Blimey, just read this book in one sitting. Kept me hooked from the first to the very last pages.
Poppy is working as a nanny with a family who are holidaying in Ibiza. After her employer returns late they argue. Poppy then finds herself kicked out and sacked Sat in a bar drowning her sorrows she meets Drew. What follows is a whirlwind romance. He’s disgustingly wealthy and incredibly handsome.. Best of all he wants the to start a life from the day they met. Not to bring the past and baggage to the relationship.
To Poppy this seems perfect as she’s nursing a secret. But why does Drew want to keep his past in the past.
Absolutely fabulous book and a must read

So I really enjoyed the book. It was well written absorbing and interesting. It started off as a romance with a dashing rich man whirling a young poor girl off her feet. The only complaint I have is the reason why he chose her. It just seemed... Odd.

Wow, once I picked this book up I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. I was swept up in the tale of Poppy and Drew, intrigued by their relationship and the story unfolding in the present and in the past. There were twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and I loved every single word. Really well written and completely absorbing.

A story with plenty of action and suspense. This was a good read overall but a bit unbelievable in places.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Enjoyable page turner. Good characters. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing. Well written. Would definitely read her next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Truth Hurts is the second Rebecca Reid novel I have read and it was every bit as good as Perfect Liars.
This is amazing unique story that gripped me from the start and I couldn't put it down.
A superb psychological thriller, the author made this book come alive, The writing is excellent, the story intruiging and the characters were well developed and so interesting. A real page-turner!
I’m looking forward to reading more by Rebecca Reid.

Loved this - truly original - well written and compulsive reading
Couldn't put this down - a fantastic read for the summer

‘Perfect Lies’, Rebecca Reid’s first book was brill, this is as brill if not briller!!
Poppy is a Nanny to a formidable family who basically treat her terrible, one night she has had enough and leaves......basically homeless and penniless she meets Drew
Drew is yummy, perfect, rich and a gentleman
They fall instantly in love and decide to marry
Everything is perfect
Well, these things do happen, don’t they?...
We find out they dont!
Drew has a past, we dont know what it is or what happened in it but it is alluded to all the way through
Now re read the last sentence but add Poppy instead of Drew!
With the help of Gina, Poppy’s bezzie and some abhorrent rich friends who come to stay at their new house ( abhorrently wonderful it has to be said ) it looks like we might get some answers
And then.....
And that’s it as far as plot goes as what happens next is sooooo bad but sooooo good for the reader!
Cleverly narrated with some chapters going back to Poppy’s former life the ‘want’ to know who these 2 really are and what they are hiding had me excited and eager to find out the truth behind these 2
Wonderfully descriptive, I wanted to move into Poppy and Drew’s new home and experience their lives and all the trappings that came with it, this book is a clever and captivating psychological thriller that teases the whole way through
10/10

I enjoyed Rebecca's first book Perfect Liars but the honest truth is this novel puts that one firmly in the shade because Truth Hurts is absolutely, hands down, the best book I have read so far this year.
It took me 3 days to read it. I literally couldn't put it down and found myself sloping off to the bathroom to try and sneak in a few extra minutes of reading time a day. I am not going to write you a synopsis of the story as everyone else does that and you can read it in book description but I can tell you that the twist at the end totally took me by surprise.
Rebecca leads you along with one story where you feel like you know what it happening and you are rooting for Poppy to be OK and then right at the very last minute she floors you with the ugly nasty truth and I love it. If you like a mystery/thriller which will have you turning the pages right to the very last one then this book is for you.

When Poppy finds herself thrown out by her employer in the middle of the night whilst abroad with the family she has no idea what she's going to do next. As if my magic her white knight appears in the shape of 'Drew', impossibly good looking, wealthy and available and she finds herself drawn into a heady whirlwind romance.
Sounds too good to be true? Of course it is!
I don't read romances and this isn't one, its a well plotted thriller than drew me in from the opening pages. I found myself invested in the characters, intrigued by Drew and wanting to know more about his background at the same time wanting to shake Poppy and tell her to take a reality check.
I found myself turning the pages late into the night, just a couple more pages turned into a couple more chapters....
Totally recommended, this novel flows well and was the perfect holiday read - easy to get caught up in during that boring plane journey and perfect for a day by the pool.

This was a great read. It was very unique and I read this in ne sitting.
It is a mysterious novel with plenty of twists and turns.
I did not really know where the story was going. Which is such a great achievement as a lot of books are becoming quire predictable.
This book will stay with me for a while.
I will be looking for more by the same author.

Truth Hurts by Rebecca Reid 🖤

Wow! What an amazing story. An original and really unique tale, nothing like I’ve read before, which is a great achievement for an author in this genre.

The story begins with Poppy, who has literally lost everything, her job, her home and is estranged from her family. Poppy meets Drew and they very quickly fall in love. Everything is perfect and when Drew proposes to Poppy, there is only one condition, they never talk about their past to one another. Seems simple right? And it is for a while. But what is Drew hiding? Why does he not want to talk about his past? And is it just Drew who has secrets?

An incredibly well written and mysterious story. I couldn’t read it fast enough. The synopsis is intriguing but there is so much more to this story, including the creepy house with the unknown past that Drew buys as a wedding present. This book has everything a good psychological thriller should have. Amazing. Five stars xxx

I found Truth Hurts fast paced, action packed and very interesting. Imagine marrying someone within a month and then not talking your past again!? No neither can I! While I really enjoyed the storyline it wasn’t believable but a great little summer read.

Really enjoyed this novel. Excellent storyline build up and fascinating characters bring this story to life. I will definitely reading more books by this talented author.

Rebecca Reid’s first novel, Perfect Liars, was a terrific read. Truth Hurts is just as good, if not better.
Poppy, a nanny, is on her uppers, fired by her horrible employer in the middle of the night while on holiday in Ibiza. An apparently terrible situation turns into a huge stroke of luck, though, when she meets Drew and the two fall almost instantly in love. Whirlwind romance ensues, but Drew has secrets and so does Poppy. A deal never to talk about the past has benefits for both. But when they return to the UK, things start to get strange.
It doesn’t sound so original described like that, but it’s an excellent read which kept me thoroughly engaged, particularly via the believable characters of Poppy and her friend Gina, with an ending on a note of darkness which I never saw coming. Events in the present are interspersed with “before” - again, a standard technique in psychological thrillers, but worked well. While we learn more about Poppy, Drew remains largely a mystery throughout, as indeed he is to his new wife. While there were a couple of things which in retrospect didn’t quite make sense to me, it didn’t detract in any way from my enjoyment. Many thanks for the opportunity to read and review!
