I enjoyed this book and the setting made the basic premise of a crime thriller stand out however, I felt the continual descriptions of what was happening in London detracted from the story instead of added.
The repetition became boring and I found myself skipping pages.
I like an easy reading crime thriller and this is one so read if you don’t want to be challenged.

I can imagine a lot of people turning to the magic of prayer if placed in Anna's position. This book gravely portrays how wit manages to tear the luck out of God's hands. This is all because the love for life is great and the love for family is even greater - Hadi Atallah, author of 'Rosemary Bluebell.'

A good thriller read, well written with well developed characters which held my interest most of the time. In my opinion it was not an 'edge of seater' read but overall I enjoyed it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This book, the latest in the addictive Anna Tate series, is a compelling read with a twist at the end that will leave you picking your jaw up off the floor. Another potential bestseller for JP Carter.

Anna Tate is on leave after finally being reunited with her daughter, Chloe, who was kidnapped 10 years earlier. When a 10 year old boy goes missing on his walk home from school, Anna is quickly called back into active duty. What happened to Jacob Rossi? Will he be found before it’s too late? While this is the third book in the series, there was plenty of back story so the reader is not totally lost. As Anna investigates, Chloe is swept into the fray of a massive riot on the London streets, making Chloe’s chapters much more interesting than the rather mundane police procedural. Unfortunately, Chloe is rescued rather early so the investigation takes center stage. Told in a straight forward manner with no suspense and little mystery, this book was just an OK read.

DCI Anna Tate, book 3 in the series, is absolutely gripping. I really enjoy this series and this book is filled with action from the first page. Anna is called to a burning building where the body of a young boy, the son of a well known TV personality, is discovered. Throw into the mix Anna's daughter Chloe catapulted into a dangerous situation, and this is a sure fire winner. The characters are well developed and the plot is fast paced and very believable. A 5* read which fans will enjoy. One of my favourite reads of 2019. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Little Boy Lost # Netgally oh do I love this DCI And Tate series. I have waited and hopped that Anne eventually got her daughter Chloe Back at last after 12 years finally she did. Anne was on compassionate leave to spend time with her daughter who she's finally got back after 12 hrs. However the daughter has no recollection of her life before.she always been called Alice and she thought he'd both mum had died so all this is so strange to Chole. During Anne's compassionate leave she get called in for a important case leaving Chloe alone until Tom her boyfriend gets round to look after her.. However through a series of unfortunate events and the riots in London which are well out of control Tom and Chloe get separated. With Chloe spending a night of war tangled up in the riots. Not through choice being only 12 getting dragged into it with others just pushing and pulling. Anne working a case and as now idea what has happened to Tom and Chloe.what twist and turns you ill follow are brilliant they are also best pounding as well.. Brilliant novel once again . Highly recommended

Gritty police procedural, mixed in with rioting and looting is a lost, abducted boy. Lots of threads and a huge twist at the end. Great story.

Poor Chloe!!!
Another gripping instalment in this series with the return of several characters and a fast paced, contemporary plot

I hadn’t read the first two books in this series. But it didn’t stop me enjoying this book. It was fast paced and well written. Good plot to get your teeth into

This was the best thriller I have read this year. Brilliant, intelligent writing with prose and dialogue that was fast paced and utterly convincing. The plot which centred around a kidnapped son of a well known tv personality , is intertwining with breathtakingly believable description of riots in London ,which compromise the case. D.C.I Tate is a well written character who is intelligent, instinctive and very likeable. She has recently been reunited with the daughter who was abducted ten years earlier by her ex husband . Instead of using her compassionate leave to bond with her traumatised daughter, she has been recalled to work early, due to the shortage of manpower occasioned by the riots . I was completely taken aback by the ending! This book wove a spell around me and kept me captive from.the first page. Km not immediately going to buy the other two books in this series. An absolute triumph of a book , written with skill and precision by a master storyteller!

The third book featuring DCI Anna Tate, called back early from compassionate leave after the body of a young boy is found in an abandoned pub, dealing with riots and looting accross the city and now the investigation into this murder Anna is pulled from left to right and when her daughter finds herself in the middle of it all she does not know where to start first
Just as good if not better than the previous reads in this series

I have loved the previous 2 books in this series, and this one was just as good. Lots of twists and turns, kept me guessing all the way through. Definitely worth a read!

Little Boy Lost is the 3rd book featuring DCI Anna Tate, and the 3rd book that I have given 5 stars to. I love this series and jumped at the chance to read an early review copy. These books completely hook you in early on and I am yet to see an ending coming. Anna is an inspiring woman, a strong leader who never gives up. She cares about her victims and wants justice for them, no matter what. This book is action from the very start and it makes you want to keep reading to see what will happen next.
Anna is called back to work early from her compassionate leave when the body of a young boy is found chained to the wall of the basement in an abandoned pub. London is in crisis with riots and looting happening all over the city, a reaction to the actions of the police. They discover that the boy is the son of a well known TV personality, a man with a number of enemies. At the same time Anna’s daughter Chloe finds herself alone and scared and without her phone amongst the riots.
Thanks to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

Wow! What a read, absolutely brilliant, best one of the series, heartstoppingly fantastic, so many emotions, cannot praise this enough. Will be recommending the entire series to anyone who will listen.

When the body of a young boy is discovered in a burnt out pub, DCI Anna Tate is called in to investigate. It appears the boy, 10 year old Jacob Rossi, was abducted on the way home from school and chained up in the basement of the pub. With London in the middle of the worst riots in years, time is running out for Anna and her team to discover who is to blame for the boy’s death.
This story also features the return of Anna’s daughter, Chloe, who was taken from her mother ten years before and the impact it has on them both.
A good fast paced book with an excellent storyline. A story full of suspense and a good twist which makes for an entertaining read.

A new author to me.... I really wish I’d read the first book in the series as this would have brought the character stories together!
I enjoyed this book and found it quite gruesome in places and I’m not easily shocked. An interesting story with very strong characters that has the right ending.
Will look for this author again

DCI Anna Tate is recovering from the shock return of her missing daughter, Chloe (who goes by the name Alice) and trying to build a relationship and help her grieve the loss of her stepmother and father. Anna is called back to work for the murder of a local celebrity’s 10 year old son. During the evening the worst riots London has ever seen unfold and Anna is in shock at the situation.
I loved the first two books in this series but this one I think has been mr favourite. Anna’s character has found her missing part which seems to make her better. Huge five stars without a doubt!

Cleverly plotted.
This is the third book in DCI Anna Tate series and J.P. Carter has proved it again. He wrote an entertaining thriller with a good concept. A little boy by the name of Jacob, age of ten years went to school one day but he didn't reach at home. DCI Anna Tate is called to investigate the case. What happened next? Well,to know it you have to read this brilliant thriller. Each chapter will give you an interesting thing to move forward but i personally felt that the ending was a bit dragging. But these kinds of thrillers are enjoyable when they're lengthy.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for giving me an advance copy of this awesome thriller.
There were a lot of characters in this book. I personally like Anna,Tom, her boyfriend and her daughter, Chloe. Each character was created meticulously.
A must read.

I almost DNF'd this book. The basic premise is solid. You have a detective struggling with personal issues, trying to find out what happened to a murdered child, set amidst a riot-torn city. It could have been very good.
Where did it all fall apart? Well it started with the adjective and adverb loaded prose. Show not tell is a writing advice that should be taken with a grain of salt, as both show and tell should be balanced to build up tension and emotions. Here, there was far too much tell. Too much exposition on how people feel and why. This leaked into the dialogue, which read stilted and surreal. These weren't people talking and conversing with a purpose, the dialogue existed to let the author talk. There wasn't really any distinctive voices and it was hard to keep up with who's saying what.
I was equally annoyed by the characters while also not caring anything about their journey. The story had an interesting end, I suppose, though I do wonder why someone lying about a surname took so long to discover. Surely policing involves checks and double checks.
