'100% Unofficial Fortnite Guide' by Becker&Mayer! is a guide for young gamers to help excel at one of the most popular games around.

The book starts with a look at Fortnite on mobile platforms, then dives right in with building tips and the best loadouts for characters and teams. Things like emotes and skins come next along with pets. Discussions about roles and teams and how the game has changed finish up the book.

I don't play Fortnite, but I know a good game guide. This one keeps the text lively and has lots of great insider tips. I liked the history of the game and the list of ten epic moments. Younger gamers should find this a fun read.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - becker&meyer kids!, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

A fabulous book for anyone looking to improve their fortnight performance, covering so many areas.
From the different platforms you can play on, to building, weapons, strategies and materials. There really us something for everyone in here.

I think the parents section is really important too.
As a parent of a teen who is often in the middle of a game when called for dinner or some other need, it can be frustrating to say the least when they don't want to leave the game.
As pointed out in this book, to leave a game you often have to abandon teams or partners in the middle of a mission. This can be disappointing for all parties. I think pointing this out is really helpful.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgallery and the publishers for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

With three boys in the household who are all massive fans of fortnite, this has proved very popular. It is full of tips and tricks to help them in their game and a showcase of skins which they love.

I would highly recommend this book to any fortunate fans.

As a huge fan of Fortnite, these types of books are always a bit of letdown because it's hard to find one that's actually useful. Especially when they tend to have a very short shelf life. With the game changing every week with new updates, and changing drastically every 2 to 3 months as each new season launches, these guides get out-of-date fast. This latest fortnite guide straddles that line between being outdated and being useful.

Some aspects of this guide I greatly appreciated - mainly the strategic aspects that showed different ways to build as these will always have lasting value. Everything else? Not so much. The map is already out-of-date. Many of the weapons included have already been vaulted and are no longer featured in the game. A very odd inclusion of information about skins and emotes when these are not the things you worry about when you want to improve your game.

If the publishing industry is going to keep churning out these cash cows, at least make some of them useful! We want strategic gameplay not outdated information.

ARC provided by NetGalley and Becker & Meyer.

These books are the stuff of nightmare for librarians. There is a demand that cannot be avoided for them, yet they have a life cycle of only a few months before a new one must be purchased, the information becoming quickly out of date as a new season or large update for the game comes out. Must we buy in to the Fortnite Guide demand every two months?

There is an initial appeal. Oh wow, BOOKS exist for Fortnite? There are so many. And then the realization hits. I've heard from young patrons at the library: we're on Season X, this book is from Season Y... the whole map has changed. It hurts my soul. There are hundreds of Unofficial, Super Unofficial and Absolutely Unofficial Guides to this game.

Buy it, if you dare. This book is structured nicely and easy to follow. It includes information on playing Mobile, on using the Nintendo Switch. It has some comprehensive build guides for various structures that would help strategically. I doubt those things will become outdated. This book is also just vague enough to live longer than others I have seen. The book has suggestions for game-play STYLES (like being an aggressive assault role) which will remain consistent.

However, we then turn to the map section and it all is down hill. Who knows if these locations in the guide will even be there in two months? And the language, which often says things like "Epic has recently..." or "the new buildings..." do not help with future proofing. Some of the info may still be valid, so all is not lost. But if you're already on the internet or your family has access to it - save your money and look up web guides. Follow your favorite streamer for pointers. Please remember to recycle these books when they've lost their value.

Favorite quote, in the dance section "Nothing will rub salt in the wound of a recently picked-off enemy than seeing you dabbing incessantly over their loot."
