Flits back and forth between three women in their twenties. One is depressed after breaking up with her boyfriend. The second incredibly stressed out about writing her dissertation. Finally, the third girl screwed her roommate's boyfriend and has been ostracized from her social circle. The book ends with their stories finally connecting. I didn't think this was very interesting. The art is drab. There's just nothing to compel me to read more.

'Glory Days 1: Chaos' with story and art by Merwan is a graphic novel following the the lives of three women.

Violet has decided to dump her boyfriend and is now driftless. Lila has slept with her best friend's boyfriend and is now out of her social circle. Helen finds herself trapped in an endless cycle of study and stress.

These stories all start separate then begin to connect. The stories are good, but probably get better. The art has a rough style that I liked.

This graphic novel was definitely just okay in the very beginning and I was very confused with the different changing of the scenes the way they were planned out. However, the further I got into the graphic novel I felt more engrossed in the storyline! I will definitely be continuing the series very soon!

This graphic novel was a great story about finding yourself in a world that tends to want to make you conform. I enjoyed my time reading this and would recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable graphic novel.

Not really a fan of the art style and the story wasn’t enough to keep me interested. The first few chapters were super short and didn’t include that much information which left me pretty confused.

Going in and within the few first pages I could already tell that I wasn't a huge fan of the drawing style. The colours are quite dark and sombre.
The construction of this graphic novel didn't help: the story kept switching back and forth between the three women and it was very confusing and hard to follow. We don't really understand what's going on with each of them.
Moreover, I felt that this was a bit too short for my liking as we don't really have the time to become attached to any of the characters. We don't get the chance to fully grasp the purpose of each story and how they intertwine.
The topics it deals with are interesting, though, and very contemporary: we encounter the struggles of these women as they are stuck in a relationship for some or feeling the pressure of success for others. We have an inkling of what are the stakes for a PhD student and how to balance the studies with a personal life. Another protagonist allows you to explore betrayal between friends.
Overall, one can relate to any of these women as they are dealing with the transition to adulthood.
There is nothing more to gain than what the summary tells us.
I'll still give this graphic novel series a chance and read the following installments.

Nothing really spectacular or new here. Three young women's stories are told from each one's point of view.
Violet is a 24 year old college dropout living at home, who breaks up with her boyfriend for unspecified reasons and then becomes incredibly depressed and upset when he doesn't try to pursue her after the split.
Lila (real name Leila) gets caught bonking her room mate/best friend's boyfriend and then is shocked and surprised when her room mate no longer wants to speak to her and all her friends stop talking to her.
Helen is trying to finish her thesis, but is too chicken to tell her advisor that she doesn't want to spend TWO MORE YEARS working on the thing so she instead spends her days ruining her health, sabotaging her relationship and smoking a bunch of weed.
The three's paths intersect towards the end, opening up interesting possibilities, but there is nothing here that has not been done to death over and over.

This was my first graphic novel and it was an okay read. You follow three young women who are all at various stages in their twenties and all experiencing different struggles. It was a nice quick read that tied together nicely at the end, which was a good way to lead into the next one. I don't quite understand why one of the characters was moving out at the end, but perhaps it will be explained in the next one. The illustrations were good and the colour scheme used seemed to match the mood of each individual main character.

Glory Days is a story about three girls: Violet, Lila and Helen. We can see their lives in contemporary, with a passage from one protagonist to another.
Violet has dumped her boyfriend; Lila has betrayed her best friend; and Helen struggles to find a balance between her personal life and the doctoral thesis.
In this grafic novel there is an overwhelming sense of "bewilderment". The girls have to fight with this condition... when all you can see is "black" you should drown in this darkness. Then, you have to find the strength to fight this situation. Lila, Violet and Helen are trying to take small steps to do it.
I liked the dull colors that the author used in this GN. They are in perfect harmony with the protagonist's feelings.
In the end, like a thread, they meet eachothers and I hope there will be soon a second part to find out what will happen.

Glory day is the introductions to three girls at very different points in their lives. You learn a bit about each one and the stresses they are currently facing. Eventually all three coming together at the end.
I enjoyed this quick intro to what seems to be a promising Graphic Novel series and cant wait to see how these three lives change and characters grow.
I don't feel it was long enough to give a higher star just yet as this felt much like a teaser but may come back later and change that as I progress with the series.

Focusing on the lives of 3 young women, this comic shows the struggles Violet, Helen, and Lila face with college and social life. Even thouhg it has a dark tone, it is a fast fun read that will leave you asking for more. I really enjoyed reading this comic and the art was amazing. I am intrigued to see what happens next.

A yawnsome opening third of a story about three unlikeable women that goes nowhere and doesn't entertain on the way. One woman is stuffing her life with her college thesis, one is known amongst her friends a lot more after she shags her flatmate's boyfriend, and the other one I really couldn't even remember. Remember guys, this took seven years before anyone could be bothered to translate it, so I suggest you think of reading it with the same urgency.

This was fun to read, and I really enjoyed the art in this comic. I'm interested in reading more of this comic, mainly to see how much these girls shoot themselves in their own feet as they try to make it through life.

This was so cool! I loved each one of the three characters and could connect with them on every level. Their stories are the stories of so many women out there and portraying them in such a beautiful way is really special. The art was amazing and the way how some little gestures (like inhaling a cigarette) were drawn in four different images made for a really atmospheric read. I can't wait to see what happens in the next novel!

An admirable attempt at complexity but ultimately this graphic novel fell quite flat. I didn't really get the convenient friendship aspects, either.

I was most impressed with the way the artist conveyed emotions in this graphic novel. Moreover, I appreciated the story and its organization.

If you want a well written, fun, light, story of three women going to university, this is not the graphic novel you should be picking up. Look for <em>Giant Days. </em>

This graphic novel is very dark, and brooding. The women are depressed, and wronged, and not happy. They are all in their 20s, going through rough times, and it is all a bit of a downer.

I dont' know if things get better in the next volume, but this volume makes me not interested in going any further.

But, as with humor, your milage may vary.

What I liked might not be so pleasing to others.
It is the story of 3 discontented young women who struggle to move on with their lives and maintain peer relationships.
What I liked was the interchange between their separate stories and the lack of reference points to find any link in their stories. The drawing is clear and precise so the characters are identified easily as you flit between their stories. All three seem down on their emotional uppers. Breaking up with their boyfriend; betraying their room mate or simply bypassing their partner’s need due to being caught up in their studies.
Strained relationships, not only emotionally exhausting, financially bankrupting and mentally draining. You read the limited conversational text and take in the sharp illustrations reinforcing these moods and feel all colour will bleed from the pages of this graphic novel.
It is part 1 so you know you are going to be left hanging. However, almost out of desperation but after each has made a life changing decision from their shrinking options the story appears to be aligning their futures together.
You just wonder if the incompleteness each feels or those rough edges that damaged others so will be smoothed and as three becoming one they may complete each other.
Part 2 awaits.

I wanted to like this so much more than I did...

The illustrations are appealing enough and I will probably try and get my hands on the second installment as I want to know what happens to the girls.

However, the layout was very confusing as, after the initial introductory panels showing whose story we were looking at, it jumped about from character to character without much to show the reader this was happening. While you can eventually see the difference in each character's story, it made it very difficult to get into.

I could empathise with Helen and Violet to an extent but Leila just irritated me!

This comic took an interesting premise and turned it into a rather cold and dull story. The stories of these three different young women are presented in a very disjointed manner (on one page there is one, on the next the other one....). There girls also look very alike (their faces & bodies) so I often confused them. The story is less so much about focusing on as stressful period of their respective lives than it is focusing on their romantic relationships. There wasn't much to these characters, and in fact there whole characterisation rests upon their relationship status. The art was occasionally unsettling and unappealing in that their eyes were dull and lifeless...
Fairly disappointed!
