I finally managed to knuckle down and read Archangel's War and good god. It was amazing, easily one of the best instalments in the series. It had highs and lows, poignant scenes and enough action to keep me reading all the way through.
I honestly don't know how to review this book without giving spoilers so I'm going to keep this vague =
After the cliff hanger ending to Archangel's Prophecy I wondered where the Author was going to take us next ………… well this book certainly answers my question and HOW !!!!!
For months Elena and Raphael have been surrounded by the white filaments in a cocoon , Elena is far too
small !!
Raphael's Seven been keeping all who try to take advantage in check ... . BUT now is the time to rise , Elena cannot survive as she is …………………….. it will take all Raphael's power for them both to survive the conflagration .
They return to the world safe but not as they were , especially Elena , ready to face what must come next together , always together .
The Cascade has not been quiet during this time causing untold damage throughout the world ……. and also awakening Ancients , disturbing the balance of power .
Lijuan , once though to be asleep , is no longer …….the peoples of China has become something that no one could foresee …….. a threat to all who would stand against her .
It will take all of Elena and Raphael's people , along with the Cadre and the risen Ancients to try to curb Lijuan's madness .
Amongst the deaths of friend and foe there are moments of despair and sweetness ……………… some of those deaths found me near to tears , but without them the war would surely be lost .
The Author's worldbuilding is superb , her characters fully developed yet ever changing and the storyline is without doubt brilliant . I don't know where she will go next with these characters but I hope that this is not goodbye ….. they have so much more to give us . I especially want to read " Bluebell's " story .
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first Nalini Singh book I read and it was amazing.
It's well written, gripping, exciting and a real page turner that you cannot put down.
I loved the plot, the amazing world building and the fleshed out and interesting characters.
I look forward to reading other books in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
I’m a huge fan of Nalini Singh and the Archangel series is my favourite, this book does not disappoint, especially after the cliffhanger in the last book, my favourite power couple are back and with a vengeance , it’s an emotional rollercoaster of a ride and worth every tear, moment of anguish and joy. I look forward to many more years of Nalini and the amazing talent she brings
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
I honestly don't know how to review this book without giving spoilers so I'm deliberately going to keep this quite vague. What I will say is that Archangel's War was everything I could possibly have wanted after that killer cliffhanger ending to Archangel's Prophecy! Elena and Raphael are both changing in ways they never could have imagined but they are still the power couple we know and love who are more than capable of kicking butt and taking names.
You can probably guess from the title that war is coming and all I'm going to say about that is when it arrives it is EPIC. Her creepiness from China has levelled up in all kinds of horrific ways and it's going to take the entire Cadre, along with a few new and surprising allies who have awoken from sleep, to put a stop to her madness.
Archangel's War is fast paced, full of action and an edge of the seat sense of foreboding. There were fantastically sweet moments between some of my favourite side characters but I also shed a few tears too. This is the book we've all been waiting for since the beginning of the series, we've been building up to this moment for such a long time and I just can't wait to see where Nalini Singh takes us next. I love this world as well as all of the characters and I'm so glad we don't have to say goodbye to it anytime soon!
