a clanger which plants some serious doubts in Simon’s mind and sends him off on a very self-destructive path.

Simon had been a ‘functioning’ alcoholic for most of their marriage, but this latest catastrophe tips him over the edge. I thought the portrayal of Simon’s addition and the effects it has on Daisy and even Millie, who has become sadly aware of her father’s secretive and embarrassing behaviour, was very astute and moving. It culminates one night in a terrible and shocking accident which tears the family apart seemingly forever.

This is one of those books where you’re frantically turning the pages one minute to keep up with the breakneck pace of the storyline, and almost throwing the book/your kindle at the wall the next as the events become ever more far fetched and unbelievable (but still, you can’t stop reading!). I found Simon and Daisy to be convincing and sympathetic characters, but some of the supporting cast felt a little two dimensional, particularly the pantomime villain Daisy became involved with when her marriage broke down. Overall though it’s a good page-turner, not a light read in terms of content but for the most part I was gripped.

Characters with realistic flaws are always refreshing aren’t they? And that’s exactly what Adele Parks achieves in this book – believable characters. I’ve read a good handful of Adele Parks publications and although they’re all brilliant they do get better as time goes on. This is a cracker of a psychological thriller made even better when there are lies to the reader as well as to other characters in the book. Adele Parks makes you feel the indignation when secrets are revealed that you, as the reader, feel you should have been made aware of already.

What makes a good thriller? The drama definitely, but also the addition of humour into an otherwise dark text. Adele Parks is the master of this – subtly injecting a bit of fun or a laugh throughout keeps the book interesting, realistic and fun. You will be sickened, frustrated, angry, relieved and so much more whilst you are on the journey of reading this book.

I liked this book enough to keep reading, but I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t like the characters. I think Daisy was a very weak character and didn’t like the way Daryll was written. I found myself getting annoyed at Daisy on many occasions. I didn’t like the storyline and found it very uneventful. It was also very predictable with no shocking twist. The ending was very unrealistic and really disappointed me. I do like Adele Parks’ writing, even though I may not enjoy her books. However I do find them quick reads. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this one.

Lies, Lies, Lies is an incredibly tense story about Daisy and Simon's life together. On the surface, in the beginning at least, they seem like the perfect family. But Simon has a drinking problem and Daisy hasn't always been truthful. So when the unthinkable happens, can their marriage survive? Will there be forgiveness and at last, honesty?

Things start to unravel and the story gets dark and really gripping. It's a difficult read in places but so, so good! The supporting characters are just superb and add great depth and insight. I grew to really respect Lucy in particular.

I got really confused in the last 30 or so pages with something that I had to unpick and talk through with someone else who'd read the book but once we'd done that and come to the same conclusion, we realised just how twisty and intricately woven the story really is. It actually completely absorbed me!

This book is absolutely bloody brilliant! So suspenseful, emotional, gripping and just utterly addictive. Adele Parks has outdone herself with Lies Lies Lies!

Where to start. Secrets and lies just continue throughout this book. The characters are extremely relatable, but their ability to not communicate was infuriating at times. The particularly found the descriptions of both alcoholism and prison life to be intriguing and found that it added some real depth to the story. All in all a gripping read.
