It’s been ages since I’ve picked up my bead weaving needle and thread. The designs in this book make me want to change that! The projects are pretty, clearly explained and use supplies that are easy to source.
Great pictures and excellent schematics. I am new to beading so I found it difficult to get the right pearls to copy the examples, so probably not the best book for beginners like myself. Some more intro pages would have helped, though the tools needed were explained well. The projects were really inspirational, so the book would be great for those with a bit more experience.
This is a very well put together book, with lots of gorgeous projects. The instructions are clear and seem easy to follow; I am admittedly an absolute beginner to stitched beadwork and have never tried to follow a pattern like the ones in this book. However, I definitely want to learn after looking at the designs in this book! I do think this is geared more toward someone who has some experience with stitching, but that's not to say a beginner couldn't make these designs, just they might want to practice a bit first. There's lots of inspiration to be found here!
#50beadedBracelets #NetGalley
50 Beaded Bracelets is a new step-by-step tutorial anthology which includes 50 bracelet designs from Interweave and Beadwork magazines. Curated by Tammy Honaman, there are designs which run the gamut from sleekly tailored to full on blingy glitz. Released 2nd July 2019 by Interweave, it's 240 pages and available in paperback format.
Each of the tutorial chapters includes a sidebar with technique information and tools and supplies. The written instructions are clear and well written along with the beautifully detailed Interweave beading diagrams. Most of the projects are made up of units which are put together to create the desired length. As such, nearly all of them can be adapted to create other pieces (earrings, necklaces, pendants, etc) to make a coordinated set. The materials lists in the individual tutorials are specific enough to allow for some judicial bead substitution if desired.
The photography is luscious and plentiful. All of the tutorials include hints and tips from the designers as well as alternate colorways and some alternate bead selections. There is a really handy designer links list included under the contributor credits which will provide hours of further inspiration.
This is a useful technique book in addition to the lovely tutorials. The beading and threading diagrams are clear enough for the beginner to learn weaving techniques as they create. All of the most common techniques are represented here such as RAW, netting, ladder stitch, peyote, and much more.
5 stars. These are gorgeous wearable pieces. Definitely a valuable addition to the beader's/crafter's library.
Very beautiful bracelets but not a good book for a beginner. You have to have some knowledge of beading and making bracelets to follow the instructions, or it is very confusing and not very basic. Definitely a good book once you have the basics to follow the patterns though and lots of lovely bracelets in here to make.
What an absolute wonderful book! The tutorials are well written, and easy to follow! I would definitely recommend this to fellow beaders.
A book with 50 projects to make jewelry with beads, which provides instructions easy to read and follow. All projects are beautiful and their appearance is of high quality. I recommend it for those who like to make jewelry.
As a beader who mostly makes bracelets, this book is a joy to behold. There is a great variety of styles and while I recognise some of the patterns there are also some that I haven’t seen before and intend to try making. I was particularly happy to see that many had beaded clasps. As I leafed through the pages I felt a bit like a kid in a sweet shop and my ‘favourite’ changed several times. The photography is fabulous and the instructions seem very clear. I just need to get my beads out and get started now.
This is a great collection of 50
beautiful beading bracelet patterns which have been collated from some of the most popular from previous editions of Beadwork magazine. It sounds cliched, but there really is a design here that would be a match for everyone’s tastes!
The patterns range in difficulty, they are not rated, but it obvious from looking at them which ones are more advanced than others. Each of them have very clear instructions, with a drawn pattern to accompany the written instructions. There are also ‘artists tips’ with each design.
Many of the designs could easily be adapted into necklaces or earrings (some designs have instructions/ tips how to do so).
I would say that it may not be for a ‘complete beginning’ to beadwork; unless they buy an accompanying book as it does assume a certain level of knowledge regarding beading. However, as it has so many designs of varying degrees of difficulty, it is perfect from anyone with a basic knowledge and a keen interest to learn more up to a very skilled beaded.
It is a wonderful book and one which will keep me busy for many hours and I will return to frequently over the coming years.
Many thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a must have for any beader! It is filled with so many great designs that run from the very simple to the very elaborate pieces. I've spotted quite a few I can't wait to get started on. There seems to be something for everyone amongst the patterns chosen for this book. Simple stitches as well as ones I would need to refresh myself on are included in the multitude of patterns. I spotted wraps, bangles and cuffs and lots more in between. A few that caught my eye also gave tips for different colorways and converting the pattern to earrings or a necklace. I was pleasantly surprised to see a kumihimo pattern in the mix with complete braiding instructions for the disc included. The designers featured include some well known and well loved folks (hello, Jill Wiseman!) The illustrated pattern instructions are clear and shouldn't be a problem for anyone familiar with beading. The material lists are clear and do not include hard to find beads. I personally like having one book bound with 50 patterns from the many issues of Beadwork magazine that they were originally offered in . I received an advanced copy for an honest review and couldn't be happier to flip through these pages. Many thanks to F & W and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this gem. Well done!
