I enjoyed the book but had worked out what was happening quite early on so the reveal wasn't as shocking as it should have been and I was also disappointed with the ending. Guess I wanted more!

A well paced book with well developed characters. I sort of guessed the plot from about 40% in. However, this didn't deter from being a very enjoyable read.

When I first started this book, I was afraid that it was going to be a rewrite of the same story. Only because it was written by the brilliant Moriarty did I push past the first couple of pages and boy am I glad I did.
This is a brilliantly written story of the terrifying situations that can happen when girls meets boy. Each character is full of depth and has their own believable background

Georgia is currently in a good place, she is enjoying her work as a nurse and we meet her when she is waiting for her date organised through a dating app. Obviously slightly nervous sitting in a bar when two men hit on her and she is about to head off home when her knight in shining armour appears. Luke is her ideal, he too has been stood up: and so it begins!

The trouble is when you are a more mature reader and not really into all the social media, your approach to this premise is already slightly slewed. ‘No, no, no’ rebounds in my head. It can’t be right following right behind. Having said that I did enjoy the book it was well constructed even though I knew just what would happen. Smug or what? Clearly I didn’t know all the plot, but there you are.

Great book. Really well worth reading: tense, exciting.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

This ARC was courtesy of netgalley- all thoughts and opinions are mine and unbiased

I've read novels by the author's sister, Liane Moriarty, so was thrilled to be able to read this.

I really enjoyed it - couldn't put down until I'd finished it.

I loved the writing style- it was interesting to read from different angles - very well put together and done, I thought.

Great characters. Lots of twists and turns which I liked.

I did figure out what was happening fairly early on but absolutely loved the 'reveal' elements in the second half of the books - lots of surprises

A good read. A bit predictable and a bit slow in places but a good read overall.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I don’t know if it’s because I read a lot of books from this genre or if it’s the way it’s written but I guessed a lot of the twists from the beginning. It’s a good, fast paced read and the characters are well written.

This was a brilliant read- one of the best I've read this year. There was a lot of suspense and you cared about the characters at different points. I liked that you got to see the plot from both 'girlfriend' parts. Read it in practically one sitting. Highly recommended!

This was my first book from this author and I loved it. I will definitely read more. This book was a great mix of romance, creepiness and a crazy stalking Ex. Fabulous. A good fun read that still kept me on the edge of my seat and had so many twists, that absolutely blew my mind! Fab. Five stars xxx

I was a bit disappointed by this novel. It took a while to get going and I didn't really engage with any of the characters. I felt the plot line was predictable and this wasn't the most original take on this scenario sadly.

I read this book in one sitting!!! I love Nicola Moriarty's writing style and the creation of her characters. One thing that stood out for me was the meeting between Luke and Georgia but I soon forgot about it. I loved the twists in this book, really great reading.

A gripping read with lots of twists and turns ... Luke appears to be the perfect boyfriend meeting Georgia by chance when she gets stood up - a whirlwind romance follows with only one problem The Ex ..... Cadence is the ex and the first part of the book sets her up as the revengeful ex but all is not as it seems. I loved this book especially as it tells it the story from different perspectives ... one of the best books I’ve read in a while

A book of twists and turns, that eventually shares the plot from different viewpoints. So believable, and scary.
How often do you expect your past to catch up with you, with such disastrous consequences.

Grace gets. stood up on a blind date with Brett, but whilst deciding whether. to leave, she meets Luke. Maybe the night isn’t such a disaster as Luke appears to be great. Luke has an ex-girlfriend though, and Cadence isn’t ready to let him go. She’s even started stalking Grace. This book has some absolutely brilliant twists and turns right up to the end. I loved this book, highly recommend.

This was an exciting read with lots of twists and turns and not going the way you expect to at the beginning. However, once you start to get into the story you do start to suspect that all is not as expected, and you realise that it's probably all been a lie. But a good read, and very enjoyable.

The Ex-Girlfriend, Nicola Moriarty

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Women's Fiction, Romance

Gah, women's fiction: c'mon publishers, this category has no place in 2019. Men read romance, men write romance, stop trying to alienate a potential reader base.

Anyway, I found this book kind of slow at the start, and felt it was a little predictable. I was pretty sure what was going on and almost gave up.
Glad I didn't though, once things picked up they rocketed along, with surprises way beyond what I thought would happen. Its totally absorbing, and so much more than I first thought, so although I found that first 30% a bit meh, a little obvious as to what was going on, once past that and I was gobsmacked, the story went way beyond what I'd thought.
What seemed like a simple story turned into a deliciously complex one full of unexpected events and long planned motivations.
The events had me mentally screaming “nooo....don't” and I was so astonished at how seemingly unconnected events finally came together.
Its a shortish review for me, but its impossible to say more without giving away important events, suffice to say its a story that had me gripped once past that slow start.

Stars: four, it would be five but for that slow start. Still, for others its a five as it is so its perfect for them.

I've just finished this book with clenched teeth!! It seemed to start off like a love story between Luke and Georgia but that quickly changed into a nightmare. Luke's ex Cadence is stalking Georgia or so she believes, Georgia's life starts to fall apart and it takes a good while for her to figure out exactly what is happening.
A twisty edge of the seat thriller would make a great film!!!

I really liked this book and devoured it in one sitting. Its fairly predictable, however that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. It’s a creepy, fast paced thriller that I’d recommend.
