Sweet Jesus! That ending! I don’t think I can wait very long for the next part!
Ok so it took me a little while to get invested but then everything just had me hooked. I actually feel a little bit heart broken myself after that. Really liked the characters. Would love to see more of archer and a whole lot less of Carter. Bring in part 2! Like now please!
As a big fan of the Driven series, I'm excited to read this new series from Bromberg.
Vaughn is trying to run an escort service while working as a waitress in a club to earn enough money to pay her debts. She has medical bills left over from helping her sister with rehab before her sister's suicide. She is also trying to become the guardian of her young niece with Down's Syndrome, Lucy.
Ryker knew that his date with a last minute escort is unusual but he didn't realize it would change his life. The long time divorce lawyer became jaded representing many wealthy, cheating husbands.
After meeting Lucy with Vaughn one day, the couple realizes they can't stop thinking about each other.
Bromberg excels at slow build and potent chemistry. Vaughn and Lucy are especially vivid and it's fun to see Ryker's character arc as he falls in love. Readers will be looking forward to the next one in this series!
It was also fun to see a cameo from Driven's Colton!
“Appreciate the Unexpected” - I didn’t expect that this would end as a CLIFFHANGER!
I couldn’t put this book down! Well written. Great read - hold on to your seats.
Ryker and Vaughn are HOT, irresistible couple displaying vulnerabilities in the quest for power. A story empowerment, of memories and fulfillment of needs until it just isn’t what it seems or is it? A toying of ones emotions - well crafted, skillfully done Bromberg. You don’t really know or do you ? You question your beliefs while relying on your instincts.

First off, K. Bromberg is a huge favorite author of mine. Been reading her books and actually have read every single one, so far.
Vaughn is a BADASS woman!! From the very first pages, you’ll see why. I instantly fell in love with her character. After taking care of a little problem, Vaughn finds herself in the company of the handsome Ryker Lockhart.
Interesting choice of career for Vee (can’t say, I don’t do spoilers) but a brave one at that. But Vee has a goal, a plan…soon she will be able to hop that fence over to the green side.
Vaughn is a woman who wants to do the right thing, knows how to hustle to get though life but is still a woman… with feelings even if she hides behind that facade. Her childhood was beautiful, until she lost her mother, it all spiraled from there with well i can’t say but a lot. Be prepared to be surprised by Vaughn on every turn.
Now Ryker, is a peculiar creature. A successful high rise divorce attorney that not only has the money but power. Big names, big clients and always men only clients. His issues run deep and something that may not have been as dramatically as Vee’s but not less influential. I have to say that he is the ultimate-bookhusband because your pants will be swooned off. As arrogant and blunt he is, he is still alpha, in control yet reasons with Vaughn over the power.
Power struggle? Absolutely! But when Vaughn let’s her guard down even for a second, gosh it is beautiful. Secret’s are revealed, a sweet moment of unicorn scenes (will melt your heart) and danger. If you’ve read Bromberg before you know her style, so this is exactly what I would want from one of her books & more. I can’t really say much to be honest, it would be a huge shame to spoiler alert this because it’s worth a full focus read!! You’ll be hooked, I couldn’t stop and kept reading faster then slowing down because I didn’t want it to end. The ending, I kind of want to say I was expecting it but I did not expect how it happened. Shame on your Ryker!! I’m going to say this once and then deny it if anyone else asks me again but….I think i loved this book even more than DRIVEN *goes to hide under desk so lightning doesn’t strike me* phew, nothing yet! That said, this is huge and I am very much looking forward to BOOK #2!
p.s. Now, don’t get me wrong I know there were cover reveals of TWO books (hell I even took a photo just for it) but my stupid-head didn’t comprehend until i realized this is a CLIFFHANGER! *sigh*

This is book one in the Wicked Ways series. This is Ryker and Vaughn book , Ryker is a high powered attorney he’s also Rich, handsome, and definitely intriguing! Vaughn Definitely made a big mistake in meeting Riker, he thinks his blackmail will bend her to his will but he is oh so wrong! Vaughn May have done a few sketchy things in her life that weren’t exactly legal but she has her own reasons for all that! She’s not about to let some high-powered divorce attorney have her body and rule her heart not to mention ruin everything that she’s carefully built! This book was an OK read I usually like this authors books and this one like I said it was OK it just was not my favorite I just couldn’t get into it for some reason I’m sure there’s a lot of people that will like it because it was a decent read it just didn’t keep my attention. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
Well K. Bromberg has done it again. Shes pulled me into a book where I feel everything just as much as the characters. Driven has always been my favorite series ever by any author. None has ever compared but I didnt how much this story had sucked me in until I reached the end and had a wtf moment. I am so sad its over because now I have a long wait for book two. This series has the potential to be just as big as Driven was. I loved both Ryker and Vaughn. Ryker was the spoiled, rich guy who we all love to hate but definitely want. Vaughn hasnt had the easiest life but she is determined to make her life matter by fighting for what matters most to her. So Ryker was unexpected. The emotions I felt with every being. The ending I should have seen it coming because it is only book one but I still was caught off guard. And I cant wait to see how book two picks up all the broken pieces of my heart.
I love K. Bromberg's books and this one did not disappoint! Holy cliffhanger though! I'm going to need to read the next book ASAP to find out what Ryker was thinking in the end with Vaughn. Vaughn is a madam and Ryker is a client that ends up to be what Vaughn might think is the "one" until the lies get crossed and their need to protect certain things in their lives come front and center.
When I finished Resist I could only sit there and take in what I had just read. Words are inadequate for Vaughn and Ryker’s story. Ryker is a divorce attorney, well known for representing only men and winning. Two different people, attracted to each other and yet shouldn’t be together. Vaughn is a Madam, yet she is not in every sense of the word. I would call her profession “a means to an end”. And Vee will fight until the end to get what she really wants. There is hope and there is lostness within the pages of this story, and just when you think all is going to be okay, there it is, the bombshell and you are left hanging on edge. We will hang on tight for the next book...

Resist is the perfect name for this book! That is exactly what Vaughn should have done the moment she met Ryker, but of course she didn't and that is what gave us the goodness that is book one in the Wicked Ways series!
Vaughn is a madam and owns Wicked Ways, but what you see with her isn't the full story. She actually lives a double life. While she runs the escort business, she's also a waitress at a high end club. What most don't know are the reasons she's going to the lengths she is to be working both of these jobs. She smart, but she might have met her match in Ryker because he seems to be the one that might pull the thread that unravels everything.
Ryker is a divorce attorney and he's used to winning. It's the only thing he knows. He's rich, he's powerful, he doesn't take no for an answer and he's sexy as all get out. He doesn't believe in love or relationships, which isn't surprising with his job, but there is something about Vaughn when he meets her that he can't quite get over.
These two characters are both strong and stubborn. When Ryker offers Vaughn something that he knows she won't be able to refuse, it turns everything on its head and makes it very, very interesting! Ryker seems to know how Vaughn ticks, which is something most have not figured out, so that unnerves her, but his walls are also being worn down by this intriguing woman.
This was a very enjoyable and while, like most I'm sure, I was wishing Kristy hadn't left it where she did, but I'll be here waiting for the next book to release to see how all of this plays out!
Agreeing to meet Ryker Lockhart is my first mistake. Rich, handsome, and more than intriguing, he thinks blackmail will bend me to his will. But he’s wrong. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.K. Bromberg is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
OOOOOhhhhh, do I hate cliffhangers! Let me repeat – I hate cliffhangers! And this book ends in a doozy!
But I love K. Bromberg! Would I have read it if I knew it ended in a cliffhanger? Probably, because K. Bromberg writes great story lines and this is one of the best.
Resist has two central characters; Vaughn aka Vee who is a Madam running an escort business so that she can pay down her debt as quickly as possible in order to adopt her special needs niece, Lucy, and Ryder, a powerful divorce attorney whose clientele are only men never women. Once Vaughn and Ryder meet, sparks fly and the dance begins. They both are falling for each other despite never being truly in love before. They circle each other. They fight each other. But they always circle back to each other.
Until that ending! Who knew that it was coming? Who even saw it coming? Like I said in the beginning, I hate cliffhangers! But, I will definitely be buying the second half of this duet to find out what happens to these two! You can bet on that! 5 Stars all the way!
I received an ARC for an honest review of this book.
Gahhhhh! I’m so mad right now. I could punch a certain divorce attorney right in the balls. But the reason I’m so mad is because I felt for that man instantly and his broody ways. Addicting as hell! I kept flipping the pages like a mad woman and this book completely pissed me off at the end. But in the best of ways. It made me feel. I related to it. I fell for the characters and enjoyed their banter. I loved it. Can’t wait for the next book to come out because I know some major groveling better be happening!!!! And I mean MAJORRRR! Bromberg nailed this one!
I love K Bromberg's Driven series and this was another fabulous read. Can't wait for the next instalment.
I received this ARC for an honest review from NetGalley.
I will start by saying that this book is the first in a duet and that it finishes on a BIG CLIFFHANGER.
The heroine, Vaughn, is the owner of an escort service. And to be honest, I normally wouldn’t read that type of book, but I am so glad that I did! Vaughn is a badass and the chemistry and push and pull banter between her and the hero, Ryker, builds a lot of tension. The story is also told from both perspectives which I’m a huge fan of.
I would recommend not reading a lot of details about this book before you read it. There are so many details about Vaughn’s past and the reasons that she does what she does to uncover. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to fans of K. Bromberg’s other series.
ARC provided through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This book is reminiscent of the Driven series,my favorite by this author. I wasn’t sure of what to make of Vaughn at first but as the book unfolded I grew to love her. I especially love her relationship with her niece. Ryker and Vaughn seem to be two kindred spirits who don’t realize it yet! I loved all the push and pull in this relationship! But of course this ended on a cliffhanger and you are going to have to wait for the next one to see what happens. Argh, I will be waiting, waiting, waiting!
Three nope-this book is not for me even one of my favorite authors wrote it, impossible to connect or empathize with characters stars!
As soon as I saw K. Bromberg’s name on the list, I dive in because I loved “Driven” series and read her several books in one sit. So I was really hopeful and made a mistake not to read the blurb or anything about book before I jump and meet the ground. It is time for me to learn from my mistakes.
So the heroine is a Madam ( Nope, not madam secretary just the madam), owner of escort service then at night she turned into a waitress. Yes, as soon as I wrote this, it didn’t make sense to me, too.
And hero is client of her escort company. She’s forced to entertain him. And they let all the power plays begin!
Too much lies, too much secrets, too much games! But I wanted to see more love, more passion, more emotion!
I know the author is gifted enough to write smartly developed romance novels with complex characters from different backgrounds. The chemistry between the couple was good but when you read romance you don’t want to get confused with too much mind games, you wanna read something also feeds your soul and grabs your heart.
Maybe I was not in a mood of reading something like this or as I felt before there was something missing in this book. I’m not so sure enough to read the second book even the cliffhanger was tempting!
I still love her writing and i hope to read other and better books of her sooner than later.

****READER BEWARE! MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!!!****
I've read many of K. Bromberg's novels. Some I've loved and some not as much. But I like her writing enough to always give a new novel of her's a try. Resist lands firmly in the loved category! Resist follows the story of Vaughn. She's works as a waitress in an upscale night club but she also has a secret. She runs an exclusive escort service. Yep, she's a madam! And that's how she crosses paths with high-powered divorce attorney, Ryker Lockhart. Things start off pretty rocky. Vaughn is a strong-willed person and she definitely meets her match in the extremely arrogant Ryker. But both characters have redeeming qualities. Vaughn's escort service is a means to an end. She's trying to adopt her niece, Lucy. She's determined to make that happened and she's just won't allow herself to be distracted by Ryker. Ryker is an arrogant, demanding, alpha male. He likes things his way. We do get to see some of Ryker's softer side, especially in his interactions with Lucy. All of this makes for one intense romance. I was really enjoying this book. I got to the end before I realized and then BAM! CLIFFHANGER! I wasn't ready. Although, cliffhangers aren't my favorite, I will definitely be reading the next installment in the Wicked Ways Series. I need to know how this ends! Cliffhanger aside, I think this is one of K. Bromberg's better novels. I especially enjoyed the Colton Donovan cameo! Can't wait for Reveal.
Another fabulous read by one of my favourite authors! K Bromberg does it again!! Really enjoyed resist and loved the little cameo from Colton!
Here is a cards on the table moment. If you said to me, here’s a book about a rich alpha and a madam I wouldn’t have wanted to read it. Not my kind of trope. But throw in the magic words, here’s a book by Kristy Bromberg and I would grab it with both hands regardless of trope.
Vaughn and Ryker have an electric reaction to each other. It’s so hot it’s combustible. Vaughn is a rich complex character with lots of side issues that create far more than an alpha/madam trope.
There is a sweetness in the form of the beautiful, unicorn loving Lucy. I adored her. There’s villains to be discovered that made me booooo and hissssss! Methinks there is a few misunderstandings too but the big reveal is yet to come.
“Most people look for love in the sunrise, when they don’t realise for them it can be found in the sunset.”
Book two can’t come soon enough.
OMG!! I loved this book but I knew I would since the author is one of my favorites! I have read all of her books and loved every one of them. I loved the characters and the story. As usual K. Bromberg has me biting my nails and anxiously waiting for the 2nd book to this series. If you get a chance to read this do you won't be disappointed. Thanks for another great story K. Bromberg.
