Love this author and this novel didn’t disappoint. Fantastic characters, perfect blend of funny and sentimental. Incredible setting as always with this writer. Would definitely recommend.
A take of family, adoption and finding your place in the world. Family is not just blood, it's the people you surround yourself with, the people you want to be with and spend time with.
This book is also a love letter to New Zealand.
One Winter Morning by Isabelle Broom is a charming and emotional family drama about hope, grief and a powerful quest for self-discovery. Genie has spent years searching for the woman who gave her up as a baby, but can she make the courage to travel across the world to finally meet her? With lovable characters, beautiful descriptions and moments of joy amidst a deep longing for closure, this novel will touch your heart this winter and is the perfect pick for readers who love the stories of Hannah Beckerman, Lucy Diamond and Paige Toon.
I will not be giving feedback on this book as I couldn’t really get into it but I think others may enjoy it.
This is the perfect book to curl up with on a winter’s day. I loved following Genie’s journey, both emotional and physical, and Tui melted my heart! The descriptions of all the lovely New Zealand places brought back so many memories of when I visited (and got married!) there, and now have me dreaming of visiting again soon. Full of more than enough warmth to melt the coldest of days - this was a truly joyous, comforting read.
Another great book by this author. I loved the whole concept of the book and the characters were relatable and likeable, definitely a page turner that I couldn't put down
Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book
Unfortunately tragic things happen daily. When you read about them in the papers or hear about them on the news, your heart goes out to the victims and their families. You count your blessings that your family is still safe and sound.
But one day it’s your life that is turned upside down. It’s bad, but it’s even worse when your are convinced you are to blame.
Result: you hide away from everything and everybody until someone thinks it’s time to do something about it. You are shocked by what you are told, but also intrigued and with a few (not so small) pushes you embark on an adventure.
Will a trip to the other end of the world cure you? Will you find what you came for or does life decide to give you some extras?
I think it’s the first time I read a book taking place in New-Zealand. It’s a part of the world you don’t hear a lot about and for me it was a nice change. I was not only captivated by the beautiful story, but also by the beautiful country. If I did not dislike flying so much, I would already be busy browsing the travel guides.
I loved the story. It filled with emotions and Tui most certainly was my favourite character. I not only loved her, but I also loved the way the people surrounding her were treating her. 5 stars.
Thank you, Isabelle Broom and Penguin
What an emotional story. A true journey of self discovery, family and love.
I was deeply invested in the characters from the beginning and their story lines and development.
Very easy to read and to follow. The perfect amount of description and tension.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
I absolutely adored this book! The characters were so genuine, so real and so engaging as was the entire storyline. This is a truly fabulous book.
As always, Isabelle Broom does not disappoint! Her descriptive writing made me feel I was in the middle of New Zealand....... while the story line was so well crafted I just couldn’t put it down. A book to read and reread.....Do not lend it to friends because you won’t get it back!! Highly recommended.
I LOVED this book from start to finish, sorry for the late review!
I dont know where to begin, from the begining of genies emotions to the lunchtime at the pub, laughter and tears, i feel like i was part to Geneies life and felt every thing she did. So well written. The two main characters ate Kit and Tui and Kit is a man who knows his yin and yang a man who can understand his emotions, where many men would laugh at him for this but i think its quite great when a man shows his emotions. I loved him, i wouldnt turn him down. Then we have the vulnrable Tui who makes you see the world differently.
The descriptions of the location make you feel like you can be placed there and know of the area, so well done. New zealnad sounds great for a visit.
The story is split between two people telling their story of their own ways so you will probably think you like one of the narrators more than the other but they come together. I like it how tohe story evolved genei into who she is today.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Penguin UK and the author Isabelle Broom for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am sorry for the late review.
DNF. I couldn't connect with this book at all and found it really hard to get into. I had high hopes for this, which is a shame.
This is a truly romantic story of love lost and found.
Genie looses her adoptive mother and then sets out to find her birth mother in New Zealand.
Absolutely loved it , beautifully written
I lovely, gentle read that doesn't shy away from dealing with big themes. It has real heart, and the author's voice is authentic and compassionate. Loved it.
I struggled to get into One Winter Morning, for me it seemed slow to start and although I tried to persevere I gave up in the end. Sorry not for me.
If I had to pick my top 5 authors, Isabelle Broom would be one of them.
I can't get enough of her writing. She never disappoints.
This book felt somewhat different but I absolutely loved every page of it. Author knows how to delivery emotional punches throughout, keep you hooked and interested. One thing that you will find is amazing description of countries these books are set it and after reading this one, I feel like flying over to New Zealand now!
Loved it!
Absolutely loved this book. Page turner from page one. Made me laugh and made me cry. Highly recommended. Thanks netgalley for the advance copy to read and review honestly
One Winter Morning is one of those stories that takes you out of yourself and when you close the last page and arrive back to reality you are not the same person.
A emotional written story with a beautiful setting I found this very easy to read and couldn't stop once I had started. Isabelle Broom is a born story teller.
