Kamakura Monogatari has an interesting plot and an even more interesting art, the oddest one I have find so far in a manga. For a first volume book, this one was just a nice layout on the characters. We don't really "see" much, only get a taste of what there is to come. Masakazu marries his much younger bride, Akiko, who moves to Kamakura to be with him. Their married life isn't that quiet however, as Kamakura is full of mysteries that the couple like to explore. Overall, it was nice, but it was disappointing that it was only 25 pages long.

My review is based on the first chapter given as an arc from Netgalley.
The setting is just been described and we are introduced to our characters Akiko and Masakazu Isshiki the mystery writer, how they first met and their relationship in Kamakura. But a series of mysterious events see's them face some real challenges where sleuthing is called for.
A romantic mystery and different but enjoyable tale.
The art work is quirky, I liked it and it told the tale well.
I would certainly like to read the rest of this and will edit the review accordingly.
My thanks go to the publisher, author, artist and Netgalley in providing me with this arc in return for a honest review.
It is actually a nice artwork. Unfortunately it is only the first chapter. So I can not decide it if the overall story is interesting or not,
'Kamakura Monogatari #1' with art and story by Ryohei Saigan is the first issue of a series that became an animated movie in 2017.
Akiko is now married to mystery writer Kamakura Monogatari. This tells the story of the town Akiko now lives in and how she came to be married to Kamakura Monogatari.
The description talks about mysterious events, but this issue is just the setup to introduce characters and setting. It's pleasant enough, but in 25 pages, it didn't compel me yet. The art is an odd angular style that wasn't my favorite, but is unusual and distinct.
I received a review copy of this manga from Futabasha Publisher LTD. and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this manga.
This looks very interesting but unfortunately the arc does not load fully on my device. The bottom of each page is cut off. My star rating is simply because I need to give a star rating as part of my review
