Erica Ridley is a must-have if you dig historical romance. The Wicked Dukes Club has been a great experience and this title is a sweet and enjoyable addition. I love stories that focus on class difference so this was right in my wheelhouse.

I got this book a while ago, read part of it, but in going through my Netgalley library etc I realised I hadn’t finished it or reviewed it. This is my attempt to rectify that

This fits in with other books by this author (in this and other series) where it is female centric, and the woman often finds herself rebelling against expectation in order to find themselves

Much of this is over 2 weeks where Cole (aka Colehaven) has entered into a bet with another member of the gentry, which he bets that his curricle will beat the curricle of the other (Silas) in a race in two weeks time

Cole has promised his sister (the Lady Felicity) that it would not be him riding the curricle – in fact he has engaged the best smith in town (Giles) to maintain his curricle and drive it. The main/only proviso – that Lady Felicity is the apprentice to help on upgrading the curricle.

Over the next 2 weeks, Giles and Felicity fall in love, all whilst Felicity is trying to make an catch in the TON that would give her the stability she needed whilst allowing her the freedom to do what she wanted. Ultimately a major decision needs to be made – what does Felicity need more – the apparent stability of a titled husband, or love?

This was a decent story, but reading this a year after reading the other books in the series was interesting. It can easily be read alone, as whilst there are references to other stories in the series, this story is not dependant on having read the other stories in the series. There is ONE reference to distances being measured in “blocks” – a personal bug bear of mine when reading stories written for the American Market, but written about Regency London. Gah!

Erica Ridley's books are reliably fun and a perfect antidote for these stressful days when a bit of escapism is just what I need. Charming, romantic, and well-paced.

One Night To Remember checks all the boxes for a historical romance I would like to read. Mix of classes and an out of the box heroine. Lady Felicity is trying to find a titled match for herself at her brothers urging. Though she grew up as a blacksmith apprentice and now adapts her brothers coaches for racing.

Which is how we meet our hero! Felicity’s brother is looking for the best driver to race his vehicle. Enter Giles Langford. Smithy and Racing king. Also, heart of gold in this guy.

Something about the flow of this book kept me from really getting into it. The chemistry was there but not enough sparks or conflict. It was at times...boring. What I did love were the scenes in Langfords Smithy, a sweet picnic and a bath one night...

Erica Ridley is a great historical romance writer and I love her books. This one wasn’t my cup of tea but I highly recommend her books.

A great historical romance. I love escaping to a time that is so different from my own. While the plotline/ themes were predictable for a historical romance novel, I was kept captivated.

Not your typical heroine. Delightful story with the requisite HEA. Fun love story worth the read. Will be looking for more from this author - especially with these characters.

Mildly fun but ultimately forgettable. Felicity grew up in a smithy when her brother inherited the Dukedom at a young age. Since then, she has been determined to make a good match that will give her the political clout and social connections to improve the rights of children living in poverty. However, when her brother makes a bet in a horse race, he gets Felicity to work with Giles, a renowned horse racer and blacksmith.

I truly enjoyed the anachronistic plot and thematic messages. It was new - and intriguing - to read about a female blacksmith that knew much about carriages, and it was pleasant to read about Giles understanding the double standard Felicity lived under. Not only that but that Felicity (view spoiler) was the best part of the story.

However, the chemistry was not really there. There were glimmers of it between Felicity and Giles, but nothing developed. At first, I thought Giles would dislike Felicity because he assumes all she wants is a title, but he quickly falls in love with her and wants to convince her to be with him, so much so that he understands why she is marrying for a title. There wasn't much conflict between the two, either from themselves or from others. Nothing felt forbidden, or as if anything would truly keep them apart, but their love was a comfortable love. It's definitely a read for those in a lighter mood, but it didn't really sparkle for me.

Engaging and easy to read but not too memorable.

This author never fails to write a wonderful story! In this story there is a female blacksmith who is so wonderful that I wanted to be her. Of course, there is also a male counterpart, and when they put their heads together (as commanded by her brother) a connection is made. They are drawn to each other, but our heroine has a different plan in mind and fights the attraction. She wants to marry someone rich who will also let her start a foundation to help homeless children.

The story is so well-written with wonderful characters that you will absolutely love! It's an awesome romance story with some drama and wonderful humor. I read this book so quickly that my head spun! That's how good it is. I highly recommend this book!

I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review. #WickedDukes #NetGalley
-The previous book - One Night of Scandal - was the most romantic book in the series so far.
-But this one is the most exhilarating! I read the book in one sitting; I couldn't take my eyes off the words; they were flowing across each line, eager for the next one. "Excitement was palpable". Exciting indeed.
-One example of a LOL moment and of course it's right at the beginning: "For a single, unreal moment, Giles feared the duke was referring to his cat".
-I loved the races, I loved the neighborhood lads and lasses, I loved the courting dance between Giles and Felicity, and how Cole & Felicity cared for each other - true siblings.
-I just wished there was a second epilogue. Good job on the editing.

I loved Giles and Felicity, they were a great match. The story line was well written and keeps you pulled in to see if they are going to find their HEA...which of course they did!

“One Night to Remember” is the 5th book in the “Wicked Dukes Club” series by Erica Ridley.

Lady Felicity is a titled female who masquerades as a male mechanic. No one but her brother knows about her hobby.

Giles Langford is a charming and handsome man with no title, but is fondly nicknamed by many as the Curricle King - an infamous curricle racer. Giles is surprised to find out that the Dukes top mechanic is a woman, and none other than Felicity Sutton. A romance begins.

Will they overcome the differences in classes? Will their love be strong enough?

Erica Ridley’s style of writing is a pleasure to read and one cant help but adore the characters from the Wicked Dukes Club series.

Book Rating: 4

I’ve been a fan of Erica Ridley’s romance books and this one is a definite must read! It’s a little different than your expected regency historical romance. The main character, Felicity, is a female who masquerades as a male to race curricles and she has also become an expert mechanic. Because her family is titled, no one can find out about her hobby because that is not what a lady does. Obviously, Lady Felicity is a bit eccentric, which makes the story that much more enjoyable.
Giles Langford is out other protagonist. He is a master mechanic, who has the best smithy in town. He is well known for winning all the races and for apprenticing orphans - not to mention he is quite handsome. Felicity meets Giles after her brother, the Duke, asks him to come over to look at his carriage. As they meet in the stables, sparks fly. Then tension in the story comes from whether or not the class divisions can be overcome to create their version of happily ever after. Expect the unexpected in this story. I had a lot of fun reading it and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys regency historical romances.

I really loved this story. I knew Felicity was a spitfire from her introduction in another book but she was simply amazing in this one. It was funny to see Giles a big strapping man become putty in Felicity’s hand. Thank you for letting me read this great book

To date, I have read most books in this switch off novella series including Darcy Burke’s One Night of Scandal and One Night of Surrender and Erica Ridley’s One Night for Seduction and One Night of Passion. I have liked them all to varying degrees, but this latest one by Ridley, One Night to Remember, is my favorite.

Why? Delicious and sexy hero and Curricle King Giles who a feminist ally…and Lady Felicity, a woman who has had to masquerade as a boy and is now a highly skilled coach racing mechanic. I just adored the sweet interaction between the two, the novelty of a Regency era lady mechanic, and the true romance that forms between these otherwise unlikely loves.

Most of the conflict is the will they/won’t they variety focused on their class differences. If you have read the other Wicked Dukes books and met Lady Felicity, you already know she is a bit eccentric by Regency standards. But when we meet her again in this novella, she is determined to make a match. Preferably a wealth peer who will agree to support her desires to start a children’s charity. She has decided to stop doing the things she loves (working on coaches and wearing breeches) for the greater good.

Meanwhile, her brother the Duke (who go his HEA in One Night for Seduction) has made a wager and need the Curricle King to race his suped up curricle that Lady Felicity has been modifying. Giles is driven also by a passion for mentoring others, and to make his father’s smithy a smashing success. As a customer of the Wicked Dukes, many of his clients are lords…as well as many of the race opponents.

After a tough batch of books (thus the lag in posted reviews), I was so happy to quickly fall in love with the MCs and their love story. And grateful it was on the shorter side and only took a couple of hours to read.

I suppose a reader might complain a bit about the anachronisms/prochronisms and the feminist bent, but I found it was just what I needed to soothe my soul after a tough week. It features a Lady wrenching in the mews. So, at a minimum, its eyebrow raising. And Giles is a feminist ally who encourages her to wear trousers and support lady mechanic apprentices. Its boundary pushing territory that I think will push some readers over. Especially if they are wanting a Dukish, glittering ballroom, tittering behind fans sort of Regency. But if you are having one of those weeks where a deep breath isn’t helping you push through the patriarchy, this book might help.

This was on the sweeter side, so not a pants on fire/feelings read, so if you are looking to set your bed on fire give this one a pass until you need something a bit more gentle.

I adored it, want more of it, and would recommend to those looking for a feminist leaning fun novella that features MCs from different classes finding love.

5 out of 6 Racing mad MCs find each other and love, despite class differences

One Night to Remember by Erica Ridley is the fifth book in the Wicked Dukes Club series and features an unconventional heroine - Lady Felicity "Felix" Sutton- and a delicious hero - Giles Langford.

Felicity is a "lady smithy" who loves to wear trousers and work on carriages, an unusual occupation for the sister of Caleb, Duke of Colehaven. Caleb wants to give Felicity all they didn't have growing up before he unexpectedly inherited his title, but she wants more than just wealth and title. Felicity wants to "share the riches" and needs a partner who will help her improve the lives of poor children.

Giles is a legend in the racing sphere who is known as the Curricle King. When Caleb is challenged to a race, he hires Giles to prepare and race his curricle with one caveat which shocks Giles. Caleb's "mechanical artisan" will assist Giles in preparing the curricle, and Giles learns that Felicity is his new partner.

They decide on rules and feel that their temporary "partnership" shouldn't affect their lives, but love never follows the rules. As their attraction blossoms and they bond over their shared interests, Felicity comes to the realization that Giles is the partner and love she wants above all else.
