I can't deny, I struggled with this a little, starting the book twice. It's very character driven, and I think you ned to feel a strong reaction to the characters and their situation to really get into it, be it strong positive or negative. I was kind of ambivalent, and actually found some the characters and attitudes repugnant with no redeeming qualities. I'll try again when in the right frame of mind but there was a little too much on the sex and flirtation side of this, and the whole sense of exploitation of various guises to really appeal.

Couldn't finish. The book is big on voodoo and I don't like that in a book. Not for me unfortunately. Sorry. You may like it if you like that kind of thing so don't let me put you off

I have read previous thrillers by Sarah Pinborough and have enjoyed them especially Behind Her Eyes. Thought I would give this one ago as it's been sitting on my kindle for some time.

This book follows two women, Marcie and Keisha. Both from very poor backgrounds and both married now to wealthy men and they are both wives number two. In true thriller form there are plenty of secrets to be uncovered.

This book was just awful. I was intrigued in the beginning and wanted to find out what happened, that is why I kept going with it. I soon became very bored and the story became tiresome and just went on and on. There was also a lot of sex, which I did find uncomfortable and I'm not a prude but it became just too much.

I enjoy books normally by Sarah Pinborough and would read more in the future but this one was not for me. I was swiping the pages very quickly towards the end just to finish it.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). An addictive read from start to finish. You will just want to know more then suddenly an unexpected twist with occur.

I've loved Sarah Pinborough's other books and this was quite different, but a gripping thriller nonetheless! Her writing is excellent and it kept me guessing until the end (a challenge, as I usually find thriller's to be predictable). An enjoyable summer holiday read!

An absolute amazing thriller. This is the first book by this author I have read. I was guessing the entire way through the book.
The twist at the end was perfect!

a mystical element that is perhaps farfetched but all the same a compulsive read. the charachters seem real and there is an urgency to discover how things work out. Not always nice people, can be twisted but a good reliable read

The premise was great but somehow the book wasn;t quite what I expected. I've read other books from the author and have been super impressed but this one feel flat. The domestic noir could have worked really well but I didn't love the voodoo aspect that kept creeping in and didn't add anything to the plot.

Wanted to love it because I’ve adored Sarah’s earlier work but this was just….it just wasn’t the book for me.

Dead To Her by Sarah Pinborough has the heady feeling of Summer. The temperatures in elegant Savannah are soaring high, along with the tensions between the characters.

William Radford IV has put multiple noses out of joint by arriving home from a trip to Europe with a new bride. Keisha is over 40 years younger than her newly acquired husband, they were married just 4 months after meeting. All of this coming very quickly on the heels of the death of his respectable, and appropriately aged and behaved first wife, Eleanor. The Deep South perfect manners are always in place, with barbed tongues and claws just out of sight, always ready to be used.

What I thought was just going to be a story of the shallow, rich and entitled, was made much more interesting with the powerful old magic. It is a dark story, with quite a few twists in store for the reader. It was refreshingly different to other books in this genre.
This 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thriller would make a great holiday read.

My favourite line in the book: The Army is basically the goddamn Village People 😂

I didn't think the voodoo storyline was necessary, it didn't feel it added anything to story.
The ending was odd? Rather a let down but after the authors first I should really have learnt my lesson and stayed away.

Loved Sarah’s previous novel, Behind Her Eyes so was excited to read this however, I’m sorry to say, it did love my to my expectations plot wise & I struggled to finish it. Thanks for the opportunity to read.

Despite loving Sarah’s previous novel, Behind Her Eyes, this one just didn’t quite live up the the expectations.

The first half of the book is rather intriguing and I loved the domestic noir feel to it, but then the voodoo/black magic stuff came into play and then I was just totally confused!! What was believable before then became unbelievable and that was it for me.

I raced through this and really enjoyed it.

I do enjoy Sarah’s books and this was no different.

I loved the twists in this and it kept you captivated.

I would recommend this.
