Noah and the Great Big Boat by Antonia Woodward is a beautiful children's book. The illustrations are fun and the authors way with words kept my children on the edge of their seats as they listened to me read the story. I love that the author kept to the biblical account of Noah and the flood. This book would make a wonderful gift for any child.

I'm not a religious person but it's a cute story, whether you are a believer or not. I love the illustrations and the simplicity of the wording. Easy for all ages to follow along.

What I Loved: The illustrations were perfect. The animals were interesting and drew our attention. My daughter specifically liked the Lions, but they were all great.

How I Felt: The writing made the story easy for a child to understand. My 6 year old was very interested in this book, and asked if there were more books like this story. She wanted to know more.

To Read or Not To Read: This is a great book for a pre-k to young elementary school child. It is a christian-based book and would be great for church libraries and nurseries.

What’s This Book About Anyway?
Noah is asked by God to build a boat. Noah works on it and then it is finished. God sends two of each animal to Noah to fill the boat. Once all the animals are there, it rains for 40 days and 40 nights. The boats saves the animals and Noah’s family. Once the rain stops, the must look for land to start over on.

I LOVE Atonia Woodward’s books. This is the story of Noah and his ark as it is found in the Bible.

While true to the original, it is written in child appropriate language. Most illustrations cover the whole spread and manage to be stunning and super cute at the same time. The words and the pictures make a perfect combination. I’m a huge fan. I cannot say how much I love Woodward’s books and I'm definitely going to buy more of them!

If you want to introduce little ones to the Bible, Antonia’s books are perfect for younger children, age 2-4, I’d say.

Thank you NetGalley and Lion Hudson Ltd for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Noah and the Great Big Boat is a beautiful book based on Noah's Ark. Noah makes a huge boat and invites all the animals on whilst a storm passes before they are welcomed to a beautiful new land.

The story in the book is just as I expected and is one the children enjoyed as they love seeing all of the different animals on the boat, it was lovely to see such a wide range of animals in the pictures and the children loved spending a few minutes deciding which one they like the best!

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous with such beautiful pictures of all the animals and the land. I thought it was brilliant how some pages were darker or gloomier looking which represented what was happening in the story fantastically and this is always great in books as the children can see the page is looking a little sadder and really understand what the feelings are.

Something I loved, but the children were too young to notice, was just how brilliant the writing was on each page with words like smaller being small and faster being in italic so it looks like it's fast. I thought this was a very clever way to show the words and would be great for older children to see.

Having read other Noah's Ark books I think this is by far my favourite and one the children loved. A classic story with the most beautiful illustrations, definitely worth a read!

This simple, easy to understand version of the story of Noah and the ark is super cute! I loved the pictures and my kids did too. It’s easy to read with animation and makes the story even more attractive for little ones. A great introduction to Bible stories for little ones!

This is a cute retelling of the story of Noah's Ark. I liked this book, the illustrations and the simple language for young children to understand. I have read other children's versions of this story and always cringed a bit when it showed the other people that did not get on the ark. I also liked the explanation of the animals flocking to Noah, instead of him having to go out and locate them. My grandkids both liked this story. They have heard Noah's story, so were familiar with it. They tried to name all the animals they saw and then we ended up singing "Rise & Shine" a song about Noah they learned at VBS. This is a great book for a family, church or Sunday School library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

Noah and the Great Big Boat is another delightful updated Bible story for children by Antonia Woodward. This is the second book I have read by this author. It is truly a perfect gift book for a child. The author gives the Biblical reference for those who wish to have a closer look at the original account. This version stays true to that account while also putting it in terms that children can easily understand.

It is a book that is aimed at children but a wide range of age would enjoy it. Parents who read it to young children would be like me impressed with the artwork as well as the simple retelling. Primary children would have no problems reading it or comprehending this story on their own.

I have seen several Noah’ Ark books over the years but none that I liked better than this one. Another paperback book to go on my grandchildren’s gift list.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

A beautiful, colourful account of the story of Noah with child friendly language and text of differing sizes to really draw the reader in. The good earth has bright colours, while the bad place it has become is reflected with dull colours and angry faces fighting over a teddy bear. The well known story is retold with exciting vocabulary that could get children talking and with familiar animals depicted.
I would not hesitate to use this translation in school for RE lessons or collective worship, and will look out for others by the same author.

The illustrations in this book are stunning. My kids and I loved the layout, with the text flowing throughout the illustrations. Noah and the Great Big Boat was engaging, sharing the story of Noah without boring my children. They were entertained and asked for me to read it again...and again and again.

The story of Noah is about God making a great new day for those that have faith like Noah. This read-along is a great discussion starter with your children on the faithfulness of God and his promises. The illustrations will bring to life God's goodness in creation and renewal. I think this would be make a great devotional with your children as well.
