Many thanks to Boldwood Books and Nina Manning for the opportunity to read and review this book. The Daughter in Law was absolutely gripping. I loved this book and can't praise it enough. Ben meets Daisy on a night out and quickly falls pregnant. When Daisy meets Annie, Ben's mother she is far from welcoming. A weird mother son relationship is unveiled and Daisy discovers Ben has had a very weird childhood. Daisy herself has her own secrets and when she finds herself alone and dependant on her mother in law, she doesn't know who to trust or what to believe. A page Turner until the the very last page. A must read.
Holy cow!!!! What did i just read???? This book is a psychological thriller unlike anything I have read. And it’s the authors debut novel??? How in the heck did she come up with this stuff? My heart is still pounding! This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. I could not figure out what was happening next and I could not put this down till I read it all. It had me guessing until the very end!! And boy oh boy what an ending it was!!! I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review. Just plan on devouring this book in record time! 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ from me!
Holy cow. Wow. Right from the beginning, you know something is wrong, terribly wrong, with Annie and Ben but what it is, you can't quite grasp. I had all kinds of images going through my head about what was going to happen and what everything could mean but I was dead wrong about them all.
I focused on the wrong details but even still, I'm not sure I could have ever seen this one coming. I don't think there was anything that quite gave it away. Wow. It's rare for a book to take such a completely, drastically different turn than I even imagined.
As rare as it is, this does happen! I've read enough true crime books to know that this does happen and like Ben, they do occasionally find out or finally break free. This was insane to get the perspective of the mad woman, herself, and the damage she can do to so many people.
And then it begs the question, do people like that ever stop or are they like Annie, looking for the next possible chance to get what they've always longed for? I truly thought this was going to take a much darker, sinister turn than it did but after reading it, I'm so glad it went the way that it did. This was fascinating and one I couldn't put down. I needed to know what was going to happen. It was boiling up but just of reach every single time I thought I might finally figure it out.
And Grace's chapters threw me off so many times. I couldn't figure out their significance at first and then by the time I did realize it, I still didn't grasp who they were and why. The same went for the previous life of Daisy before we knew her. I was expecting all kinds of terrible things. Not that.
This was so well put together and so insanely well thought out. Not a single clue was given to the reader. I literally had to live out this life as if I were Daisy, not knowing what was coming next. But at the same time, with the innate knowledge of the inside workings of Annie's head, to know that something was terribly, terribly wrong but that it was only the beginning because once that baby got here, it could only be worse.
This book will keep you screaming for Daisy to get out. Run! This is the mother-in-law that nightmares are made from. You will not be able to put this down!
The only thing I wish was different is the cover. It doesn't seem to fit the image of the beach house or Daisy's apartment. I don't think it does the book justice. It's an intriguing and eye catching cover, just not right for this story. The house needs to look more beachy. More run down and rustic. Otherwise, this book is perfect!
The Daughter in Law by author Nina Manning is an intense and mysterious novel! It has the perfect amount of domestic mixed with some thriller/mystery! I am really enjoying this book and almost done (at 80%)! I will update when finished but based off the book this far in, I definitely recommend it!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great page turner!!! twist that i didn't see coming.. loved it. Couldn't put this one down.
Thanks to the publisher and net galley for an early release of this book.
This was a good read about the lengths a mother will go to keep her son. It’s about murder and revenge against the daughter in law. A well written descriptive story about tradgedy and redemption. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
I hate leaving slightly negative reviews but this was just far too close to
Sally Hepworth’s The Mother in Law. Not very original. Sorry cx
I am really on the crazy mother in law thriller trend. This book did it for me! The story line was believeable and thrilling enough that I couldnt put it down!
This read kept me interested all of the way through. Unfortunately, I didn't like the characters very much. Yet, that doesn't say they weren't well developed!
Daisy and Ben get pregnant after meeting each other in a bar. They marry in haste. Daisy, works at a gym and Ben is a musician who takes gigs as they become available to him. Now they live with Eve, as Daisy and Eve have been flat mates. Annie, Ben's mother, has pretty much brought Ben up to be a "mama's boy". Annie is also quite resistant to anyone who even thinks of taking her "boy" away. (Which, Daisy pretty much has done).
A fire, a death a gig across the country combined with a multitude of secrets really mess these characters up. Of course, when you become pregnant within hours of meeting someone at a bar (and decide to keep the baby) - was there time to tell damning secrets to each other?
A very good read!
Many Thanks to Boldwood Books and NtGalley for a good, fast read !
I had high hopes for the book when reading the description. Disappointed to say I found this book lacking. The flow of the story of was disjointed , which was very distracting when reading. I have to push myself to finish the book. The ending was very predictable.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced boo of the book.

I absolutely love psychological thrillers and was excited to read The Daughter In Law. However, I was disappointed in the plot & characters. I so badly wanted to like this book, but would not recommend it.
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an review of
I am here for the Sociopathic mother in law thriller trend. The book itself is nothing special, an entertaining 3, but the crazy gran took it up to 3.5
I so tried to get into the book. Halfway thru I had to give up. Sadly, it was just not going anywhere and became a chore to read.
A page turner that I couldn’t put down!!! Although it was obvious prior to 1/2 way through “who dunnit”, it didn’t matter because I couldn’t wait to find out how it played out! Great character development and back story kept this book moving at a fast pace! Thank you for the opportunity, I will definitely be reading other books from this author! Perfect for fans of The last Mrs Parrish and The Mother in Law!
This was an ok read. The writing was clunky at times and I felt the storyline a bit unbelieavable and the characters silly. It had promise but it needs reworking in many areas.
The Daughter In Law sounded like the perfect book for me but unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish it, I found it difficult to connect with the characters along with one of the most boring starts I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading.
