I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. I've only ever read one book by K. Bromberg before and this one was unexpected in its intensity.
Vaughn and Ryker drug me into their story and made me feel so many things. I love a book that digs deep and creates emotions. I did my best to read it slowly because I didnt want it to end.
Most definitely a five star read... for making me want more of Ryker and Vaughn, even if it did leave me hanging.

4.5 stars--RESIST is the first instalment in K. Bromberg’s contemporary, adult WICKED WAYS erotic, romance series focusing on high powered divorce attorney Ryker Lockhart, and business woman Vaughn Sanders. There is a slight-cross over with the author’s DRIVEN series with a cameo appearance by Colton Donavan.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ryker and Vaughn) RESIST follows the building but acrimonious relationship between high powered divorce attorney Ryker Lockhart, and business woman Vaughn Sanders. Vaughn Sanders is hoping to gain custody of her late sister’s daughter but financial problems find our heroine skirting the law in an attempt to pay down her debt and make enough money to support her eight year old niece Lucy. A business proposition from divorce attorney Ryker Lockhart screams all kinds of problems including Ryker’s claimed ownership of our story line heroine. What ensues is the back and forth, tempestuous relationship between Ryker and Vaughn, and the potential fall –out as Vaughn finds herself caught between head and heart, and the possible destruction of everything she holds dear.

Ryker Lockhart doesn’t do relationships, and in this he struggles with his attraction to a woman with questionable ethics, and a business that caters to the rich and famous. Vaughn Sanders is desperate to reunite with her sister’s daughter but bureaucratic red tape, and uneasy acquaintances threaten any future of which Vaughn is hoping to succeed.

The relationship between Vaughn and Ryker begins as business arrangement wherein the power struggle between our leading couple constantly comes to a head. This book is freaking fantastic. Ryker is a divorce lawyer, rich, handsome, powerful, commitment-phobia. The only relationship he is interested in is for hire. Vaughn is … let’s see Madame for Wicked Ways, waitress, devoted auntie … beautiful, strong minded, intriguing. Her number one rule is never date a client …until she met Ryker. Unfortunately for Vaughn, what Ryker wants, Ryker gets. Oh… what money can buy? Or can it?
This is one a delicious slow-burn romance. Emotional, heart-pounding, unconventional, steamy and sexy as all get out. The chemistry is incredible between Vaughn and Ryker. Love the banters - they are both stubborn pig heads so there you have it…
I love all the feels. I giggle, laugh out loud, cry, frustrated – very intense in some parts. The ending … BIG freaking CLIFFHANGER. Oh K. Bromberg is GOOD at making you sweat!!!! I need REVEAL like YESTERDAY!!!

Resist is the story of Ryker and Vaughn, a couple that have undeniable chemistry but they come from very different backgrounds. Ryker is a successful divorce lawyer and Vaughn is the madam of an escort service. She is a strong woman doing what she has to do for the love of her niece. Both characters are complex and multilayered, and sometimes a little frustrating when they can’t be on the same page at the same time. However, this does create great push-pull between the two. There is an underlying heaviness to Vaughn’s past and Ryker just came out of a deceptive relationship. Learning to trust again is at the heart of the book, but then there’s a huge cliffhanger that I wasn’t expecting. I can’t wait to read the next installment.

Resist is the first book in the Wicked Ways duet by the talented K. Bromberg. That's right, it's a duet and ends on an epic cliffhanger. I just want you to be aware. I love cliffhangers! They always make me crazy in a good way and I'm thankful we don't have to wait too long for Reveal, the conclusion. Vaughn is a private woman. She had a job to do and she had one goal. That's it. Then she meets Ryker. He's an arrogant divorce attorney with more money than God and they are from two different worlds. He forces her to make a decision. One she's not sure she'll survive. She can't afford to lose sight of what she's working towards. Ryker wants her. Period. It starts off as one thing then changes into something else. He has no idea how it happened to what to do about it now. It's a crazy powerplay and neither one is going to give in. What happens when it all blows up? Fight or flight? Oh man! That was intense! Vaughn and Ryker have one hell of a ride ahead of them and I can't wait to see what happens!

There are some books that leave you wanting more and some that make you want to scream because you need to know the rest of the story and this one falls on the latter side. Please write quickly so I can have the next book Ms. Bromberg :) I was so caught up in this story and all of the many things that Vaughn has been through that I couldn't put it down and throw Ryker into the mix and hot damn...

This is a must read and I really can't wait to get my hands on that next book in line.

Book Boyfriend: 💋💋💋.5
Ryker Lockhart is an arrogant, self-righteous man that bends the rules wherever he sees fit, in and out of the courtroom.  His MO is to represent only men their divorces because women can’t be trusted. Ryker is VERY good at his job. He was born into certain bloodlines that require him to run in very specific circles.  Ryker is gorgeous, intelligent, cunning and completely unavailable emotionally. He thinks he can strong arm anyone and doesn’t care who he hurts to get his way. But there is a softer side to Ryker and a special little girl brings that out in him.  Many times throughout the book, I really hated him and couldn’t believe the audacity he has in certain situations. Now, there are moments where he is amazing and caring. I’m really hoping he comes across as a better man in the second book because I definitely wouldn’t want him after the first.

Vaughn Sanders aka Vee is a woman of mystery.  Not only is she gorgeous but she is strong and independent.  Vaughn isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes and go toe-to-toe with any alpha man.  Her defiant spirit, curvaceous body and innocent face make her every man’s wet dream. But she leads two completely different lives and struggles to keep them separate, all the while, fighting a broken government system.  Vaughn is emotionally disconnected and sees the world in black and white. She has one purpose for living and she will not give up until she succeeds.  
Plot: 💋💋💋💋
This story was very different from many novels I have read.  Vee is a madam of a new escort service where she has to be someone else - a ball buster.  Vaughn is a girl trying to work as hard as she can at an elite club to pay down her debt. A debt she acquired helping her sister fight against addiction.  She deals very arrogant, entitled men in both lines of work and has no time to deal with them. When she gets herself in a bit of a pickle, the story takes an interesting turn.  And then, I was hooked and left hanging.

Steamy Factor: 💋💋💋.5
Although the sexy scenes are far and few between, when they do transpire, they are HOT!  Very detailed that might leave you squeezing your legs together and blushing.

I have to say that this book took me some time to get into because I wasn’t a huge fan of the premise.  I’m not really into books about escorts and whatnot but as I kept reading, I became hooked in the story outside of her job.  I wish like heck that it didn’t end in a cliffhanger because my heart was broken at the end of the novel. This story takes you on an emotional roller coaster and I don’t think I’ve rooted for another female character more in my life.  She is strong, caring and you just want to see her happy. I am going to have a VERY hard time waiting for the next book but luckily, it is the conclusion.

Wow! Talk about major cliffhanger. This is the first book I have read by this author and since this one was a cliffhanger, it won't be the last. This story intrigued me from the start and captivated me right until the cliffhanger. Have I mentioned there was a cliffhanger?

Both characters were very well developed and likable. There was certainly no mistaking the chemistry between Vaughn and Ryker. This story was also refreshing in that it had a unique plot twist that I haven't personally encountered before. Overall, I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read what happens next.

My first thought on getting to the end of this book was that I should have paid more attention because it's not a standalone.

Vaughn is a woman with a plan and nothing is going to get in her way until Ryker Lockhart barges into her life. I loved these two, that have enough chemistry to set the pages on fire. Vaughn is stubborn and headstrong but as you get into the story you realise she's has to be. Ryker has all the traits I want to read in a bbf, to be honest he's a bit of a dick but I still fell for him.
Loved Ryker's stubborn pursuit of Vaughn he's one sexy powerful man who may just have met his match.

What a cliffhanger !!! Hopefully book two will be out soon.

I have been a K. Bromberg fan since the beginning...when Colton snuck into my heart and has resided for a long time now.  So when I hear a new K. Bromberg book is coming I am READY AND WAITING.

Ryker Lockhart is a rich, handsome divorce lawyer who's looking for companionship with no strings attached and that's where Vee comes in.  A young woman who's running an escort business to earn money to make her life and her niece's life better.  She's not a high powered madame, she's a young lady who will go to any lengths to do what's right for her niece even if she's going against her beliefs.

The relationship between Ryker and Vee (aka Vaughn) starts off as business and turns into so much more.   K. Bromberg weaves us a story with twists and turns, with ups and downs and curves that I wasn't expecting to occur.  For me, a book that keeps me reading, page after page after page without interruption is exactly what I love.

The relationship is sweet and loving, hot and sexy and healing for both Ryker and Vaughn.  But in true K. Bromberg fashion, she threw us a curve that I would have NEVER seen coming and then left us hanging...on the top of the roller coaster....waiting for the fall...


As always, I know the wait will be worth it!  Come on September 24th

Vaughn broke my heart. This story, so full of pain and past hurts and doubts that shaped these two people, left my heart in pieces. Vaughn is so loyal and loving and strong. Ryker is larger than life and transforms during this story. Wow.

Resist by K Bromberg is the first book in the Wicked Ways series and oh man was it so good! That freakin’ ending almost did me in!! Steamy, suspenseful, and full of secrets, Resist takes you on a wild journey that I never wanted to end. K Bromberg completely brings it with this book and you do not want to miss out.

I completely and utterly fell in love with Vaughn and Ryker. Vaughn had all of her secrets but I really felt for her and the situation she was in. Ryker...he stole my heart. Even with his ruthlessness, there was something so magnetic about him. And together they were explosive! But will their connection be strong enough to weather the storm?

Resist is seriously one of my top recs of the year. I can not recommend it enough! Bromberg is a phenomenal storyteller and I am so excited for book two!

Ryker Lockhart is one of NYC's in-demand divorce lawyers. Alpha, cynical and demanding. He meets his match in Vaughn. At first sight, she knocks him off his feet. She's resistant and snarky. He knows he shouldn't waste his time on her but, somehow, she's gets under his skin. So begins a game of cat and mouse between them. Who is willing to concede first?

"I'll save you the trouble and just lay it out for you. You're going to be mine."

Gah! This story was fantastic! I loved the friction between Vaughn and Ryker. The initial power play between them is thrilling; one not willing to submit to the other. They push each other to the limit. Ryker is totally turned on by her ballsiness yet, at the same time, completely frustrated by her resistance to him. Vaughn is always in control. She's got too much at stake to risk making a slip-up. However, Ryker is like no one she's ever met. He's infuriating but irresistible. She comes across so tough but she's also incredibly vulnerable, as the thread of her control over her life begins to loosen. The two of them together are combustible and I adored the tentative tenderness between them, which made the ending so shocking. I'm desperate for the concluding book!!

Resist is the perfect title for the beginning of Ryker Lockhart and Vaughn Sanders’ story, and while it’s clear that Vaughn is the one who wants and maybe even needs to resist this sexy, intelligent, and arrogant divorce attorney, it certainly seems that her resistance is futile, regardless of what she could lose by giving into her attraction to Ryker and losing focus on why she’s living a double-life in the first place.

Vaughn Sanders is all business and there are multiple reasons for her tunnel vision focus that are revealed throughout the course of the story. She’s intelligent, driven, and resolute on what she needs to accomplish in order to reach her goals but her present is built on a mountain of lies and with a man like Ryker, it seems to only be a matter of time before Vaughn’s facade crumbles and everything she’s trying to keep hidden threatens to unravel.

Mixing business with pleasure is never advised, but these two can’t seem to resist one another and despite the fallout that could ensue from them pursuing any other type of relationship other than a strictly professional one, it’s clear that they can’t stop their feelings from growing, which means there’s a real possibility that their closeness just might be their downfall, especially with the number of outside interferences that seem to want everything these two have built and are building to burn to the ground.

Even at the end of Resist, I still don’t have a complete understanding of either Ryker or Vaughn, and while I feel like that’s deliberate on the part of the author, it still makes me question their motives, their words, and their actions. The reason these two meet as well as why Ryker pursues Vaughn so tirelessly factor into the direction their more than professional relationship goes, but there’s a lot that Ryker doesn’t know about Vaughn’s past and present, which means that it’s difficult to ascertain his reaction when Vaughn’s secrets and lies are unearthed.

There are multiple plot line threads strewn throughout Resist - some that help shed light on both Ryker and Vaughn while others focus specifically on one or the other, shedding light on certain areas of their lives as well as enlightening readers about all that could destroy them.

Ryker and Vaughn’s story has only just begun, which means that Resist ends in quite the cliffhanger, forcing readers to wait to see what happens, knowing that things may not be what they seem, until the next installment, Reveal, releases.

4.5 Poison Apples

So I am torn on how I feel about this book. For me this book had a lot of highs and lows. There were time when exciting things would happen and I would be invested in the story but then there were other times there was a lull and I was waiting for something to happen. I really enjoyed the storyline. I thought it was unique and had me asking questions while reading which lead me to keep reading so I could get answers. But I had a hard time connecting with the characters so that made me not terribly investing in the story. This is book one of two so if you haven't guess there is a cliffhanger and I hope I get the conclusion I am looking for.

K. Bromberg always delivers with strong characters and she didn't disappoint with the first installment of Wicked Ways. The chemistry and strong personalities of Vaughn and Ryker won't let you put the book down and then when you get to the end. Then BAM cliffhanger! But you know the next book is going to rock your world like this one. So it is worth the wait.

I went into this completely blind. First off, you should know that it is book one of a duet, so things are not resolved in Resist. Hello, cliffhanger! I started this in ebook and finished it in audiobook. I loved it. K. Bromberg is an automatic one-click for me so I was not surprised that it was amazing. What did surprise me was the amount of suspense she doled out in this one.
Vaughn is living sort of a double life in order to get custody of her niece. And she has some CRAZY baggage. Ryker is a big-time divorce attorney who is completely over women. They meet and the chemistry is off the charts. There is a lot of angst but it all felt really organic. As always, I very much enjoyed the writing. Kristy Bromberg is a master at weaving a story. I had a fun time noticing some "Easter eggs" that she threw in from other books.
Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke made it even better with their fantastic narration. I highly recommend and can't wait to get my hands on book two! Thankfully, we don't have long to wait as it releases in September.

I need the next book - yesterday! Resist definitely lives up to it's title, as you won't be able to resist the dark romance that plays out in the most devious of ways. Be forewarned, this story isn't wrapped up in a tidy little bow for you, so prepare yourself. K. Bromberg knows just how to draw you in, twist you up and leave you begging for more!

Wonderful chemistry filled romance , slow burn which I love with lots of emotion and now I need to know what’s happening next. A great entertaining read
