A thrilling read that I devoured in less than a day. Full of secrets and intrigue. Who knows what secrets their neighbours are hiding?

Kept me engaged with its twists and turns. The novel's exploration of suburban secrets and the darker sides of its characters was both gripping and intriguing. Lapena’s ability to build suspense and keep the mystery unfolding at a steady pace made it a compelling read. I appreciated how the story delved into the complexities of relationships and trust, making the experience both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I ended up not finishing this one, it just wasn't for me, thanks anyway for taking the time to accept my request.

A thrilling read, with a gripping storyline, you wont want to put this down. Clear your schedule, take the phone off the hook, and enjoy.

I’ve read a couple by Shari Lapena so kind of know what your expecting and this is much of the same formula.
A clever premise if slightly lacking but there are plenty of twists to keep you guessing and for an easy type of read that doesn’t need to much brain power it’s enjoyable enough. Holiday reading.

Great thriller which I could not put down. Brilliant characters, and twists and turns. Highly recommend to others!

The story starts off with neighbourhood break ins, and one of the wife’s going missing, then shortly turning up dead.
This one fell a little flat for me. I love Shari Lapena and read all of her books, but something was missing for me from this.
I can see it being a good book to read on the beach though, when you need something light and quick!
Thank you NetGalley and Shari Lapena for my advanced copy!

Such a good story by this author
I love Shari Lapena books they are always so good with great plots
Highly recommended

I really enjoyed the book and I can't wait to see what the next book delivers. There was a number of twists and turns throughout the book, and kept me glued to the book. Recommended.

Loved this book - so many secrets in one set of characters! This really keeps you guessing and ramps up the tension. I didn't suspect the twist towards the end - very clever!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I normally love this author and was pleased with the beginning, however, my interest waned so much in the middle of the book that I gave up.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House for stopping me sleeping. and apologies for the delay in reviewing - work is getting in the way of my reading!
This was creepy, through provoking and a little disturbing. I got a little bored part way through but then it picked up again. This is the first Shari Lapena book I have read and it won't be the last

This was a creepy triller, set in suburbia in a friendly neighbourhood ( I pictured Wisteria Ave from Desperate Housewives ) a murder happens, first page so no spoilers there. As time passes more layers are unwrapped and more secrets are exposed. Very clever, kept me guessing a really enjoyable read.

This book started off so promising and I was sure it was going to be a cracker. The different neighbours and how they were interwoven was looking very juicy! But unfortunately towards the middle of the book it started to go downhill and I was left disappointed with the damp pop at the end. Sorry!

This is a chilling new take on the domestic noir. When someone leaves anonymous notes informing neighbours that their sectrets may have been exposed, bad things start to happen. This was a thrilling expose of just what sort of secrets your neighbours could be keeping and sent tingles down my spine. The plotting was so tight and the characterisation so well drawn that I was rapt from start to finish.

I've read three of Shari Lapena's four thrillers and this is by far the best of the bunch.
It's the least ridiculous of her plots (and I mean that in the nicest possible way) and the characters feel much more realistic as a result. The story unfolds at a good pace and there's enough suspense to keep you completely hooked.
If you're someone who reads a lot of thrillers, you'll probably figure out the resolution and reveal pretty early on but I still think this one is worth picking up. It's a story that actually doesn't rely on the shocks and feels coherent, even after the reveal. Not something that can be said about all thrillers. Good writing
Thanks to RandomHouse UK and NetGalley for providing me with a copy for review.

Everyone has secrets
Someone we Know is the latest book from Shari Lapena a very smart modern Whodunnit.
When one of your neighbours goes missing and later found dead everyone in the neighbourhood comes under suspicion and just how many secrets do your neighbours keep behind closed doors?
This book does not disappoint as Lapena is a very skillful writer and weaves the plot expertly keeping you guessing as we find most of the cast all have secrets and lies that they want to keep locked up.
What we have here is a gripping page turner as Lapena leads us down many roads with a few red herrings thrown in here and there to keep us guessing just who the murderer is.
This is a super quick read with great punchy chapters and one for the beach or by the pool, I have read 3 of her novels now and all of them have been great reads.
As with all Lapena books this has a top ending that could leave the door open for a squeal or for our own imaginations to run wild with the next story.
Well worth your time and hard-earned cash a great read.

Shari Lapena has done better than this book. While it still managed to entice me with a fast pace, sinister characters and lots of plot twists, I found the flicking between characters to be overwhelming. Dipping into each of their mindsets meant that I couldn't connect with any of them and therefore didn't feel the impact of the story. I thought one of the deaths at the end was unnecessary and far-fetched and I did manage to predict the ending quite easily. A shame!

What a fantastic read this was. It’s full of twists and turns and an unexpected twist at the end that you would never have expected. Amazing story, intriguing characters and the setting was great. I’ve read all this authors books and will continue to keep my eye out for more when released. One of my favourite authors. I would recommend this book to everyone that enjoys this genre.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this.
