I have missed Maeve Binchy novels since she passed away and have re-read every one. I think I have found a new author on a par with the fabulous Ms. Binchy!

I absolutely loved this book ! It’s very relatable and I think it could be just like any street in any town. It’s set in Pine Road in Dublin and it seems to be one of these new private developments where the street names follow a theme, in this case trees.

So there’s a small group of women, all with different backgrounds who have a WhatsApp group. Sort of a modern neighbourhood watch but mainly for gossip. The characters are very relatable and you almost feel part of the group from the first page.

It is very witty and definitely laugh out loud in many places. However there are several stories that are serious and the main character Martha, certainly doesn’t have a funny backstory. The book starts with Martha and her family relocating from Limerick to Dublin under hushed circumstances, which aren’t long in coming out.
A really enjoyable book, I look forward to the next one from Eithne Shortall.

I enjoyed this book. I found it entertaining although the beginning of the story was in the form of a WhatsApp group conversation and I was a bit concerned the whole book would be in that format. It isn't. But the WhatApp group is relevant.

As you would expect there is a lot of gossip between the residents, often via WhatsApp. It's one of those streets where appearances are everything. There is much speculation especially where newly arrived residents are concerned.

I found it very funny at times but heartbreaking too. There are pushy neighbours; nosey neighbours; some people who would rather keep their background to themselves; some who are desperate to belong; and some who turn out to be troubled. Not everything is quite as it seems.

There is quite a lot going on with the different family/character relationships but it's an easy read if you can get your head round all the characters. As the story progresses you get to know the residents and learn a bit more of their backgrounds.

A funny, warm-hearted,, entertaining read.

Life on Pine Road is certainly never dull. Secrets and lies, and the occasional truths play out behind each door, the whispers on Whatsapp for the privileged few adding fuel to the fire.

The main focus is on three characters; a mother desperate to keep her family’s secret safe; another woman desperate to become a mother, and another mother who has had to move herself and her young son back in with her parents. There are other interesting characters too; one who is rather protective of his land; two women who are vying for control over everyone else; and the spouses and families of our main heroines.

Some of the story is played out through a WhatsApp conversation, which is very funny but which at times is a little confusing as I found it hard to keep up with who’s who.

On the whole it was an entertaining read.

I really wasn't sure about this book at the beginning, I had mentioned to a few people I had been struggling. I think my reading of a few chapters here and there wasn't allowing me to fully immerse myself in the activities of Pine Road. Had I read larger chunks when I started the book, I think we would have got on much better. I certainly would have dealt with the many smaller characters better - there were so many!

By the midway point I was more interested in the lives of the three main characters on the street. They were believable, each with their own faults and problems. They were nosy neighbours all interested in each other, the same as most roads are. Although if my road has a Whatsapp group, I'm definitely not in it!

Would I say this book gripped me? Not totally. I was interested to see what secrets were being hidden and how the story panned out but I didn't really connect with the characters themselves.

Overall a well written book following three ordinary neighbours all with their own families and secrets.

Oh I did enjoy this book I must say...
I found it very different and completely unique in having a What's App group for the residents of a particular street.
We meet such an array of beautiful characters in this book and all so completely different.
Carmel's wicked sense of humour won me over immediately.
The chat between herself and her daughter Robin was quite entertaining at times and did give me some laugh out loud moments.
What about Martha, her husband Robert and their two girls? What is this family hiding?
Edie and her husband Daniel seemed to have their life sorted. All that's missing is a much longed for family.
I found it a little confusing at the beginning if I'm honest trying to get my head around all the characters but once you do, you become completely immersed in their lives, their secrets and the trials & tribulations of living in a close neighbourhood.
It's a hugely entertaining and witty read.
You will laugh alot, cry a little but will most definitely put down this book and think "what a great read"....
Well done Eithne, thoroughly enjoyed it...

A fun read which you can devour in a day. Some interesting plot twists that lead you one way and are a welcome surprise once all is revealed.

Would recommend to others, 3.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Eithne Shortall for my free copy in exchange for review.

It was an easy ready and some buts comical too! It was interesting to read about the family moving to a new street and seeing how they interacted with the neighbours.
The secrets they find out and see is interesting especially being part of the What’s app group! I loved how day to day lives were mimicked into the story too!
Would definitely recommend this to anyone to read

This book was hard work. Too many characters, too much gossip and tittle tattle, the WhatsApp messages just added to that. I didn’t feel I was reading a book, more I was watching a soap opera. I was ready to give up half way but kept reading so I could give an honest review.

I think because it’s not my first choice of genre it just didn’t work for me. I do know lots of people who will love it though so as much as I didn’t enjoy it I would recommend it to people I know would.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

On the idyllic Pine Road, three women are looking for a fresh start...

Martha was a force of nature, but since moving to Dublin under mysterious circumstances, she can't seem to find her footing.

Robin was the 'it' girl in school. Now she's back at her parents' with her four-year-old, vowing that her ex is out of the picture for good.

Edie has the perfect life, but she longs for a baby, the acceptance of her neighbours, and to find out why her dream husband is avoiding their dream future.

The friendships of these women will change their lives forever, revealing the secrets, rivalries and scandals that hide behind every door...

This story follows the lives of the residents of Pine Road in Dublin and what a mixed bag they are, they even have their own WhatsApp group which they use to discuss their poker nights and everybody else's business in the street! I actually thought their chats were very amusing. It's a story full of secrets, lies and lots of scandal, serious for most of the book with just the right amount of humour thrown in. This was a refreshing change from my usual genre of psychological thrillers and a new author to me too. I would highly recommend it.

I would like to thank Atlantic Books Corvus for the approval and will post my review on Goodreads and Amazon.

This book wasn't what I expected at all and pleasantly surprised me.
It's set in one road in Dublin and follows the lives of women living in that neighbourhood. It's sort of along the lines of Big Little Lies. But, the format and the writing is of course very different.
There's a big element of following the story through group Whatsapp messages in the book, which some people liked and some not. I thought it was fun, and I enjoyed that dynamic element in the book. After all, it's a reality of our days.
Maybe it's not as deep as Moriarty's books in terms of characterisation, but I certainly had fun and for that reason it worked for me.
Thanks a lot to NetGalley and Corvus for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sadly for me this is a DNF far too much going on too many characters none of which I could relate to or even like so at 30% I sadly had to stop I will not be posting any public reviews

Pine Road is the setting for Three Little Truths. It's a small community with its own gossip spreading WhatsApp group chat. The main action centres around three female residents, Martha, Edie and Robin. All with their own problems, secrets and lies. Martha and her family have moved to Pine Road after a traumatic break in. Edie is desperate for a baby, but her husband Daniel is hiding something that makes him reluctant to commit to starting a family. Robin has left behind her feckless ex and the father of her son Jack, and is trying to start a new life. As the three women become friends and as we learn more about the secrets each is hiding, Three Little Truths shows us the damage lies can do, the importance of friendship, and the lessons that facing the truth can teach us. Ultimately hope triumphs over adversity for all these strong female characters, and the saying that 'home is where the heart is' was made for this sweet and heart-warming story.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, and it definitely won’t be the last!

The story is set in Pine Road, a residential street that’s a close community. Neighbours are in and out of each other’s houses, they have WhatsApp chat groups, and they all know everyone else’s business.

Martha, Robin, and Edie are the three main characters. Martha and Edie are new to Pine Road, and Robin is returning (with her small son) to her parents’ home. They all have secrets and we gradually find them out, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way.

I’ve always loved books by female Irish authors, or set in Ireland, and Three Little Truths fitted the bill nicely. An enjoyable read that I’d highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atlantic Books for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

Very good. Eithne Shortall is fastly becoming one of my favourite authors as her stories are so different. This story is based around a cul-de-sac and its inhabitants and the politics that is suburban life. Even though on the surface the story seems simple to start with the author changes pace so suddenly you don't see it coming and even then it changes once more. Recommend.

I’m not sure what I found hard work about this book but it took me ages to finish it. There are a lot of characters and I didn’t like any of the WhatsApp bits as they seemed not to add anything of any use to the plot.
I suppose the book is supposed to be a bit like a Liane Moriarty but it failed to be anywhere near as interesting as any of hers.

Eithne Shortall took me straight to Pine Road, Dublin and into the lives of the residents. It was like being a fly on the wall or one of the curtain-twitching homeowners spying on her neighbours, and I loved it.

You are immediately introduced to Martha, the newest resident; Robin, who has moved back in with her parents with her son; and Edie, a lonely woman who is desperate to make friends with her neighbours and yearning to start a family; as well as a whole host of colourful characters from the Head Teacher at the local secondary school to the Chair of the Parents Association. There is definitely more than one character that you can identify with and will remind you of someone you know.

Although there are some serious issues being explored in this novel there is also a lighthearted, humorous side which I adored, especially the WhatsApp group messages. I loved how the story developed and I must confess I didn't predict any of the events that occurred which added to my enjoyment of the book. I found myself totally immersed within the lives of these women and enjoyed how the novel unfolded.

I highly recommend this book, especially if you are already a fan of Eithne Shortall, Lianne Moriarty or Jane Fallon.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atlantic Books for a copy of this e-book.

After enjoying reading Grace after Henry, I was eager to read the new novel by Eithne Shortall.

This is mainly set in one road in Dublin, following the lives of the women, especially via their group Whats app messages. There were lots of interesting elements to the story, however this didn't capture my imagination in the same way as Grace after Henry did.

Thank you to NetGalley and Corvus for a digital ARC in return for a honest review.

Wow .. this is a read-and-a-half! With so much going on, I found myself immersed in a multi-genre novel with a serious side which also provided so much opportunity for laughter!

Set in a cul-de-sac in the Dublin suburbs, this is the story of neighbours, the ups and downs of their families -- and oh, so much more! There are a good mix of people from all walks of life, most of whom are harbouring their own secrets but what they have in common is wanting to be the first to find out all about the new family who have come to live in their midst. Who are they, where have the come from and why have they chosen to move into the much sought after Pine Road?

This is a novel with everything going for it! There is a bit of crime, a helping of mystery, a few solid friends and a wide sprinkling of people from across the board - some who think they are superior to others along with those just desperate to fit it. There is some very clever plotting at hand and more than a few surprises along the way. What seems to be, on the surface, a simple and straightforward read is a book full of revelations and surprises which had me giggling in the most unexpected places! This is one of those books that I want to shout about from the rooftops and make sure everyone reads! Skilfully crafted and fabulously entertaining so it'll be no surprises that I'm giving this one a full house of stars.

My thanks to publisher Corvus for my copy via NetGalley. As always, all given opinions are completely honest and entirely my own.
