*WARNING* Cliff Hanger Alert!!!!!!!!!!
That being said I could NOT put this book down. This is only my second book by K. Bromber, and I'm starting to wonder why I haven't devoured her library of books yet! Resist starts out with the ball busting Vee who runs an escort service. When she needs to make a last minute decision about a client, she ends up meeting Ryker and things spiral out of control from there. Both of their worlds are turned upside down. Throw in some past trauma, a special needs niece, and a real piece of work Senator, and you have Resist! I can not wait until Wicked Ways II, I need answers people!

I was given an ARC copy of this book in return for my honest review from Netgalley.

Gosh! I can't  think, I can't even cry. The end was...holy hell I haven't had such a hangover in a very long time. And let me tell you the second book can't come soon enough. That Is For Sure.

Both main characters are strong personalities knowing their wants, needs and expectations. What they didn't know was they could fall in love. Or was it just a pretence?

Vaughn Sanders wasn't aware of the extensity her past's shaped her. The struggle, trust issues, the protectivness of her niece Lucy after her sister's suicide. She wants to gain the guardianship for Lucy while trying to make fast and enough money to get there. She runs an escort company for the rich and famous. She meets Ryker Lockhart, one of the clients, instead of one of her girls. Sparks flying through the air, hotness pure... you can get the image. They are like made for each other but they both are not commitment persons. He as a divorce lawyer serving only men is not one to be in relationship, she needs to sort her life first.

I loved everything about this first instalment in the series. The story was page turner all the way, keeping you excited for more, book you absolutely can't put down. Believe me it was that good.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to read and review. While I don't like an unsuspected cliffhanger in a book, I enjoyed reading Resist. Vaughn was a strong but easy to sympathise with character. I'm hoping that Ryker has some redeeming when the next book comes out, because I didn't really like him.
All in all, it was a good read and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I've read a few of this author's books and they tend to be a bit of a hit or miss for me! I was intrigued by this book though because of the cover! It's very hot and drew me to the book! I then signed up for the blog tour and received an ARC! After reading this book, I can say that I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to! I sort of had my own idea as to what could happen in the plot, but the author did a fantastic job with it and it kept me intrigued all the way through! It also developed at the perfect pace and kept me wanting to read on! There were a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters too! The plot also had two strong characters in it and they did battle against each other to get what they wanted! I loved where the author ended this book too! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Vaughn was the main female character, and in this book she was a busy woman and ran her own business and worked a fulltime job! Vaughn had her reasons for doing all the work she did and I admired her a lot once I found out her background! It showed Vaughn's strength and determination! Vaughn was also a strong character that knew how to get what she wanted, but she also showed a vulnerable side to her as well! Ryker was the main male character and love interest of Vaughn! I felt like I got to know more about Ryker as the plot progressed! He did come across as a bit of an ass at the beginning and then redeemed himself for me and then became a complete ass again at the end! I really hope that he was only saying those things to protect Vaughn, but I guess I'll have to wait to find out lol! Ryker was always surrounded by wealth too and this did mean that he was used to getting what he wanted! Vaughn changed things for him and challenged him! I loved that this book was written from both Vaughn and Ryker's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be because the synopsis gives the impression that it's only going to be written from the female character's point of view, so I'm really happy that it was written from dual point of view! It helped me connect and understand Vaughn and Ryker more and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as the main characters didn't spend every minute of the plot together and were going through their own situations! I now can't wait to read the next book in this duet! This book was left at a huge cliff-hanger, which I was expecting in a way because I knew that there was going to be a second book! I wasn't expecting the cliff-hanger to be what it was, but it's left me desperate for the next book! The next book doesn't release until September, which is a little bit of a wait, but I'll definitely be reading it as soon as it releases! The cover for this book is also seriously hot! It drew me to the book and made me check out the synopsis! The cover image also suits the chemistry between Vaughn and Ryker and I love it a lot!

K. Bromberg pulled out all the aces from the sleeves and created Resist- incredibly intriguing and fascinating story that completely draws you in! This book is full of secrets, passion, lust and powerplay. All of that combined with amazing characters, unexpected twists and turns, and we have another story from this author, that’s simply unputdownable!

Waitress by day, Madam at night. Unfortunate and tragic circumstances forced Vaugh to open an unusual business to start earning big money in a short time. That's how Wicked Ways was born- a place where rich men can hire a female company for business events and then to warm their beds. But one day, one of the clients goes a step too far and the situation ends with the fact that Vaugh must take her employee's place at a meeting with a new client- a well-known and successful divorce attorney Ryker Lockhart. Although Vaugh pretends to be someone else at the meeting, she attracts the attention of a handsome lawyer, and although the night has ended with a total fiasco, Ryker is determined to discover all of Vaughn’s secrets, even if he has to resort to blackmail. Only none of them expected that every secret discovered and every moment spent together would make mutual fascination and admiration only increase.

This story is an extreme battle of personalities. Both Vaugh and Ryker are strong characters that don’t give up and that’s why there were constant banters between them. Ryker is used to get his way. He’s rich, handsome, successful. He’s also determined, set in his ways and he has trust issues. He can be a total asshole, but he can also make you swoon.

Vaugh has two different sides to her personality. On the one hand she’s a strong, intelligent and confident buisnesswoman and on the other she’s just a vulnerable girl who wants what best for her loved ones. But both sides make her strong and resilient person, who’s determined to reach her goal, no matter what.

You can sense their instant attraction, the chemistry that’s brewing and is charging everything around with its intensity. Their intimate moments were steamy hot and super sexy. And just when there was more to them than physical pull and simple curiosity, when I thought that happily ever after was nearby- SURPRISE!- K. Bromberg threw a bucket of water on me.

I recommend this read with all my heart! Yes, it ends with a cruel cliffhanger, but the story is so brilliant that it can be overlooked. I couldn’t put this book down even for a moment and I can’t wait for Reveal! I’m super curious what awaits for me in the following part!

In a world full of women, Vaughn doesn’t play the game the same way most women do. She has her own agenda one that she prefers to keep private. That is until a high profile divorce lawyer becomes her next client.

High powered men seek companionship from Wicked Ways, a professional escort service. Vaughn is the madame of Wicked Ways. Ryker is the new client.

Overall:
Kim Bromberg is the bestselling author of the Driven series, however I have yet to find another series as good as that one. Sadly, no other books compare to the writing style or character connection of those books. I keep hoping to get that same feeling of angst, but it hasn’t happened. When I see K. Bromberg’s name on a book I’m quick to add it to my want to read list. I wish I can say that every book I’ve read since the Driven series has been as fulfilling as those, but that would be incorrect.

I really wanted to like this story. I knew there was more to offer than an escort offering companionship to high profile men, yet Vaughn’s little secret didn’t warrant the excitement I had hoped to draw me in.

I couldn’t sit back and relax with this storyline there was too much hostility. The cruel, mean, and uncalled for words against Vaughn made this a tense read. Throw in the jealousy and blackmail and I’m tight as a board. The entire situation was toxic when it could’ve been a sexy and exciting read.

Holy cliffhanger! This one completely threw me for a loop and I am desperate to get my hands on the next book! Ryker and Vaughn’s story started out a bit slow for me and I times I did get a bit tired of the back and forth, but the last half of the book was so insanely good that I don’t even care. I am such a big fan of K. Bromberg and how she effortlessly weaves steam and whit and romance together to blend the perfect contemporary romance. This book was no exception. I also loved the cameo by a hero from one of her previous series and the little homage she paid to Rylee & Hattie with the “one for luck and one for courage” saying before taking shots. Contemporary Romance fans who love hot, swoon-worthy alpha heroes and strong, feisty, badass women, will LOVE Resist!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to read and review the first installment of the Wicked Ways series and did it ever deliver. I loved the characters, Ryker and Vaughn, two people who are independent and strong-willed find their way towards each other in an unconventional way.

Both are fighting the chemistry that is undeniable, and the tension is off the charts.

Vaughn has a goal with a purpose and time is not on her side. She runs a successful business and she is laser focus on elevating her operations. Ryker becomes a client and she finds herself uncomfortable with his assertiveness and intensity. Vaughn sees Ryker as a distraction and tries to dissuade him from pursuing her, but he is finding her to be a challenge that he wants to chase.

He is discovering in his pursuit that Vaughn has secrets which draw him further into her orbit. There are also forces around them that want them apart which only heightens the tension between them.

This story has a cliffhanger and it is a biggie!!! I cannot wait for next installment to see how this unravels.

Another sexy, emotional read from K. Bromberg! What can I say other than ahhhh! Why do you do this to me??? Ryker is just everything and he just did it for me. This book just did it for me. I love and hate cliffhangers all at once. Why oh why do you do this to me?? Can not wait until book 2.

Vaughn's story and life is anything but easy. She is determined to win the battle in her life and Ryker is only a complication. Ryker loves his life and doesn't want any complications either. But that all changes when he meets Vaughn and she turns his world upside down.

There are clues that will explain about Vaughn's past and it doesn't take much to figure it out. I like that while I knew what happened, I like that Bromberg took time getting the two main characters to get together. My favorite kind of love stories or romance books are ones that are realistic, as if they could really happen.

Ryker is a jerk at times and sometimes I don't know if I want to like him, but then he does this real big swoon worthy thing and I am a puddle. Bromberg has me on the ropes so we will see where it goes from here.

That ending. Wtf. I have so many questions and I need answers now. If I were you, don't read this book if you don't have access to the second book. You will thank me!

Vaughn Sanders is straddling two worlds. In one, she’s the mysterious Vee, the madam. In the other She’s just plain ole’ Vaughn, struggling waitress just trying to pay down debt so she can gain custody of her special needs niece. She only has to keep the “madam” side of her life going until her debt is paid and if she wants any chance of getting her niece, she must keep the two separate. So far, it’s been easy, exhausting, but easy. Until Ryker Lockhart enters her world. He’s a client. A client for one of her girls, not for her; she doesn’t do that part of the business. An unexpected turn of events finds her being the one sent to entertain Mr. Lockhart in and out of his bed, but Ryker’s suddenly interested in more than what the contract calls for.
Ryker Lockhart is a busy man. He’s a high-powered divorce attorney and between his clients and his always a bride on the brink of divorce mother, he knows the nastier side of marriage and intends to stay as far away from it as possible. Long term relationships aren’t for him. When he higher Wicked Ways to provide him the perfect companion he encounters Saxony. Ryker knows immediately that Saxony is not what he ordered and ends up sending her away. A twisted turn of events leads Ryker to discover that Saxony is Vaughn, the waitress, at an exclusive club. But there’s still something about Saxony/Vaughn and Vee, they mysterious madam he’s never met, that doesn’t add up and has him intrigued. Once the mysterious is solved Saxony/Vee/Vaughn has been solved the two begin to spend more and more time together.
Okay, I was sucked into this book. Reading the synopsis, I was intrigued but no way did I think I would like this book so much. I loved these two. The chemistry was there, the wit was there. I never expected Ryker to turn into this “relationship guy”, but there he was. Vaughn wasn’t this weak damsel in distress. She was sassy, and she gave as good as she got. She and Ryker were definitely involved in a power struggle. Eventually, Vaughn let her guard down, she opened-up, she loosened up. The two of them were spending time together, laughing together, getting to know each other, falling in love…and then it happened. What happened you ask? Well hell if I know! (Hands thrown up in the air) One minute they’re the perfect couple and the next minute hearts are broken. That’s all you get, because that’s where it ends. A discovery that shocks one of the characters to their core (and I’m not telling you who). In case you haven’t figured it out...this is a cliff-hanger!!! Now it all makes sense. As I was reading, I was looking at the percentage and it was getting closer and closer to the end, so I just think to myself “okay, this is going to be one of those no real angst and shit happens but they work through it and all the pieces just fall into place type of stories; and that’s cool because sometimes you just need a story like that. Well, this ain’t that story. Anyone who knows me knows the one thing I hate…cliffhangers, they give me anxiety. So, I did my research and the next book, Reveal, looks to be releasing sometime in late summer/early fall.
I’ve been hearing about K. Bromberg for a very long time and decided to finally give her a try, but let me tell you lady, if this is how you’re going to treat me, I don’t know if we can be friends. Not unless I have all the books in front of me to read back to back. Now I’ll have to stalk you and you’ve got no one to blame but yourself; this is all on you. Looking at you with a side-eye from now on missy. SIDE-FREAKING-EYE! Guess I’ll just sit here with my neurotic self and imagine would could happen.
Aside from that, AWESOME READ; just wait closer to September to read it.

Resist by K. Bromberg a five-star read you won’t want to resist. This is the first novel in the Wicked Ways series, and I need number two now, the writing is just that good. This hooks you in and doesn’t let go even after the last page, Vaughn ad Ryker will astound you, they are both such strong characters but they are also flawed and show us that just because you want life to be sunshine and rainbows doesn’t mean that it will be. I was excited to read this novel as I had heard such good things about K. Bromberg I needed to check out the writing and I am so excited that I did as I have just found another fave author to add to my list.

Another fantastic book by K. Bromberg. This is part one of the Wicked Ways Duet, so as expected there is sort of a cliffhanger. Vaughn is a women who is doing what she has to do to pay down her debt so she can get custody of her niece Lucy. She is not trusting and on her own. She meets Ryker and they have chemistry but he is not a relationship guy, being he is a divorce attorney. This is the story of how he peruses her and they both start letting there guard down, but there are a lot of outside forces against them. I can’t wait for the conclusion in Reveal!

You did it again Mrs. Bromberg! That ending! Luckily I've read your cliffhangers before and now I just want the next book in my hands because it's going to be great. Vaughn and Ryker don't have a typical meet-cute, but it's perfect for them. I REALLY need to read Reveal right now so I can know WHY! I'm officially hooked and so glad I was granted the privilege of reading an advanced reader copy to share with romance readers that everyone shpuld pick up Resist the day it's released and read Driven while they wait for Reveal. Love the Colton cameo too.

4.5 IRRESISTIBLE STARS

"She's like goddamn lightning - that's what she is. She strikes without warning and it's going to singe every damn part of me no matter what kind of shelter I try to hide under."

Thank You, Kristy, for giving me an irRESISTible Alpha Male. I forgot how much I enjoyed them. This book has that real gritty, sexy vibe and it's hot as hell. Vaughn is a madam of an escort service, fun right? She's fierce, sassy, and independent. I love that she can hold her ground when it comes to Ryker trust me, he's hard to resist. I'm not sure what I was more attracted to their banter or their chemistry. They do both really well. This story was so intriguing, I read it in one sitting. When I got to the end, I was cursing because I didn't prolong that CLIFFHANGER. I'll be here not so patiently waiting for September.

ENDURE. WITHSTAND. STRENGTH. PERSIST. HOPE.

I really enjoyed this book! It’s a great story with lots of suspense. The author created a story line that juggled so many elements in the air that could drop at any moment crushing Vaughn’s hopes and dreams, I was completely on edge trying to anticipate and prepare myself for the blow I knew was coming, but not sure which ball would drop.
I found myself really liking both Vaughn and Ryker. The author did a fantastic job depicting the evolution of their relationship. Both characters find themselves in a rare position of caring for another. Putting them both at a level of vulnerability neither ever allow, yet refuse to give up because they’ve come to realize the rarity of what they’ve found. The desire is strong and the steam is HOT!!

Vaughn has endured a difficult life with devastating events that she refuses to let destroy her. Everything she does is for Lucy, so she can give her the life and love she deserves. Vaughn’s strength, compassion, and conviction made me love her all the more.

Vaughn met her match in Ryker. He doesn’t take no for an answer. No matter how well she’s hidden who she really is, Ryker’s determined to break those walls and find the real Vaughn, heart and soul.

“I expected indifference. What I got was anticipation.”

But just when things are finally as they should be, it all comes crashing down leaving us with a cliff hanger. OMG!! I’m on edge waiting for part two!! I thoroughly enjoyed and was enthralled with this book!! Looking forward to the next installment.

4.5 Star review of Resist (Wicked Ways #1) by K Bromberg
Whenever I see the name Kristy Bromberg I know I am in for a great read and Resist was no exception. However firstly be prepared this is a duet so you need to know that going in and be prepared.
From the first to the last chapter, I was riveted to the story that Ms. Bromberg wove. I loved the characters of Ryker Lockhart and Vaughn Sanders. Vaughn will do what ever she has to to look after her family and pay off her debits, she is feisty and I really liked her; Ryker at the end of the story I did not like.
This is an emotional and intense story that ends in one heck of a cliff hanger. As I have come to expect from her books, this author has delivered strong characters written with depth and an ending that will leave you wanting all the answers now.
Cannot wait for the second book Reveal. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Just to get this out of th eway, this book definitely ends in a cliffhanger. That will absolutely frustrate some. haha.
this book was a rollercoaster, no lie. i can't wait for the next book!

If I was being petty, I'd deduct a star from my rating simply because this book ends in a CLIFFHANGER and NO WHERE does it say in the synopsis that is the case. I almost threw my Kindle across the room when I realized this. A warning would have been nice since I would have probably skipped this book and just waited until both books were out. Imagine my surprise when I"m on Chapter 55 (yes, there really are that many chapters, some are long, some are just two pages), and then the book ends abruptly with the hero doing something stupid and the heroine running away. At that point I'm flipping back to make sure some chapters weren't missing. But to my dismay, I then see that other reviewers have now noted it was a cliffy, ugh.

OK, *deep breath* ... moving on. The book was actually pretty good and I'll definitely read the next book in the series. It was a bit slow at times and now knowing it ended up a cliffhanger, I really think the author could have removed some of the chapters that just seemed to be filler. But it certainly did keep my attention, especially the last half.

Vaughn is a Madam, but don't let that fool you into thinking you really know the type person she is. Turns out, she doesn't sleep with clients and only runs the business to pay off her debts so she can get custody of her niece. So not all is as it seems. Ryker is what he seems though. He's a high-powered divorce attorney who only represents men. She meets Ryker when she takes the place of one of her girls that Ryker paid for after an incident puts the other girl out of commission for the night. So he's someone that pays for no-strings company and is a ruthless attorney to boot. But, you'll quickly see a heartwarming side of Ryker that just makes you begin to like the guy.

Vaughn and Ryker are both attracted to one another, but they are both hesitant to start a relationship. They're also both incredibly stubborn - so much so that it becomes annoying when they intentionally say and do things to hurt the other. Both characters were pretty unlikeable for half the book. But in the end, I actually believed they could be the real deal. That is all TBD after the ending, so we'll see what other drama is stirred up. There is A LOT of drama in this book, by the way. From corrupt politicians to a crappy social worker not doing her job. So while this is a romance, it's more-so a suspense book with some romance to go with it.

Side note: I have a VERY hard time believing that medical debt is counted against you in a child custody case. It's mentioned many times that Vaughn's debt to income ratio is too high because of all the medical bills she has to pay for both her sister and her niece's treatment and therefore she isn't fit to be a parent. Medical debt doesn't even count against you when you're getting a home loan. Yes, it can affect your credit score, but the debt does not go against your debt to income ratio. Having dealt with social services before and child custody for years in the past, it's always about what's in the best interest of the child. If you can pay your bills and prove you can provide for the child, then you're a fit guardian/parent and then it's up to a judge. A social worker doesn't have the final say, it's the judge. The social worker would just provide his/her honest opinion and observations to the judge to help make their case against/for the individual gaining custody. So maybe this was just a state-specific issue or the author made assumptions and didn't do proper research on child custody.

This book. I don't even have words. Vaughn is a head strong, beautiful woman who is handling her own and I love her. Ryker is a gorgeous, arrogant a** that I love to hate lol. This book is a roller coaster and I'm still riding it. Cant wait until September for the rest of the story!!!! It seems SO far away!!!!
