Bran is a rock star with a stalker who doesn't want a bodyguard so his manager hires Julia to be his "assistant". Small and delicate looking Julia doesn't look like a bodyguard but she's lethal. They try to keep their relationship professional but their attraction is too strong. The stalker is getting more dangerous and Bran is worried about Julia. What will happen when he finds out she lied to him about her job? Lots of action and romance make this a great romantic suspense read!
Julia Slate, security agent at Wilde Securities, has been assigned to be a bodyguard for rock star, Bran Copper. It seems Bran has a dangerous stalker who is escalating the attacks against him. When someone close to him is injured, he decides to head home to his mountain hideaway to write music until the matter is resolved. Julia is not happy about the assignment as she is not fond of bad boy rock stars. Making the assignment even more difficult, Bran does not want a bodyguard, so Julia will be undercover as his assistant…he doesn’t want one of those either. When Julia shows up at his door, he tries to get rid of her but she talks her way in to the job. As they both begin to have feelings that can’t be denied, the attacks against him continue and the danger is closer than they realize. A thrilling romantic suspense with good writing and strong characters. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
This is one fun, wild, action filled read that kept me going until I realized I had read the whole thing in one sitting! I absolutely LOVED it all!
When rock star, Bran Copper, has a stalker and refuses a security detail, Julia is sent in undercover as his personal assistant. She doesn’t like rock stars, she doesn’t particularly like Bran, and she definitely doesn’t like the way he makes her feel. Her job is to protect him but he’s making it difficult when he keeps trying to protect her.
Despite being delicate in stature, Julia was one tough heroine. She was feisty and smart and could totally kick butt. It was fun watching her play shy and demure with Bran, manipulating him into allowing her to stay. What was even more enjoyable was watching her fall for someone she thought was the complete antithesis of who she wanted.
”But…he was like the fire. So hot. Burning bright. Out of control. Dangerous.
Gorgeous.
Terrifying.”
Once more this author gives me the type of hero I adore. Bran was determined that Julia was not going to get hurt and every action he took was a step in trying to ensure that outcome. Fierce, loyal, and possessive, he was the perfect hero and I loved him for his need to protect those around him.
”Baby…” His voice was too much of a growl. Way too rough, but that was how he felt. Far too rough around her. She seemed fragile and too breakable while he was rough and dangerous.”
I’m not a huge rock star romance fan. They tend to get into elements I don’t enjoy. That was not the case with this book. Taking place outside a small community in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are never caught up in the rock lifestyle, and for that I am thankful. The way Bran lived his life and his music are certainly a big part of the story but it doesn’t consume it.
This story has so much action and drama, it almost felt as though I was watching it on a widescreen. And it would totally translate! The relationship between Bran and Julia was delicious. They both address their feelings in an adult manner, actually communicating. Imagine that! The chemistry between them from the first moment they met was completely believable and the steam was absolutely sizzling.
This book starts off with a great pace and only escalates as it progresses. There is never an opportunity for it to bog down as things are constantly moving forward. The secondary characters are phenomenal and I was shocked when the villain was revealed. With a sweet little epilogue to wrap things up, I ended this with a satisfied smile and the knowledge that there would be more Wilde Ways books on the horizon.
Wow!
Insta-love followed by an insane roller coaster ending in an awesome HEA.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
Even after reading the description of the book, I was still stunned by this story. It is wonderfully written and left me guessing the whole time.
