Absolutely fantastic. Warm and heartbreaking at the same time, with characters you really feel that you get to know. 100% recommend

This was a delight to read from the start, Jeannie was a lovely pleasant uncomplicated character, very well meaning but found herself caught up in the momentum of wedding planning with no time to think beyond the wedding to the actual marriage right up until her dad inadvertently makes her consider the depth of her feelings for Dan on the way to the wedding.
This is a great exploration of love, what makes a relationship last and trying to do the right thing and it was also great to catch up with Rachel and George on a more personal level as we view their relationship 10 years on. This is a very thoughtful and reflective book but still very easy to read, I flew through this and currently my attention span is not great so that really is a testimony to the story and quality of writing.

I was so looking forward to reading this - I love Lucy's other books - and this one didn't disappoint. It was great getting an update on characters from Lucy's past books, especially Rachel.
I loved all the dogs in it, in fact, they were one of my favourite elements of the book, that and Jeannie's music career, and the wedding dress auction/shop storylines.
This wasn't a love story as such. If it was, it was more about Jeannie falling in love with herself.
I loved learning about Jeannie settling into the village. I was nearly in tears over Gem, and Lady Sadie pulled at my heartstrings. Lucy writes about dogs so poignantly.
Interesting premise - her fiance's accident. I did wonder what would happen at the end in terms of Dan. It was a realistic/satisfactory ending.
If I had one criticism, I would have liked more of Owen at the end. He featured in the book a great deal, and then went away. There was just one line about him finding another job . . . where and what was it? But I get why Lucy' did that.

Thanks to Random House and Lucy Dillon for the opportunity to read and review this book. Unexpected Lessons in Love was a beautiful love story so well written in line with Lucy Dillon's gold standard. This story focuses on a young couple about to embark on marriage. Jeannie is having second thoughts about marrying Dan and is about to call off the wedding but before she can Dan is involved in a terrible accident that will change his life. What should Jeannie do. All is not what it seems with this book and it will keep you engrossed to the end. Highly recommend reading.

Lovely easy read with likeable characters and a believable story.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

This is the first Lucy Dillon book I have read. It is an easy read,, well written and has a good pace to it. The story of a bride about to jilt her husband on their wedding day, was a good hook for the rest of the story concerning her bedside vigil for her comatose fiance. Very likeable characters.

Lucy Dillon returns with her best book yet. Jeannie and Dan are due to get married today ... but Dan meets with an accident just as Jeannie is having second thoughts. How can she leave when he needs her more than ever now? Sprinkled with the adorable animals that characterise Lucy’s book, this is the story of the proposal that leads to the happy ending ... but for whom?
I absolutely loved this story, and could not put it down. The dogs are brought to life as much as the people, and Gem in particular.
If you’ve never read Lucy Dillon, grab this book today and get stuck in. And then go back for all her other titles!

Jeannie feels as if she is in a romantic novel when her boyfriend, Dan whisks her off to New York to propose to her. She is swept up into the frenzy of wedding planning and next thing finds herself on her way to the church full of apprehension and doubt. She can’t help but feel that she doesn’t really know the real Dan and that everything has happened too quickly. She is torn by her feelings and not wanting to disappoint all the people involved. Lucy’s story draws you in and makes you wonder where on earth she can go on from here. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved the premise of this and is started strongly but then didn’t seem to go anywhere. The ending was very predictable, and didn’t feel very satisfying, with an odd epilogue.

Lovely quick read with an engaging storyline & relatable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book & would recommend it to anyone.

As far as easy reading goes, I always enjoy a Lucy Dillon novel and this one is no exception. The fictional setting of Longhampton reappears, alongside cameos, both human and canine, from previous novels. There are no great surprises in this one, and to be honest the only time I felt emotional was when reading about one of the dogs. Nevertheless a nice read with the character of Jeannie very relatable.

It’s always easy to recommend books by Lucy Diamond, good story, well developed characters, and always a special dog. I’ve been reading Lucy Dillon for quite a few years now, and she always writes a very readable story with characters you learn to care about along with issues that are important. I did think this had a bit of a slow start, but it s definitely worth completing.
Many thanks to netgalley and penguin for an advance copy.

Thank you to Net Galley for kindly sending me a free kindle copy of this book in exchange for honest review..
Overall I just found this one ok. It was a nice little read and I did like the characters I just found that it dragged slightly in parts throughout.

This is a lovely easy read. The main character was easy to relate to and very likeable.
This book me laugh and cry in equal measures
A great book

This is the story of Jeannie and Dan, who are getting married after a whirlwind romance. On the way to the church, Jeannie is unsure of her true feelings for Dan and decides she can’t marry him. However, before she arrives, an unexpected turn of events means the wedding has to be postponed indefinitely. As the days become weeks, Jeannie has to decide how she sees her future: with or without Dan?
A great book with an excellent cast of characters and an engaging storyline; this was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Jeannie and Dan have had a whirlwind relationship and today isntheir wedding day. Jeannie has cold feet, but then somethings happens to change absolutely everything.....

When starting this novel I didn’t expect to get so engrossed in the story and was very surprised by the ending. The story is about Dan and Jeanie and their love story which stopped on the day of their wedding when one is met with an unexpected accident!
Throughout the story you read more about the main characters and sub characters whom stories interlink.
I loved how the ending wasn’t a typical one and all in the end got what they wanted. I like how there is a possibility of a sequel to occur too.

Another incredible story of love and friendship without the predictability of a lot of stories these days. It was impossible not to like the women in this book and even harder not to visualise and adore the dogs. Fantastic book

I enjoyed this book very much and it gripped me from the start. It was a page turner and I read it in no time at all. I liked the setting and the idea of recycling wedding dresses was novel and interesting.
Although it was not too difficult to predict what would happen in the end, this didn't detract from my reading experience. I did find that a lot was packed into the book and I would have been happy if it had been longer.
I like the fact that Lucy Dillon always includes dogs in her books and I wasn't disappointed this time around! The author must have done quite a lot of research into puppy farming and this came across clearly and gave a very positive message.

I love Lucy Dillon’s books so to have the opportunity to read this one early from net galley made my day!
Jeannie and dan are newly in love and get swept up in the romance of early exciting love and this leads to a romantic proposal very early in in the relationship! Suddenly life is a few shared weekends taken up with wedding planning but losing sight of what long term commitment and marriage actually are! The day of the wedding suddenly comes around and Jeannie realises that she needs to halt the proceedings after a chat with her dad! What happens next is totally taken out of their hands and the course of their relationship is suddenly very different, much soul searching and honesty is required with the help of best man Owen who is caught in the middle! A beautiful read showing that truth, honesty and transparency are vital to a good relationship along with the support of great friends and of course dogs! If you love a feel good read and love dogs then this is the book for you x
