A real page-turner of a thriller.
Poppy is a nanny who finds herself stranded in Ibiza after a late night sacking. To her rescue comes Drew, a rich and successful (and older) man. They are swept up in a whirlwind romance and agree that they shall look to the future and not burden themselves with questions about the past.
Their reasons for making such an agreement are gradually revealed as both harbour secrets from pasts they are desperate to escape.
Characters are convincing and the writing is well paced and easy to read. Revelations are satisfying although a few are rather easy to predict.
An author I did not recognise but I'll now be seeking out her debut and look forward to reading her future work too.
(I was given an advance copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review)

Poppy & Drew get together after a whirlwind romance and decide to marry without sharing any details of their past history. The story that unfolds is a great plot with amazing characters and an unexpected ending.
It's an enjoyable easy read, perfect to take on holiday. There is nothing terrifying however it is so well written. An author to watch. 10/10

Wow. What a fantastic novel. Had me hooked all the way through. Loved the way that was LG characters past was slowly revealed and a great ending.

This was a really brilliant read. The characters were excellent and easily imagined. In Poppy's case, we are drawn into her younger life as a parallel to the present day, where she starts out as Agnes, a shy and inexperienced girl who is taken into the heart of the Walker family with, very sadly, horrific results. Both she and Drew were fascinating together, I particularly liked the descriptions of the house, I could feel the underlying menace that surrounded Poppy. Gina, I felt, was a little less rounded, as a character despite us being told numerous times about her endless legs and long limbs. I couldn't put this book down, although I obviously had to, and by the time I was getting close to the end I was desperate to find out the book's conclusion. I recommend it highly.

I really enjoyed this book I didn’t really like the characters but they worked with the story a story of how one person can change who you are and not always for the better I would recommend this book!!

The cover on this book was really enticing. I believed i was going to really love this. I liked it but i couldnt say i loved it.

Romantic tale, gorgeous man meets perfectly ordinary woman, what can possibly go wrong? Well, pretty much everything!!, if a guy makes you “agree “ that there will be no questions asked you pretty much know that there are lots of questions to be asked and asked quickly!
Read for yourself and decide

A very good novel filled with twists, turns and unexpected revelations. Not at all what I expected after reading the first few chapters, which seemed fairly mundane and formulaic. Things got interesting fairly fast after that and I was astonished by the surprise ending!

I really wanted to like this book and it had a super compelling opening and premise but I just found it hard to follow and didn't really engage with the characters unfortunately.

Thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Poppy gets fired from her nanny job in the middle of the night in Ibiza, where the family was on holiday. She goes to the bar where she meets Drew. After a month together, they get married and return to England with an agreement not to talk about their pasts which suits Poppy because she has some secrets in her past.
3.5 stars.
This book was a little slow for me. We get occasional flashbacks to a previous nannying job Poppy had that we know couldn’t have ended well but we don’t know what happened until the end of the book. Meanwhile Poppy can sense that there is something off about the 8 bedroom house that Drew has bought for them and starts to uncover some minor clues that things aren’t exactly as they seem. When the secrets were finally revealed I was a bit underwhelmed and probably would have given this book a flat 3 stars but there was a twist at the end that caused me to give it 3.5 rounded to 4 because I didn’t see it coming at all.

If you think this is a run of the mill love story -think again. There are sinister undertones right from the start .
Poppy meets Drew who is 15 years her senior . She has just been dismissed from her post as a nanny whilst on holiday with her employers in Ibiza and he sweeps her off her feet. They make a pact not to discuss any events from their past and to only look towards the future.
.Drew is just too good to be true -handsome -loving -caring -and rich and after a whirlwind romance ,they marry and settle down in a large house in the country .
But do they live happily ever after ??
You just know something is coming and at times I wished it would hurry up -but that only adds to the suspense .
A great read !
Thankyou NetGalley for an ARC in return for an honest review

I found this a refreshing read that I would recommend to anyone. An excellent debut I almost feel like it needs a sequel

Could you meet the perfect man when you are at your lowest point and agree with him never to discuss your past? To start fresh from this moment forward
How will it work? Surely your friends or his will talk about your past
Is it safer to keep your past hidden and never ask him about his?
I think a relationship between 2 adults is their business or is it friends will drop hints won't they?
Lies or secrets which will Drew and Poppy choose ?

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book and I really enjoyed it. Well written. Not my usual style but very refreshing. Didn't guess the story line at all can full recommend this book.

A gripping story that spans between past and present uncovering lots of secrets. Well worth a read. I recommend it

This is the first book I have read from this author and it’s not what I usually read. But it was truly excellent. The writing was great. The story was captivating and very enjoyable.
I f you haven’t read it. I would strongly suggest you do. It’s a love story that’s almost a mystery.
It’s about a girl named Poppy who is a Nanny that is 28 years. She meets Drew who is over 10 years older. After 3 weeks he proposes. They make a pact not to discuss each other’s pasts. But Drew has secrets. The story goes to the present then the past of Poppies earlier Nanny job.
Drew truly loves Poppy and you can feel his adoration towards her. But the pact is eating Poppy alive. Do yourself a favour and read this great book
4 1/2 stars great job.

Many thanks to Random House and Rebecca Reid for the opportunity to read and review this book. Truth Hurts was an intriguing book that had me captivated from early on. Poppy has been working as a nanny and recently fired after being mistreated. She hides a secret. She meets up with Drew who also hides a secret about his past. They both agree to move on from the past and build a life together, but is the past about to come back to haunt them.

I found the book engrossing and couldn’t put it down! The story between Poppy and Drew was a delight to read.
I think the novel deserves a sequel especially so we can see how the characters Poppy and Drew develop! Loved reading this.

Thanks net galley for an early copy of this very different and interesting story.
Poppy and Drew met each other when Poppy was fired from her job as a nanny, and Drew came to her rescue.
Drew had plenty of money and he and Poppy moved in together.
They then decided to get married but drew told poppy that they must not ask each other what happened before they met.
They both had secrets and it was decided to keep to their secrets.
But Poppy wanted to know more, and when Gina her friend came to stay she got to know secrets about Drew.
Then the story got interesting and poppy found out more about Drew, and their house they were living in, a wedding present from Drew.
I enjoyed this story very much.

Now this is a thrilling novel! At the start I felt like it was a sequel and I'd missed something but I was wrong. It begins at the end in a wonderful way and the story unfolds before your very eyes. It's unguessable, unbelievable and just like the main characters, is too good to be true.
Fantastic twists and turns, a perfect blend of modern thrills and past confines.
